(CNN) – Don't expect to see Sarah Palin and Dick Cheney on an elk hunt anytime soon.
The former Alaska governor slammed Cheney Tuesday for his assertion that it was a mistake to put her on the 2008 GOP ticket, saying the former vice president was being influenced by the "lamestream media."

Appearing to reference a now-infamous incident from 2006 when Cheney accidentally shot a campaign contributor on a quail hunt, Palin said sarcastically that Cheney was not known for his "misfires."
"Seeing as how Dick – excuse me, Vice President Cheney – never misfires, then evidently he's quite convinced that what he had evidently read about me by the lamestream media, having been written, what I believe is a false narrative over the last four years, evidently Dick Cheney believed that stuff and that's a shame," Palin said in an appearance on Fox News.
On Sunday, Cheney said in an interview he felt it was a "mistake" for then-GOP nominee John McCain to choose Palin as his running mate.
Cheney said Palin failed to meet the number one requirement for a vice president: a readiness to step into the top job if needed.
"Based on her background, she was only governor for two years, I don't think she passed that test of being ready to take over. And I think that was a mistake," Cheney said in an interview with ABC News.
McCain himself pushed back on Monday, saying he was proud of Palin and what the pair accomplished four years ago.
"I'm always glad to get comments four years later," McCain added sarcastically.
Palin said Tuesday the real mistake would have been turning down McCain's invitation to join the GOP ticket.
"Here's where the mistake would have been, I believe. If I had not answered the call," Palin said. "I was honored to run for the vice president of the United States alongside Sen. John McCain. I was honored to accept the nomination from the GOP."
Citing her approval ratings as governor, Palin said it would have been easier for her to "have hunkered down, live that luxurious live, if you will, in Alaska."
Quoting lyrics from Dire Straits, Palin said she was being targeted by members of her own party.
"Sometimes you're the Louisville Slugger, baby, and sometimes you're the ball," Palin said. "Evidently, in these last months, per many many comments from those within the GOP establishment, I'm the ball."

i think this may be the only thing chaney has been right about. i guess he still does not consider the unnecesary deaths and injuries to our troops in iraq was worth an apology (not to mention the money).
I can't believe anyone would care about either of these two has-beens. They are both big negatives when it comes to our country's political history.
Sarah, shut up already. You're like a lottery winner who thinks upgrading to a double-wide trailer makes her a financial expert. Dick might be evil, but you're just plain dumb. Lamestream media? You sound like a twelve year old. Go ahead and do the Maxim spread before you get too old. Then ride back to Alaska "firin' them guns and ringin' them bells." Then fade away. There are plenty of dumber, younger, prettier girls to take your place in the GOP wet dream.
Palin's constant decrying of the 'lamestream media' is hypocrisy at its most blatant. The woman LIVES to be talked about, photographed, and written about. Without the lamestream media, she would be bagging groceries in Alaska.
She not only can't finish her term, she can't finish her sentences.
Wouldn't be great and impressive if Palin just kept her comments to her self for a change.
For once, I agree with Dick Cheney.
Sarah maybe it was the heart transplant he jumped in on that has affected his thoughts......
For the first time, I actually agree with Palin on something. It indeed would have been a mistake for her to turn down the offer to be on McCain's ticket. She was never going to see an offer that good again.
Both of them are mistakes.
It's only a matter of time before Fox News boots the inarticulate nut job out of it's pool of commentators. John McCain would be president today if he (or his handlers) had made a better choice for VP. Hell, Dan Quail would have been a better choice than Palin. The far out Righties still think that Palin was a better choice than Joe Biden. Good. Let them think that. Maybe Mitt Romney will choose her again. By now she should be able to name two or three magazines that she reads regularly.
why do reporters even write about this loser. they say if you ignore someone that they will go away.
Sarah Palin just doesn't get it. She was unqualified to be VP of this nation. She's uneducated, unsophisticated and boorish with child like qualities. This ain't high school missy. If you can't take the heat stay out of the kitchen.
Sarah, Sarah, your 15 minutes was up 4 years ago. Run along now.
I love it when the actually quote Palin word for word in an article. I really proves how stupid she is. Even with the punctuations added it is hard to read her comments. She is truly at a 3rg grade speaking level
WOW this woman blames everything on the "media".
"Dick never misfires?" What is she, 13?
"Here's where the mistake would have been, I believe. If I had not answered the call," Palin said. "I was honored to run for the vice president of the United States alongside Sen. John McCain. I was honored to accept the nomination from the GOP."
Apparently she wasn't so "honored" to govern the State of Alaska. One has to wonder what the harvest would have been had she been stuck playing second fiddle to McCain, had Hell frozen over and they'd been elected - would she have tired of it after a couple of months of purely figurehead functions, and agreed with the 32nd Vice President of the United States, John Nance Garner, and found the Vice-Presidency "not worth a bucket of warm spit"? (Garner, of course, did not say "spit," but another four-letter word that shares two consonants and the one vowel with the word "spit").
Anyone who refers to themselves as "honored" in two consecutive newsbite sentences has no conception of the meaning of the word "honor." I think it's time for Palin to "answer the call" of nature, permanently.
One deserves to be tried and locked away for life. The other deserves to be banished to the Alaskan tundra, never to be heard from again. Both are bottom of the barrel.
he's right – they didnt vet her. im also hoping dearly that we have heard nearly the last from sarah palin politically. she belongs on a bad reality show
OMG – her syntax makes my head spin. Quite frankly, this country would be better off if both she and Dick would please be quiet. They have caused enough trouble – that is what is a shame. And it is always the "lamestream media." Give it a rest already. It is you and Dick who are lame.
OBAMA/BIDEN/FIRST LADY MICHELLE 2012!!!!
...There's no crying in baseball.....
i hope in the 2016 election cycle she decides to run for president....that way, when she doesnt make it past the iowa caucus's she will see just how irrevalent she really is...or maybe not, michelle bachman is still chirping
Considering McCain/Palin lost - she can't escape partial responsibility for the failure of the campaign. And the bottom line is, she was a bad choice.
Is that the Palin whom McCain deemed more qualified for VP after seeing Romney's tax returns?
