(CNN) – Legendary outlaw Robin Hood has suddenly assumed a featured role in the 2012 presidential campaign.
Adding a new attack line on Monday to his stump speech, the president railed against rival Mitt Romney's tax proposals, saying they amount to "Robin Hood in reverse."

"It's Romney Hood," the president added to loud applause from 500 supporters in a Stamford, Connecticut ballroom.
Obama's campaign isn't yet indicating whether the "Romney Hood" line will remain part of the president's stump speech.
The comments were in reference to a recent report from the non-partisan Tax Policy Institute that claims Romney's tax proposals are likely to result in a net tax increase of $2,000 for middle-class wage earners while cutting hundreds of thousands of dollars from the tax bills of the country's most wealthy.
"He'd ask the middle class to pay more in taxes so he could give another $250,000 to those making more than $3 million a year," Obama also said at the event. The Romney campaign has disputed the study, arguing that the analysis was flawed because it did not account for additional revenue that would result from a reduction in the corporate tax rate - another part of the candidate's plan.
The event was the first of two fund-raisers for the president in Connecticut Monday. Obama is expected to raise more than $2 million from both events combined.
Romney spokesman Ryan Williams responded to the president's remarks in a statement, calling the attacks false.
"President Obama recently said the biggest regret of his first term was not telling better stories. He's trying to make up for it now, but his stories just aren't true," Williams wrote. "There's only one candidate in this race who's going to raise taxes on the American people – and that's Barack Obama. While he's used taxpayer dollars to grow government and reward his donors, middle-class Americans have seen fewer jobs, lower incomes, and less hope for the future. Mitt Romney has a plan for a stronger middle class – and, unlike President Obama, a record of accomplishment behind it."

Romney tells us outright that he is going to cut taxes for the rich and we just...believe that they are "job creators". He keeps calling them that. "Obama is pounding on the job creators." Does that make sense? Who's gonna prevent people who are creating jobs from doing so? Duh!! They need to pay their taxes. Does anyone remember Leona Helmsly when she said that paying taxes is for the "little people"? Does anyone even care that we are being treated that way?

I would love to know how a corporate tax reduction has any impact on the INCOME TAX payable by anyone.
You see Mr Romney spokesman Ryan Williams I have a salary and allowances and pay Income taxes state and federal on my taxable income... my small business owner, big business owners savings in corporate taxes even if he/they uses them to increase my salary only increases my Income taxes!!
To have any validity your statement assumes a reduced rate of corporate taxes =
1) Increased corporate tax revenue ( not a certainty) that can then be used to offset the increased income tax as the current Romney plan does by $2000. But Romney plans don't define how that will be done. All this is not according to Obama but an independent panel that includes a former Bush advisor!!
2) Obama has NOT proposed or implemented tax increases on the middle class only ( reductions) on those earning over $200K single or $250K married, and before you warble again that only impacts 3% of all small business owners and they can manage just fine.
All this is noted in the non partisan report Obama is quoting. Stop rhetoric that sounds good and support it with how those additional ( debateable corporate taxes) will be applied to low / middle class income tax earners without further reducing taxes on the rich as well!!
Repubican tax theory is 2+2 dont equal 4 but 22; but thats fine 4 to minions ( middle class) and 18 to us rich!!

If Mitt have a better plan he has to put it public and show the Amecan people his taxe return like his father did. I believe if Mitt. R does not show the American people his taxe return he will regret that in November 06. Obama needs to put presure on his people to do more in the economic.

Mittens must release his tax returns. Even John McCain passed him over for Sarah Palin after he released 23 years of tax return. What is Mittens hiding? Harry Reid called him out about him not paying taxes. Outrageous it may be from Harry Reid–Mittens can quickly disproved Harry by releasing his tax returns. Release the tax returns to see if Harry's lying. Prove him wrong Mittens!

our president has established a new low in gamesmanship. I feel like we are seeing SNOOKY JERSY SHORE levels of dialogue than statesmanship and regality that was once the form of discussion in the USA. We can do better that this. Or are we that far under as a nation?

There is a problem with the term "Romney hood" as a reference to "Robin Hood". Robinhood stole from the GOVERNMENT and gave the money to the poor. He did NOT steal from the citizens.

Romney plan is to give more money to rich who are already saturated with trillions on their books and still wont hire. do mitten really think at a time when the rich are paying less taxes than anytime in history, less corporate taxes than most countries in the industrial world, I know the repubs will shout that American companies are the number one in the world in highest corporate taxes, but no company pay that high taxes. a matter of fact most companies in America pays less than half that, while some dont pay no taxes at all and some even get tax money instead of paying
any, look at GE. the repubs will have you think that high taxes are the reason why all these over successful businesses are hoarding trillions and wont hire folks. its good when your rich and powerful because you can feed the people crap, and their is no one on your level to opposed you. we might not have another president like Obama who is willing to fight on th average people against the rich and powerful, and their repub lackies.
