Obama debuts 'Romney Hood'

(CNN) – Legendary outlaw Robin Hood has suddenly assumed a featured role in the 2012 presidential campaign.

Adding a new attack line on Monday to his stump speech, the president railed against rival Mitt Romney's tax proposals, saying they amount to "Robin Hood in reverse."

"It's Romney Hood," the president added to loud applause from 500 supporters in a Stamford, Connecticut ballroom.

Obama's campaign isn't yet indicating whether the "Romney Hood" line will remain part of the president's stump speech.

The comments were in reference to a recent report from the non-partisan Tax Policy Institute that claims Romney's tax proposals are likely to result in a net tax increase of $2,000 for middle-class wage earners while cutting hundreds of thousands of dollars from the tax bills of the country's most wealthy.

"He'd ask the middle class to pay more in taxes so he could give another $250,000 to those making more than $3 million a year," Obama also said at the event. The Romney campaign has disputed the study, arguing that the analysis was flawed because it did not account for additional revenue that would result from a reduction in the corporate tax rate - another part of the candidate's plan.

The event was the first of two fund-raisers for the president in Connecticut Monday. Obama is expected to raise more than $2 million from both events combined.

Romney spokesman Ryan Williams responded to the president's remarks in a statement, calling the attacks false.

"President Obama recently said the biggest regret of his first term was not telling better stories. He's trying to make up for it now, but his stories just aren't true," Williams wrote. "There's only one candidate in this race who's going to raise taxes on the American people – and that's Barack Obama. While he's used taxpayer dollars to grow government and reward his donors, middle-class Americans have seen fewer jobs, lower incomes, and less hope for the future. Mitt Romney has a plan for a stronger middle class – and, unlike President Obama, a record of accomplishment behind it."

Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth ..... Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share....1 Timothy 6:17-18. Whoever trusts in his riches will fall, but the righteous will thrive like a green leaf. Proverbs 11:28. As the Robmoney continues to pander to the wants of the wealthy, may President Obama's campaign continue to grow in it's momentum and thrive.

You know, if you remove Romney's lack of a definite economic recovery plan ; not involving making the rich richer, remove the foreign affairs fiasco; insulting our allies and finally remove his lack of transparency with his taxes, I think he might have been able to take the gold! lololololololololololol Do you really want someone who lacks common sense strategy leading this nation? food for thought.

Every time a picture comes out of this man he has different color hair. Is he grey or not? If anyone would know about the "hood" it would be him being from Chicago. So, are we assume the hood is bad?

I think the highway bill will put us back on the map for one reason these jobs are what I called planning jobs. You can make plans and have money to implement your plans. Why because this will not be regional it will be nation wide and as people move around they need somewhere to live and since you have to work you can call your yardman back and the paperboy and get a home and we're growing again. We're going to need new everything because of not have waring everything out and think about the new cars that's going to be sold.

I am already tired of political speeches. They all say just about anything to get elected. If these two guys are the best we got... we deserve what we get. Unsustainable debt no matter who pays what.... An education system that is sub par and doesn't allow our kids to compete in the global market.... a health care system that is broke... and Obama care doesn't fix the problem but adds to it.... and now we think that we should invade Syria? Seriously? You know.... I read about these problems in a history book once.... seems the Roman Empire experienced civil unrest, a failing economy, and fighting wars abroad when they came crashing down!

Romney Hood as no plan other than the same old failed supply-side trickle-down "voodoo" economics of the past. That "giant sucking sound" you here is more hard earned middle class dollars being siphoned off for the top 1%!

How stupid does this arrogant SOB think the American public is? I guess we will find out come November.

Robs from the poor to give to the rich and still doesn't pay taxes. Show us your returns, Mitt!! How could we ever trust you with the Presidency if you can't even get your taxes in on time. Does it now take time to pretty them up so it looks as if you finally PAID some this go 'round?

Why would any American vote for a draft and war evading, non-tax paying coward with 5 coward sons, while some American boys and GIRLS have made as many as 7 trips to war and paid their taxes too ??

The problem for Romney and the GOP is that this story being told by President Obama is based on true events from the all too recent and very real past. Please, no more bedtime nightmare stories from the GOP for this country. The real fable being spun is the 12 million jobs that fairy godfather Mitt says he will magically create out of thin air. Does anyone really believe in that little tale of fantasy and deceit? Not me – I DON'T WANNA LIVE IN ROMNEY HOOD.

Romney would give to the rich by taking from the poor. It's not right.

Pres. Obama works to build a stronger middle class and greater opportunities for everyone to succeed.

The response from Romney: predictable, false in its outrage and blatantly meant to distract from the truth of the President's charge against the candidate's tax proposal. Instead of responding with a factual assertion, they resort, again, to bellicose rhetoric, devoid of substance and reason, full of bluster or, if you prefer "sound and fury, signifying nothing." Again, predictable.

It was only 3 days ago that MR and his advisers were saying this "" """""""""However, Romney and his advisers say specifics of the plan - such as which exemptions would be eliminated and other details - would be worked out only when the proposals are fully formulated in a Romney administration."""""""

The real US middle class needs to tell MR to stop pandering his trickle down b s while his primary objective is to preserve the Bush tax cuts for the very rich.

Romney is in much more serious trouble than his flacks make it seem. Bain offshoring and firings, tax returns, shifting taxes from the wealthy to the middle class, a pandering foreign trip, renunciation of his own MA health reform, etc. all play very badly with "swing" voters, who don't much like him to begin with. He must be unsure if his GOP base to be so willing to turn off independents,
