Obama debuts 'Romney Hood'

(CNN) – Legendary outlaw Robin Hood has suddenly assumed a featured role in the 2012 presidential campaign.

Adding a new attack line on Monday to his stump speech, the president railed against rival Mitt Romney's tax proposals, saying they amount to "Robin Hood in reverse."

"It's Romney Hood," the president added to loud applause from 500 supporters in a Stamford, Connecticut ballroom.

Obama's campaign isn't yet indicating whether the "Romney Hood" line will remain part of the president's stump speech.

The comments were in reference to a recent report from the non-partisan Tax Policy Institute that claims Romney's tax proposals are likely to result in a net tax increase of $2,000 for middle-class wage earners while cutting hundreds of thousands of dollars from the tax bills of the country's most wealthy.

"He'd ask the middle class to pay more in taxes so he could give another $250,000 to those making more than $3 million a year," Obama also said at the event. The Romney campaign has disputed the study, arguing that the analysis was flawed because it did not account for additional revenue that would result from a reduction in the corporate tax rate - another part of the candidate's plan.

The event was the first of two fund-raisers for the president in Connecticut Monday. Obama is expected to raise more than $2 million from both events combined.

Romney spokesman Ryan Williams responded to the president's remarks in a statement, calling the attacks false.

"President Obama recently said the biggest regret of his first term was not telling better stories. He's trying to make up for it now, but his stories just aren't true," Williams wrote. "There's only one candidate in this race who's going to raise taxes on the American people – and that's Barack Obama. While he's used taxpayer dollars to grow government and reward his donors, middle-class Americans have seen fewer jobs, lower incomes, and less hope for the future. Mitt Romney has a plan for a stronger middle class – and, unlike President Obama, a record of accomplishment behind it."

For people such as "ready" saying they're disgusted with Obama's politics - Let's not forget what the Tea Party and GOP have done forever now in causing gridlock and playing dirty politics. While in a perfect world, we should be able to debate, have differences, and compromise - that has yet to be shown and it's of no surprise that Pres. Obama is going to come out with both fists– as it's a guarantee that Mitt will.

This is the kind of small ball this President has made famous. He has a terrible job performance and every indicator reflects it so he has to slander and demonize Romney.

If Obama runs on his record he will win. 42 months of job growth, passes PPACA, Obama or Romney care to the GOP, he has tried to pass jobs bills, but the obstuctionist republican party will not let him.
Romneys tax plan is disasterous for the poor and middle class. Washington post-Cuts for the rich.
President Obama with a new congress 2012.

This is a uniquely stupid idea even for Obama. He wants to paint himself the opposite of Romney,so what's the opposite of what he is claiming of Romney? That he is redistributing from the rich and giving to the poor. That's smart. So despite the claims he isn't about redistribution he actually is... never would have guessed that.

All of you who latch on to this crap need to wake up. This is Obama's first step to come after the middle class, just focusing on the rich first will make everyone feel better later when they have to pay more too. There is NO way around this, the dollars aren't there to make a difference at only $250K and higher. And, by the way, $250K and higher isn't rich, it isn't what it used to be. $500K annual income and $10 Million+ in assets is rich, anything less is middle class, maybe upper middle but certainly not rich.

Can't take it Republicans? He is speaking the truth, but all you are worried about is getting the purple lip black man out of the white house. (this is a childish racist remark don;t you think?) The pot calling the kettle black. Never mind that the lying, cheating white man can say or do anything and you will vote for him. You are the ones who need to grow up. You hid your racism for a few years but once the black man was elected you lost it and brought it out full force. The world sees your true colors. No one wants robot Mittens running anything. The Government is not a business. This man cares about no one, has no convictions or morals, but this is okay with you so long as the black man is out of the white house. Never mind that he is biracial and smarter than Mittens to boot. Mittens is nothing but a spoiled brat who had everything given to him on a silver platter and does not know what the word no means. Give him all that you have to throw at him President Obama. He is a wimp and will whine all the way up to the election that you are not playing fair, even though he can not stand up to his own crazy party when they lie and throw out racist codes just like Mittens to win back power. America does not want this clown leading us anywhere. We are a very diverse country and the Grand Old Party had better get with the program or move to the moon colony. If anyone is trying to break America into two classes it is definitely the Republicans. All they care about is other peoples business and not their own.I f you don't like whats going on in people's private lives than leave, because you are not going to change it. America is moving forward with or without you.

I wonder what he calls the National Debt that ballooned since he has been in office? Little Red Omamahood?

There's enough blame to go around, and as an independent voter, I'm disgusted with almost everyone in Washington and don't see viable change in either candidate. We have been sold out as taxpayers.

The story of "Robin Hood" was not simply "robbing the rich to give to the poor." The true story is a tale about a group of people tired of the heavy hand of the government heavily taxing and taking the hard earned income of the people. So I hope he is a "Romney Hood."

I suggest GOP should attack Reid with care. There are new charges coming. Bain bought an Italian telecom business and then sold it for 25 times what it paid shortly afterward, but funneled the money through Luxembourg in order to flout taxes, Bloomberg News reports. Now, the company is worth less than what Bain sold it for. “In Italy, the deals have spurred at least three books, separate legal and regulatory probes and newspaper columns alleging investors made a fortune at the expense of Italian taxpayers … While few ordinary Italians realize the link between Romney and the investor group, the deal symbolizes Italy’s economic woes and government futility as the nation struggles to convince investors that it can repay Europe’s second-largest debt without a bailout,” Bloomberg reports

It's time to cap incomes at $350,000. Anything over goes to the government.

Robin Hood actually stole from the government and gave to the people. So the reverse of that would be taking from the people and giving to the government. That sounds more like Obama than Romney.
