No drought aid for farmers, ranchers as Congress breaks for summer

Washington (CNN) - Congress adjourned for the summer on Thursday without passing a relief package for farmers and ranchers suffering through the most widespread drought since the 1930s.

The only thing the Republican-controlled House of Representatives and the Democratic-controlled Senate have agreed on is that they'll take the issue up again after Labor Day.

To the farmers who continue to vote for the rethugs and teapublikkkans. As you see your life's work literally go to he11 just remember most of you probably voted for these clowns who promised so much and have done absolutely nothing but tank the country. Maybe you will be smarter in 2012 but I really and truly doubt it!

I am sure that the teapublicans wouldn't have gone for any financial support for farmers.

There is no drought It's all liberal science to back it up!!! Just ask those republican leaders they will tell you....drill baby drill!!! Let businesses regulate themselves ....let them create jobs and do what they want It's in our best intrest.....meanwhile carbon footprints abound, polluted oceans and rivers still happen...God forbid our government have any power to regulate......come on PEOPLE...look around ,pay attention the answers are very obvious as to who cares about the welfare of our children and grandchildren. Romney and his robot followers want as much money for their own kind so they can isolate themselves from these common problems of the masses. When you live in a mansion high above the commoners money insulates you from the normal concerns!!! Sounds crazy I know.....

Dealing with a symptom not the problem i.e the problem is global warming. If you get a proper tax stucture re carbon emissions you can then invest in alternative energy and subsidize farmers when needed until weather cycles in 10-15 years become more normal.
As usual media talks about the catastrophe not the solutions.
On both sides political solutions are they fully funded/ budgeted, and not budget deficit or debt increasing?? If not both sides are playing games with everything in the balance like debt crisis, fiscal cliff etc etc needing resolution by September end for ALL AMERICANS INTERESTS REPUBLICAN OR DEMOCRAT, I want to know why they think they can go on holiday for month and be considered as doing thier job we put them there for especially Tea party members.

Look, as the Republicans are so eager to remind us we are broke, so no, there is no money for disaster aid for farmers. It is really quite simple.

…but has since stalled. Some tea party conservatives want to cut spending more deeply…
Dear farmers, perhaps you should pay attention how well the tea party works for you…
By the way, climate change? Oh, never mind…

Is there an irony in the 1929 financial collapse preceeded the drought of 1930's. And the next biggest reccession preceeded this drought? Man and God in harmony

I guess the Red states are going to find out how much pain the Republican-led gridlock can hurt. But then again you all support a reduced federal government and criticize government handouts. Looks to me like this should be one of those state issues you like to yammer on about. Call your Repuglican Governor. Pull yourselves up by your own bootstraps and work even harder to eke out a living. Maybe you can get a second or third job over at Walmart. That's the American way. Help from the government is that nasty word Socialism. Hey, we all deserve to get what we vote for, right? Per Mitt, if you're not successful, it must be your culture. Go ahead and disbelieve the scientists about global warming. Go ahead and support the party of the oil&gas companies who contaminate your ground water. Then wake up to another hot, dry, parched day and wonder where all the darn water went. Keep it up and soon you'll really know what it's like to hide you head in the sand - desert sand that is...

Republicans once again fail to do the work of 'we the people.' Boehner has to be the most inept speaker of the house, failing to get anything done that would help Americans.

It is "God's will" so why should tax payers pay?

Just hold a prayer conference and pray for rain, Reverend Perry has some spare time these days.
