Washington (CNN) – A group of conservative black pastors are responding to President Barack Obama’s support of same-sex marriage with what they say will be a national campaign aimed at rallying black Americans to rethink their overwhelming support of the President, though the group’s leader is offering few specifics about the effort.
The Rev. Williams Owens, who is president and founder of the Coalition of African-Americans Pastors and the leader of the campaign, has highlighted opposition to same-sex marriage among African-Americans. He calls this campaign “an effort to save the family.”

Good news. I see it this way pertaining to the gay marriage issue, you are with Jesus Christ or you are with Obama. I'm definitely with Jesus Christ.
I have been a licensed clinical psychologist for 22years. Most of my colleagues would not agree with this. These pastors are spot on! Obama has many sociopathic tendencies. I have seen at least 10 out of the 13 "tendencies" of a sociopath. Obama has shown time and again he will do and say anything to garner support. Remember, be careful what you wish for, you may just get it!
Good to see some pastors and voters looking beyond this election and this President to what kind of future our children might have – and what kind of families they will grow up in.
Carlton Pearson does not represent orthodox Christianity and should not be a spokesperson for any Bible-believing Christian. He is more in line with the Unitarian Church, which does not adhere to the tenants of the Christian faith. Tell the truth, CNN ... if you are going to have a minister on to represent the Christian point of view ... choose a Christian pastor, not a secular humanist one.
So, anyone going to call this racist? They would if he was white!
If you support Obama, given his record and his time vacationing and playing golf, you are racist! No other reason you would support him.
100 rounds of golf= 50 days of work on the economy, foreign affairs, jobs... damn near a month and be half at tax payer expense. The man does not take his responsibility seriously.FooBaar.m
These guys must be on the Koch brother's payroll.
Secondly black pastors... this is the only thing you have against the President and you wish to vote for Willard because of it? I see you haven't really thought this through... How do the gays affect you? Will you be offended if you see a couple? Get over it, people can easily be offended by you because of your religion, your profession and our color. ...its time to mature sir.
So what are you guys going to do? Vote for a Mormon?
It's about time preacher
At Last!
Black Americans are finally awakening and seeing that Obama and his Democratic mobsters are the worst thing to happen to Black Americans and all other Americans in the last 200+ years.
Vote for anyone other than Obama and his Democrats this November and beyond.
They are actively destroying America (for all Americans).
Thank you for your support in your beliefs. It is a shame that President Obama has tried to fool all of Americans with false promises in order to pander for votes.
Wish they wouldn't be so wishy-washy. What's next on the list? 10 wifes and one husband? 10 husbands and 2 wifes? Yes, the family is under attack when you say a family is anything and everything. Somebody needs to stand up and say what's wrong is wrong!
Ah. It feels so good to imagine we are all one. "An effort to save the family." You go, Reverend Owens!
Let's get this jug-earred, arrogant creep out of the White House and out of our lives!
THANK GOD! Authentic Christians who are putting truth above their own comfort and welfare.
May GOD bless these faithful ones and multiply their message to all those open to truth.
I bless them and pray their ministries prosper. The day is coming soon where GOD
is going to separate those who don't love truth from those who do. Many who stand before GOD
are going to hear, "Go away, I never knew you!".
God bless you Rev. Owens. America may well be saved by conservative men of color. We can live with each other. Peace, brother!
Looks like Obamas pandering to gays went over like a turd in a punch bowl. Guess the black vote is not secure
Can a Christian Vote for Obama?
YES... If you accept lying in public as God's will.
YES... If you accept worshiping Obama as God's will.
YES... If you accept sämë-sëx marriage as God's will.
YES... If you accept hating your neighbor as God's will.
YES... If you accept coveting taxpayers property as God's will.
YES... If you accept murdering babies in the womb as God's will.
YES... If you accept hömösëxüäl bütt-sëx and södömy as God's will.
Whoever does not love me does not keep my words. (John 14:24)
Obama is the best thing that ever happened to your country. I can't believe how many people are swayed by racial innuendo in the US. I thought your citizens would be better educated than it appears to us outsiders. Love the US.
Obama and the 111th/112th Congress are the best things to happen to this country in a long time. Finally, the sycophancy of the left-right paradigm is being exposed and becoming a useful tool to unite citizens against such absurdity. I'm glad to see that Christians are waking up to the reality of the situation and are firming up their unity, as Christ warned the early church, against the deluge of attacks on the Christian ideals and the teachings of Christ. As for who's funding this coalition, God only knows!
@Dominican Mama for Obama: There's nothing Dominican about you. You're a spiteful, hateful creature who needs to repent for attacking innocent priests for your own sinful, unrepentant life.
Hey Duke One, the gay community isn't trying to take away Christian's rights. Of course, a lot of Christians seem to think they have a right to dictate how other people live. They don't.
Christians don't own religion. Religion has been around much longer than Christianity. Who are you to tell gay couples they can't marry? We're not in a Christian Theocracy. Marriage is for all consenting, loving adults
That was to be "Christians don't own marriage. Marriage has been around much longer than Christianity."
Awesome! great work pastors!
Concerning the proposed cause of the destruction of the plain where Sodom and Gormooah were, they are proposing that it was the result of an earthquake ......earthquakes recently in and all across the U.S including Washington DC and Virginia!
