Palin to Cheney: Careful where you aim

(CNN) – Don't expect to see Sarah Palin and Dick Cheney on an elk hunt anytime soon.

The former Alaska governor slammed Cheney Tuesday for his assertion that it was a mistake to put her on the 2008 GOP ticket, saying the former vice president was being influenced by the "lamestream media."

Appearing to reference a now-infamous incident from 2006 when Cheney accidentally shot a campaign contributor on a quail hunt, Palin said sarcastically that Cheney was not known for his "misfires."

"Seeing as how Dick – excuse me, Vice President Cheney – never misfires, then evidently he's quite convinced that what he had evidently read about me by the lamestream media, having been written, what I believe is a false narrative over the last four years, evidently Dick Cheney believed that stuff and that's a shame," Palin said in an appearance on Fox News.

On Sunday, Cheney said in an interview he felt it was a "mistake" for then-GOP nominee John McCain to choose Palin as his running mate.

Cheney said Palin failed to meet the number one requirement for a vice president: a readiness to step into the top job if needed.

"Based on her background, she was only governor for two years, I don't think she passed that test of being ready to take over. And I think that was a mistake," Cheney said in an interview with ABC News.

McCain himself pushed back on Monday, saying he was proud of Palin and what the pair accomplished four years ago.

"I'm always glad to get comments four years later," McCain added sarcastically.

Palin said Tuesday the real mistake would have been turning down McCain's invitation to join the GOP ticket.

"Here's where the mistake would have been, I believe. If I had not answered the call," Palin said. "I was honored to run for the vice president of the United States alongside Sen. John McCain. I was honored to accept the nomination from the GOP."

Citing her approval ratings as governor, Palin said it would have been easier for her to "have hunkered down, live that luxurious live, if you will, in Alaska."

Quoting lyrics from Dire Straits, Palin said she was being targeted by members of her own party.

"Sometimes you're the Louisville Slugger, baby, and sometimes you're the ball," Palin said. "Evidently, in these last months, per many many comments from those within the GOP establishment, I'm the ball."

  1. What?

Ken, if you were to write her statement precisely the way she spoke it, it would make sense. This is just another media trick: leave out the proper punctuation and a word or two so it doesn't make sense. Example: "And this one studied JOUNALISM and communication?????"

Poor Sarah looks to blame anyone else when something unforvourable is said about her. She should try looking in the mirror just once. Maybe she should try being on a network other than Faux news in order to see what real world reporting is. All the networks have their slants but Faux news is so biased, it's laughable they consider themselves fair and balanced.

Question – if therewas nomedia in the world...then who would Sarah Palin blame?

Palin was the longest of "hail mary's" for McCain – but when he stated the "fundamentals were sound" it was game over.
Obama will win big – for one reason only – he is running against the Republicans. If there were any credible choice he would be retired. Landslides start around 400 Electoral Votes.

Classic Palin sentence – +/- 51 words with 'evidently' used three times.... :)

Priceless....Darth Vader and the Wasilla Hillbilly battling each other over the lost election of 2008. Neither of these fools should ever get another millisecond of the public's time.

    Oh, I get it!

If you show Palin to be the idiot that she truly is, you're LAME.

It's scary that people actually voted for this immature twit.

Yes (quitter) Governor. It's all the fault of the media. Never mind that they just report the drivel that spews from your mouth. Take some accountability for your own shortcomings, inexperience, ignorance and just plain simple-mindedness.

Love it when republicans go after each other.

Another person blaming the media. She said, in her incoherent way, that Chenney was influenced by the liberal media. Now that is comical!

And to imagine John McCain choose her over Mitt? when Mitt was vetted for McCains VP he offered 10 years tax returns but He must have some major problems with his finances if Palin looked better to McCain

Yes you are the ball, Sarah, and you brought it all on yourself. You were the "darling of the Republicans" when everyone first met you, but you soured people all by yourself. You are still trying to get in the middle of the stage and pushing everyone you know, even your kids, to do anything to get in the limelight. We're over you!

Welcome to the Right Wing Comedy hour. Palin calling anyone lame is an oxymoron. And Cheney? An approval rating of 13% went he left office. He and Rumsfeld were the corporate Titans that were to fix the economy, just like Romney. And look what happened!!!Then you have the obstructionist Tea Party Congress. Then the Republican Primaries. The Comedy show continues with Mitten's " foot in mouth" disease. The next step is Mitt will sell Ohio to the Russians for a one hundred million dollar campaign donation!!

  16. What?

@Twit – it would be refreshing if the LSM would quote her correctly but their goal is to make her sound like a jerk. They've succeeded and now we are left with a Marxist.

At least they can both agree that they hate the media that is the medium through which they are having this little spat. If there is anything lame about the media coverage of either, it would be that they bother covering them at all.

Both Sarah Palin and Dick Cheney need to cool it Sarah needs to stop blaming the so-called "lamestream" media. The media people she likes might be called lamestream by others.

The media is hot always perfect. The people who are media commentators and writers are only human. Ms. Palin is not the only one who has had difficulty during an election season. Other candidates beginning with Hilary Clinton have faced the same situation.. They can also love you one day and try to tear you down the next day.

  23. Palin Power

Sarah Palin is vastly superior over Darth Cheney any given day. When Palin becomes our next and greatest President, she will deliver justice to Dubya and Cheney and make them pay for their war crimes.

McCain got a lot of bad advice, not just in picking Palin but how he ran his entire campaign. How does a decorated war hero with a history of military and public service lose an election to a 1st term junior Congressman?
