First on CNN: Romney preps swing state blitz, stirring V.P. speculation

Washington (CNN) – Mitt Romney's presidential campaign is quietly laying the groundwork for a high-profile blitz of several key battleground states in the run-up to the Republican National Convention in Tampa, and Republicans briefed on the plans say it has all the trappings of a vice presidential rollout tour.

On the heels of his rocky trip overseas, Romney will spend the coming days maintaining the kind of schedule he has kept for much of the summer, with appearances and fundraisers in medium-sized cities in various swing states. Romney will visit Colorado, Nevada and Indiana this week, and make stops in Ohio next week.

But beginning August 10th, Romney will ramp up his campaign operation with a splashy four-day bus tour targeting the largest media markets in several of the states that will decide the November election, CNN has learned.

And in a show of force and party unity, Romney will be joined at each stop by prominent Republican officials and campaign surrogates.

Some details are still murky, and Republicans cautioned that they are subject to change, but on August 11th, Romney will hit three of Virginia's biggest population hubs - the Washington, D.C. metro area, Richmond and Norfolk - before heading down to North Carolina the following day.

On Aug. 13, the Monday after the Olympic Summer Games finish in London, Romney will arrive in Florida for campaign stops in Jacksonville, Orlando and Miami.

WHO MIGHT RUN WITH ROMNEY?

Romney aides are also scouting multiple campaign venues in Ohio for later that week, knowledgeable Republican sources told CNN. Other states may also be added to the itinerary that week.

"Sounds like V.P. week," said one Republican familiar with the schedule, who did not want to be identified revealing the campaign’s plans. “Hitting the big markets in the big states. It just makes sense.”

A Romney campaign official confirmed that a bus tour is being organized before convention week, but said the theme of the tour would be Romney’s vision for the economy.

Revealing the vice presidential pick in the week prior to the convention would be a logical choice for the Romney campaign, which would be able to generate maximum media attention in the late summer lull between the conclusion of the Olympics and the convention.

    Haters haters haters!!!
You all must be soiling your pants to think there is only 98 days left for this president.
    Landslide victory? Are you serious?
We can't afford this guy in the WH anymore. Stand up to Iran, stand up to China, get jobs here going again.
I agree Mitt is robot like sometimes and come across as stiff, but at least he doesn't run around pretending he's some Hollywood elite and rubbing elbows with film stars. Mitt made his money by being successful and working hard, paying taxes, giving to his church, caring for other people rather than himself. Give the guy a chance to turn things around, cause Obama had his chance and he failed us all

I still think Romney is going to come out and announce his pick for VP to be his "double" in crime Donald Trump!!! They both make/made their wealth largely if not entirely off the misfortunes of others. Either causing the misfortunes and snarfing up the proceeds themselves or simply circling the skies waiting on the misfortunes to happen then swooping in to snarf up all the proceeds. Either way, being good at making money off other people's misfortunes is not the #1 qualification for being President of the United States of America. Especially if that is your only qualification or strongest qualification. There is a big difference between being responsible for the monetary gains of a handful of people sitting in a board room and making very important decisions/laws that could pertain to any and all aspects of life and potentially effect every person in this country in one way or the other.

Being President of the biggest most powerful country in the world is a big responsibility. It requires insight, understanding, compassion, open mind and open heart and much much more than the just ability to make yourself and your sponsors obscene amounts of money at the expense of others.

Who cares about Romney's tax returns? He's given more that what is required. So, he's been very successful at everything he's done. That's better than the failure we have at president now.

I guess he figures that if he picks a VP from a swing state that state will swing to him in the election. Damn I hope Barbie and Ken don't get in the white house. Talk about a couple of stuffed shirt, look at me, look at me's. I can't wait for the debates to put a cap on Romney's stupidity. He is a terrible speaker to start with. The debates against a calm cool Obama will toast his butt.

Look closely at his face. That is a loser's face. End of story. I don't mean that he always loses; I mean you can see he knows he's going to blow this election.

Romney's vision for the economy: tax cuts for millionaires and billionaires, the rest of us on our own. Been there done that (Reagan, Bush I, Bush II)

Perhaps Mitt could pick either Camilla Parker Bowles or Shemon Perez. He has certainly shown good judgment by campaigning in England and Israel. Perhaps Mitt will campaign in Syria? He thinks we should talk tough about Iran...how naive! I'm sure the DOD already has plans and an operating budget and is assembling the bunker buster bombs while Mittens is grandstanding. If you know that you are going to attack Iran soon, it's not a good idea to tell them exactly what, where, who and how!

98 days until what? Seriously Obama might get re-elected; however, if you think this will be a landslide you are smoking liberal crap.

Now that Wall Street Mitt's foreign photo-op tour was a total and complete flop, he's off to try and make people forget about it.

We have to give Wall Street Mitt's campaign credit. They apparently knew he'd be a complete failure on his foreign photo-op tour, so they scheduled it during the Olympics in order to limit the about of press his blunders would get.

Anybody know how much foreign dark money he raked in to influence US politics via his dark money SuperPACs?

Romney can only hope for another massacre to deflect the public's attention away from his tax returns. He obviously has something to hide and if he wants to hide them from the public then he's not fit for office.
