Romney meets with Colorado shooting victim

(CNN) – While making a campaign stop Thursday in Colorado, Mitt Romney said he met with McKayla Hicks, a victim of last month's movie theater massacre in Aurora.

The presumptive GOP presidential nominee began his remarks by mentioning Hicks, who was hit by a bullet that took out some teeth and part of her jaw while seated in the theater next to the one where most of the shootings occurred.

"But she is here and doing well," Romney said at a speech in the city of Golden. He called for the audience to express solidarity for the victims and their families.

"I guess, maybe by applause we show how united we are with the tragedy of those people, how much we love them how much we care for them," he said.

The weekend following the July 20 shooting, both Romney and President Barack Obama suspended campaign activities and stripped their ads from Colorado airwaves.

Two days after the massacre, which killed 12 and left scores wounded, Obama flew to Aurora to meet with families of the victims.

At a San Francisco fundraiser the same day, Romney said it was the "right thing" for the president to visit the town.

"I know the president will be there before he'll be here in San Francisco visiting with families and the victims, which is the right thing for the president to be doing on this day. I appreciate that," Romney said.

"According to the hospitals, any expenses not covered by insurance, whether any is in force, will be absorbed by the hospitals themselves."

so in the end, we taxpayers have to pay for their medical cost, and I thought you repubtards are against it....

Doesn't this guy know about a moment of silence for those who died? A moment of silent prayer for those who were most seriously injured?

And Obama by contrast demanded specific gun control measures be taken. Oh wait, HE DIDN'T.

Obama and Romney will do nothing about gun control. Obama just sounds so much better doing nothing.

    >Malory Archer – Where do you think the hospitals get the $$$ that enables them to "absorb"
    >those costs – from the Keebler elves? They get it by gouging the insured.

and the government which is far easier to steal from as nobody is watching the money. when we have universal healthcare that the government pays for (aka us, the taxpayer, what few there are left), the government will go broke or will more likely ration what it pays for. the older people being shot, well, their time will be up. just not worth saving them as they are likely a drain on the treasury anyways.

why should he rush there and get in the way, just to get free publicity and politicize it? obama had already done that job, as usual. and you would have attacked him ha dhe been there earlier. lefties are a real joke. they'll use anything to further their pathetic losing cause.

Rudy NYC, re bills: Good point, but in addition to the doctors' bills, don't forget rehabilitation, in-home nursing, prescriptions, and probably some mental health care for months or even years for some of the victims. The bills don't stop with the hospital and the docs, and for those without insurance there is a long road ahead of financial woe.

Just like he came up with Bain Capital Outsourcing but Still don't want to take credit fro that either.. You know he does a lot of things that he simply don't want to take credit for except being a Tax Evader and Draft Dodger...

You should probably take a step back, put down the butane lighter and the glass pipe and then go look at the effusive praise Mittens leveled at Israel's gov't run single-payer health care system just last week. They basically have an even more robust version of the ACA in place and spend 10% less of their GDP on health care.

Brass tacks: It's not that everyone will be geting healthcare and paying for it that bothers you. It's that everyone includes certain "others" you really don't want anything to do with and wish would leave the country.

"Lisa P: I am sure if he did say he would pay her medical bills, you democrats will say that he is buying her vote. So please make such a stupid comment."

Well, to be honest, he'd very likley be violating some pretty strict rules that exist precisely to prohibit candidates from doing things that create that impression. It helps protect the integrity...or at least the appearance thereof...of our electoral systems.
