Obama debuts 'Romney Hood'

(CNN) – Legendary outlaw Robin Hood has suddenly assumed a featured role in the 2012 presidential campaign.

Adding a new attack line on Monday to his stump speech, the president railed against rival Mitt Romney's tax proposals, saying they amount to "Robin Hood in reverse."

"It's Romney Hood," the president added to loud applause from 500 supporters in a Stamford, Connecticut ballroom.

Obama's campaign isn't yet indicating whether the "Romney Hood" line will remain part of the president's stump speech.

The comments were in reference to a recent report from the non-partisan Tax Policy Institute that claims Romney's tax proposals are likely to result in a net tax increase of $2,000 for middle-class wage earners while cutting hundreds of thousands of dollars from the tax bills of the country's most wealthy.

"He'd ask the middle class to pay more in taxes so he could give another $250,000 to those making more than $3 million a year," Obama also said at the event. The Romney campaign has disputed the study, arguing that the analysis was flawed because it did not account for additional revenue that would result from a reduction in the corporate tax rate - another part of the candidate's plan.

The event was the first of two fund-raisers for the president in Connecticut Monday. Obama is expected to raise more than $2 million from both events combined.

Romney spokesman Ryan Williams responded to the president's remarks in a statement, calling the attacks false.

"President Obama recently said the biggest regret of his first term was not telling better stories. He's trying to make up for it now, but his stories just aren't true," Williams wrote. "There's only one candidate in this race who's going to raise taxes on the American people – and that's Barack Obama. While he's used taxpayer dollars to grow government and reward his donors, middle-class Americans have seen fewer jobs, lower incomes, and less hope for the future. Mitt Romney has a plan for a stronger middle class – and, unlike President Obama, a record of accomplishment behind it."

could obama have done more to help the economy?? maybe, but we'll never know thanks to a group of republicans in the house of representatives who call themselves "tea party republicans" and "true conservatives"

that's the real problem here, too bad no one notices it

    Gotta love the Democrats.

Love the 3rd world tactics. How well has that worked for them? Eh not so much.

Lefties have run a majority of Europe into the ground, now they want to do the same to the shining star of the west.

Emails obtained by The Daily Caller show that the U.S. Treasury Department, led by Timothy Geithner, was the driving force behind terminating the pensions of 20,000 salaried retirees at the Delphi auto parts manufacturing company. The move, made in 2009 while the Obama administration implemented its auto bailout plan, appears to have been made solely because those retirees were not members of labor unions. Most corrupt, two faced, lying administration ever. Come on November, Washington needs another flush.

What a surprise, more Obama rhetoric. The man can definitely speak, but that is not a viable replacement for being able to lead.

Clever sayings is what Obama is best at. Reducing unemployment and leading the country – Not so much.

How quickly you forget that we had 2 wars and the US Economy suffered a direct attack against the US Stock Exchange, with a Democratic House and a Democratic Senate combined with a US President...yet the economy was held in check with the stress put against it. Yet even with the Democrats controlling Congress and the White House, all they could do was blame the past, even thought they were a part of the past...even then Senator Obama had a hand in it. Now the Democrats with 2 years to do what they want and another 2 years to do most of what they want, we have a terrible economy, terrible economic outlook, greatly increased business regulations that slow economic growth, greatly increased national debt, greatly decreased consumer confidence, the highest tax increase in the history of the US (Obamacare is a tax, his lawyers argued for it to be considered a tax and the Supreme Court said that it was a tax).

Stop blaming G W Bush for Obama and the Democrats failed attempts at righting the ship. Otherwise Obama should complain of the economy that he inherited from him self, should he win this election.

The reason we don't have more jobs is simple. The "job creators" have learned that they can get by with less employees. That means more bonus at year end. No problem to replace someone one who leaves – the new employee will come in at a lesser salary. More money for bonuses! A high unemployment rate works for corporations.

Romney and his ilk may create some jobs – but they'll be minimum wage.

People complain about Obama's "rhetoric", meanwhile they have no problem with Romney not laying out specifics for ANY of his plans for the economy, taxes, deficit, etc. How do you cut taxes for everyone, build new aircraft carriers, increase the defense budget, AND reduce the deficit all at one time as he claims he will do? The GOP has blinders on. Romney's plans dont' make mathmatical sense!

Romney Hood steals from the poor to give to the rich. Romney is proposing to cut medicaid. What most people don't know is that is old people, like your parents, in nursing homes. In 23 states, now on the books, are laws that allow the State to sue the children for their parents medical care. Three states are already doing this. You children of the elderly will need to protect your assets and you need to take out medical insurance on your parents to keep from being sued.
Happy Romney Hood! Oh yes, and Medicare becomes a voucher.

It's sort of cute and/or endearing that you folks think that the office of The President holds that much power. We should just vote on which corporations we want to make the rules for us all.

Rob from the poor and give to the rich!!! How stupid is that statement? What poor people do you know that actually pay taxes? Not only do they get a total refund, most get a bonus with earned income credits. Not to mention free food through food stamps. Goverment subsidies through HUD for housing. Free medical care through medicaid. Grant money to go to college that you don't have to pay back. Give me a Break... You have to be a Complete IDIOT to think there is any truth to that statement. But it sure sounds good though doesn't it for those without brains.

  25. Common Sense

What I sense is a repeat of the "Trickle Down" policy from the 80's in Mr. Romney's proposed policies. It didn't work then because of the basic rule of business is make a profit. There is no other rule. If trickle down works then why there are companies that make millions/billions in profit but list a majority of their workers as part-time and not offered health insurance? Do you think these self same companies will bring jobs back to America because lowering their taxes will tempt them to do so? Just saying that somehow the logic of that concept escapes me.
