Obama debuts 'Romney Hood'

(CNN) – Legendary outlaw Robin Hood has suddenly assumed a featured role in the 2012 presidential campaign.

Adding a new attack line on Monday to his stump speech, the president railed against rival Mitt Romney's tax proposals, saying they amount to "Robin Hood in reverse."

"It's Romney Hood," the president added to loud applause from 500 supporters in a Stamford, Connecticut ballroom.

Obama's campaign isn't yet indicating whether the "Romney Hood" line will remain part of the president's stump speech.

The comments were in reference to a recent report from the non-partisan Tax Policy Institute that claims Romney's tax proposals are likely to result in a net tax increase of $2,000 for middle-class wage earners while cutting hundreds of thousands of dollars from the tax bills of the country's most wealthy.

"He'd ask the middle class to pay more in taxes so he could give another $250,000 to those making more than $3 million a year," Obama also said at the event. The Romney campaign has disputed the study, arguing that the analysis was flawed because it did not account for additional revenue that would result from a reduction in the corporate tax rate - another part of the candidate's plan.

The event was the first of two fund-raisers for the president in Connecticut Monday. Obama is expected to raise more than $2 million from both events combined.

Romney spokesman Ryan Williams responded to the president's remarks in a statement, calling the attacks false.

"President Obama recently said the biggest regret of his first term was not telling better stories. He's trying to make up for it now, but his stories just aren't true," Williams wrote. "There's only one candidate in this race who's going to raise taxes on the American people – and that's Barack Obama. While he's used taxpayer dollars to grow government and reward his donors, middle-class Americans have seen fewer jobs, lower incomes, and less hope for the future. Mitt Romney has a plan for a stronger middle class – and, unlike President Obama, a record of accomplishment behind it."

Yea, that record contains the prototype of Obamacare, increased "fees", and being 4th from the bottom in job creation. Or was he talking about his record at Bane where jobs left the country at high speeds and he obtained the nicest job ever, president and CEO of a company he had "nothing to do with", including full pay and benefits? or his time at Salt Lake City where he was very sucessful in getting George W Bush to provide some additional funding in order to save the Olympics? Which record does Rmoney want to run on?

Romney-hood, Romney-care, #horseprom at the Olympics tomorrow, and then Mitt's 2011 tax returns due next week. Quick, bring out the VP. (I predict Paul Ryan.)

Like an illusionist who lacks character, Obama once again resorts to blame and misdirection, in an effort to avoid his failed record, and hold onto the life of luxury, he and Michelle have grown accustomed to ... all at the cost of the struggling American tax payers.

I guess I am really confused on the Romney Plan. How do you increase revenue by reducing taxes? That doesn't even make sense to me. Just a dumb liberal here that knows that, every President starting with Abraham Lincoln (August 5, 1861) raised taxes to pay for war...that is until GWB and 112 congress.

Come-on Obama, tell the truth. You have placed the reverse Robin Hood on the middle class for the past 3 plus years. You passed Obama care on a sunday, lets pass it so we can read it party line vote. If you can afford it, you must buy it. Lets look at that shall we. A person making 30k a year must buy health care while also paying 100% of the health care cost for all the local government personal whom make 140k..So, instead of those making 140k in the government union jobs paying their own health care, Obama care has the 30k low income folks funding via local property taxes. Take from the rich and give to the poor? I think and clearly see not.. You wanna tax the rich more and take from the poor. Surely your income of 250k should be able to pay for your own health care, after all, if 30k has to, so should you.

Keep putting the obvious out there, Mr. President, and maybe some of Mittens' zombicans will wake up and see that you and the Dems are the ones trying to pull out of this mess while he and his paty are fighting to keep us in it for their own personal and political gain. hurting the country and its people for any reason is treason in my book. maybe you should put out an executive order declaring the rethug party a terrorist organization. FORWARD!

I keep hearing how Obama is playing dirty. Yet the GOP has used and continues to use every dirty trick in the book for 3.5 years and that's ok? I think it's long over due that Obama is paying the GOP back in kind.

Blah Blah Mr. President Deception....Keep up the personal false attacks with no substance because your record is dismal, because you had very few acomplishments to speak of...In fact your Tax Policy that works is Bush Tax Cuts, and you forgien policy that anabled the killing of Bin Ladin was you guessed it....the Bush Doctrine....The few other things you have done have put us in trillions more debt which is over double what you did to our country in four years then Bush did in 8 years...Romney is so squeeky clean with his record as a buisness man like Elvis said, "Steller Buisness Career with Bain Capital." You and your NBC's and CBS's and ABC's keep telling Fairy Tales of Romney Hood and how Hateful Harry said, "Romney hasn't paid taxes in Ten Years". Mr. Obama you have a horrible record as a President, and you know it, so keep telling stories of Fairy Tales that have destroyed our economy to the brink of Bankrupcy within two years with your spending habits with our money along with the Trillions you have us in hock with the Chinese...which your Marxist ideology has rearing its ugly head for all Americans to see.

The only "record of accomplishment" Romney has is his ability to take an American company, shed all its American workers, and take the money and run.

'Romneyhood' the middle class to stash in the Cayman Islands, Swiss banks etc. I am still at a loss as to why the call for Romney to release his tax records doesn't bother him. If he can not come clean with the American people on this, the rest would be a delunge of skeletons in his huge closet. God Bless America!

The loss of jobs has been in the government sector and not the private sector for the last several months. This is the direct result of the republican parties insisting on cutting spending and still provided their rich firends tax breaks. Any time you decrease government spending, federal and state jobs are lost and that is what we are seeing.

Romney and his campaign people are not telling the truths. As usual, the republicans have kept up their fear creating policies in the campaign and making sure that public is kept away from the truth. The fact is that Romney nad his republcian friends in the House and Senate do not care for the middle and poor class people as they don't matter to them. They are means to their ends of provided wealth to the rich people. The study done by independent agency is correct and Romney's plan will result in middle class paying more taxes so that rich can be rewarded by paying less.

Do you still want to vote for Romney to be US President? I hope not.

If we should elect Romney as president of this country, then America should leave other countries alone to decide how they should govern themselves because we don't we don't get it in our own country.

Hey Tea Baggers guess what? In 1786, the British dispatched a 50-gun warship to New England to enforce the crowns right of taxation over the rebellious colonists. The name of that ship? HMS Romney!

Taking from the poor to give to the rich is how "trickle down" economics work. Romney hid his money overseas and paid no taxes for 10 years.

"Romney Hood" should not be used since it would subliminally re-enforce our built-in name recognition circuitry. People are already mindlessly supporting Romney as it is; we don't need to brain wash any fence sitters.

Anybody seen the latest Obama ad on TV. He says he wants to increase the tax on rich just a little bit more to help offset the deficit. Now, did the rich people get America into debt or did Politicans get this country into debt. Why doesn't Obama say we(politicans, including the President) need to quit spending more than they are taking in.
