Aspen, Colorado (CNN) – Is Mitt Romney nearing a final decision on who will be his running mate this fall?
Here's one clue: Romney's longtime adviser Beth Myers, who has been tasked with heading up the campaign's search for a running mate, will be traveling with the Republican presidential hopeful on Thursday when he arrives in Colorado to meet with GOP governors, according to a source familiar with the trip.

Romney will hold a public event with several Republican governors in Basalt before attending a fundraiser in Aspen later in the evening. A who's who of top GOP officeholders, strategists and donors are gathered in the ski resort town for a retreat hosted by the Republican Governors Association.
At least one Republican governor thought to be on Romney's final short list – Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal – is already in Aspen.
While the purpose of Myers' trip is being tightly held, her presence at Romney's side is a reminder that he could announce his running mate at any time in the coming weeks.

So, to clarify, this is the same meeting that Rove and Gillespie are attending which raises serious questions about the extent to which they may be trying to skirt campaign finance laws by creating a situation where PACs and candidates are discussing strategy and coordination? And Mittens will just happen to be in the vicinity? Just wanted to make that clear since it's glaringly absent from the article. Funny how mention of Mittens being in the vicinity is also absent from the other article that discusses the Rove/Gillespie issue....hmmm...one might think CNN is making a real effort to avoid drawing the connection....
WHO CARES? Romney is gonna lose in a landslide anyway>!
Beth Meyers ? The V.P. pick ? how about Ronald Regan ? LOL....Ohio ? Pres. Obama has that, & it looks like Obama has pretty much had the Majority of the people of this country behind him. They know whats been going on.
WHO CARES? Romney is gonna lose in a landslide no matter WHO he picks>~!
Tax cheats are UNelectable.
Obama2012~!
Can't wait to see who wants to sabotage their political future by playing second-banana to this incompetent clown. Even the Republicans don't like Romney... the only reason they're voting for him is because they've been trained to hate Obama worse.
Hey Mitsy – I hear Sarah is looking for work. You two would make a great pair – neither of you cares about anyone except yourself.
Is this really what passes for news these days? 24 hour news cycles have given a grandiosity to events that never existed before...
Here is a bit of news: Romney will announce his pick between the time of this posting and August 30th. You heard it here first.
Give it up ROMONEY!!! You'll never win this time around. Better try back in 2016!!!
It will be Portman, someone just as bland and boring as Romney himself. The GOP learned their lesson in 2008 – Palin was the worst VP pick since Aaron Burr.
A new report just out from the Internal Revenue Service reveals
that 36 of President Obama's executive office staff owe the country
$833,970 in back taxes. These people working for Mr. Fair Share
apparently haven't paid any share, let alone their fair share.
Previous reports have shown how well-paid Obama's White House
staff is, with 457 aides pulling down more than $37 million last year.
That's up seven workers and nearly $4 million from the Bush
administration's last year.
Nearly one-third of Obama's aides make more than $100,000 with 21 being paid the top White House salary of $172,200, each.
The IRS' delinquent tax revelations come as part of a
required annual agency report on federal employees' tax compliance.
Turns out, an awful lot of folks being paid by taxpayers are not paying
their own income taxes.
The report finds that thousands of federal employees owe the
country more than $3.4 billion in back taxes. That's up 3% in the past
year
Tax cheats are surely appointable though...just look at the current administration!
Mittens has more dirty secrets and the CIA. So much for transparency. At least VP speculation takes 'you people's' minds off the disasterous foreign trip, the years of paying no taxes, the $1.2 billion government bailout of the Salt Lake olympics, the oversees accounts the record at Bain, the erased hard drives while governor of MA, the outsourcing of MA government jobs to India, the non stop lying, and the bigger tax cuts for the wealthy. KMA Mittens.
The domestic agenda of Romney is drill and cut, and combined with the Ryan’s budget and Rubio policy would be catastrophic for America because it will discontinue federal funding for essentials. Environment protection would decline, crime would increase, educational institutions would fail, our energy grid and entire energy infrastructure would continue to grow more outdated, our highways and bridges would continue to fall apart, just to name a few. They have said that they want to eliminate funding for all of these things this over and over and over again, are you listening to your party leaders?
$10,000 to anyone who can name the GOP governers who are bringing their snow skis to Aspen in August?
The real purpose of the Romney campaign releasing this tid-bit to the media is to try to do something, ANYTHING to change the conversation away from his inept trip overseas.
And I know a rat when I see one. This guy is scary. We need to get rid of him and every single person that signed the Norquist Pledge.
Romney could choose any body from Mickey Mouse to Z Gabor and no one will really care. This is an election for or against Barak H Obama and his program, which neither side can clearly explain. Where is Teddy Roosevelt when you need him.
Any American of some intelligence and average means will NOT vote for Romney! It is clear as can be that all he cares about are his billions–same for most other Republicans as well. Everyone: Get out and vote OBAMA!
Don't believe Fox News–just because a person says he is pro-life doesn't mean he is. Don't be fooled by the Republicans!
Jindal is already in Aspen? Good grief, does Bobby ever do his job (he is paid to be governor of Louisiana)?
You are our next president...US is not built by people but by GOV...LOL OBAMA wake up!
OBAMA in 2012; HILLARY in 2016–forget it Republicans!
Let;s try Dick Cheney or his daughter Liz. He has a new heart. She does not have one. Better luck this time. Maybe he will leave with 12% approval rating, one point above the last.
Bobby Jindal would be a horrible pick. He represents everything establishment republican. Go for Marco Rubio!
At the moment Larry is my VP choice. But I may still pick Moe or Curly.
Romney has narrowed down his choice to the top three candidate for the VP. He is now in search for a three sided coin so to flip the three sided coin to pick a VP. Etch a sketch.
