(CNN) – Don't expect to see Sarah Palin and Dick Cheney on an elk hunt anytime soon.
The former Alaska governor slammed Cheney Tuesday for his assertion that it was a mistake to put her on the 2008 GOP ticket, saying the former vice president was being influenced by the "lamestream media."

Appearing to reference a now-infamous incident from 2006 when Cheney accidentally shot a campaign contributor on a quail hunt, Palin said sarcastically that Cheney was not known for his "misfires."
"Seeing as how Dick – excuse me, Vice President Cheney – never misfires, then evidently he's quite convinced that what he had evidently read about me by the lamestream media, having been written, what I believe is a false narrative over the last four years, evidently Dick Cheney believed that stuff and that's a shame," Palin said in an appearance on Fox News.
On Sunday, Cheney said in an interview he felt it was a "mistake" for then-GOP nominee John McCain to choose Palin as his running mate.
Cheney said Palin failed to meet the number one requirement for a vice president: a readiness to step into the top job if needed.
"Based on her background, she was only governor for two years, I don't think she passed that test of being ready to take over. And I think that was a mistake," Cheney said in an interview with ABC News.
McCain himself pushed back on Monday, saying he was proud of Palin and what the pair accomplished four years ago.
"I'm always glad to get comments four years later," McCain added sarcastically.
Palin said Tuesday the real mistake would have been turning down McCain's invitation to join the GOP ticket.
"Here's where the mistake would have been, I believe. If I had not answered the call," Palin said. "I was honored to run for the vice president of the United States alongside Sen. John McCain. I was honored to accept the nomination from the GOP."
Citing her approval ratings as governor, Palin said it would have been easier for her to "have hunkered down, live that luxurious live, if you will, in Alaska."
Quoting lyrics from Dire Straits, Palin said she was being targeted by members of her own party.
"Sometimes you're the Louisville Slugger, baby, and sometimes you're the ball," Palin said. "Evidently, in these last months, per many many comments from those within the GOP establishment, I'm the ball."

Kinda hard to pick a favorite in a Darth Vader-Paris Hilton spat, isn't it?
Hey bimbo, this is how this blows. Your party is using you as a sacrificial dummy. You are finally done!!
The old man came out to tell the world that YOU were a better choice for vp in 2008 than the guy who is running for president in 2012. As you have shown time and time again you are a first class uneducated cretin so your boy dick now has to come out to throw you under the bus because if you were perceived as a better candidate than the twit for a vp position how in the world can this bulky bishop now be running for president. The old man still doesn't have the cojones to admit his HUGE mistake.
It's like you thinking you are capable of being anything but what you are. A nobody then, now and forever!!
Sarah Palin will completely fix the GOP and purify it of the Neocon taint of the Bush clan and Cheney.
Evidently Sarah likes the word "evidently". Her whole platform is based on HER asssertion that the media is misrepresenting her. If she removes that assumption, she has nothing to offer. The one leadership position of any consequence to the national stage, her governorship, she quit. It was too much pressure for her to manage 600,000 people in one state and deal with the national media. Cheney is right and I never agree with him. Enough said.
Palin is so dumb. "Careful where you aim!!!", of course by saying you are a mistake, he's aiming at you dumb. He needs to be careful not to miss you.
Sarah Palin would've been great on "The Gong Show". As a contestant, not the host.
Now isn't that fun... two douche bags beating up on each other. Not nearly as much fun as the Rep primary though. That circular firing squad was a hoot, as they all told the truth about each other. Now, of course, Mittens is trying to pretend none of that happened, reset the etch-a-sketch... hahahaha, another major douche bag.
she still can't handle the fact that she lost the election for mccain by being completely unprepared for the job she signed up for
Come on Sarah...surely you could have said "evidently" seven or eight more times in that sentence! You're getting soft.
She's still the same old doofus and Cheney hasn't improved his image one drop. never trust a politician. once they become a politician, they are tainted to the core. it's ALWAYS ALL ABOUT THE MONEY, BABY $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
...isn't the quote "sometimes you're the bat and sometimes you're the ball" She can't even make sense repeating something......
McCain is right here. This is four years late. Go write a book about the 2008 election if that is what you want to rehash.
I say we put this on pay per view. The dimwit vs the devil. Where is Don King when we need him?
Good grief! The man has had a change of heart. Accept it Palin. You were just a GOP post turtle just like Nitt Witt; the GOP put you up on a fence post and everyone who sees the stranding knows you didn't get there by yourself.
Can't you just feeel the love! Two bottom- feeding, low lifes. The GOP deserves them in their corner!
She's a testly little thing, isn't she?
Palin made Cheney's case for him with her mangled reply, including the sexual innuendo. She isn't worthy of a high school diploma though one has to stand in awe of her Christian humility. She's a total fraud and a stain on America's history.
For once Chaney and I agree. I was all set to vote McCain until this flipent did the shout out and winked at the camera. Seems she thought it was a damn beauty contest.
Bye Bye Sarah, Sarah Bye Bye
Bye Bye Dickster, Dickster Bye Bye
Who next in the T/Republican Party? Mittens?
I hate to say it, but Cheney is 100% correct. I can't think of anything that Palin's qualified to do, from holding public office to raising an unwed pregnant daughter. Time's up, Palin. Now sit down & shut up.
Ha! Ha!! Ha!! Well if Sarah Palin had not "answered the call", we sure would have had a "boring" 2008 Presidential campaign!
If she was such a good choice, why didn't she run for POUTS . She sevens to have hunkered down living the good life in Alaska made possible by having been the GOPHERS vice presidential candidate.
This is the first time I've liked anything that Cheney has said. Of course, McCain has to come out in support of Palin; she is his legacy.
Sarah Palin was the cheerleader in 2008 election.
Cheney influenced by lamestream media? Or simply election results?
