Obama raises $75 million in July, outpaced by Romney

(CNN) – President Barack Obama's re-election effort raised $75 million last month, his campaign announced Monday on Twitter.

The July haul falls far behind Republican rival Mitt Romney's fund-raising team, which raked in more than $101 million–the third month in a row in which Romney outraised Obama.

While last month's total trails that of Romney, it nonetheless marks an uptick in fundraising over the previous month of June, when Obama and the Democratic National Committee–known as the Obama Victory Fund–brought in $71 million.

Team Obama said of the 761,000 people who donated in July, 201,000 of them were new donors who had previously not contributed in this election cycle or in 2008.

Since April 2011, a total of 2.7 million people have pitched in, according to the campaign.

"Every bit helps," the president's Twitter account read on Monday.

The campaign also said 98% of contributions last month were $250 or less, with the average donation totaling $53.49.

While Obama's team did not report its cash-on-hand amount, Romney's campaign said it had $185.9 million in the bank.

When looking at money raised by the campaigns alone, however, Obama actually raised more than Romney in June, according to the Federal Election Commission (reports for July are not yet filed).

Obama for America, excluding the DNC and other state parties, raised $28.1 million in June, whereas Romney for President, excluding the Republican National Commitee and state parties, took in just over $23 million in the same month.

koch Brothers, millionaires and billionaires on Mitt Romney side. Make senses he want to cut their taxes even more. He's fighting for them not the middle class.

Other than negative ads, Mittens has nothing to run on. I think we will see the American people rejecting the republican plutocracy, and the Kochs, Rove and Adelson. What is sauce for the gander just may cook Mittens' goose.

GOP raised hugh money to have a big fancy party, eventually at the expense of taxpayer.

No way this country can afford to have BUSH 3.0

    ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.

ROMNEY so far demonstrates he is skirting around issues he doesn't want to disclose or deceiful.

Until he disclosed his tax returns, what loopoles he took, American will not trust him to lead the tax reform, a fairer tax.

As he said it himself, the corporation is people too, his job has to look after corporations, like his, his friends, and his big time doner.

THE WRITING IS ON THE WALL.

It makes perfect sense Romney is raising more money. His supporters are sitting on all the money. Too bad corporations won't spend any of their huge reserves on hiring people.
However, our President Obama, is receiving the majority of his money from ordinary people, who are truly afraid for our future if Romney were to win.

Wow this guy is named right! If you are talking about the 'Soldiers' that the prez lawsuit is attacking... then Warmonger is not the word that any patriotic American should use. You are either misinformed, or a selfish person that doesnt care about the sacrifices our military makes for you every single day!

I don’t care either way on this Ohio lawsuit thing... but your comment is unacceptable.
Somewhere today an American is dying to protect YOUR freedom. Never forget that.

It is good to see that the American people are finally coming to their senses. Obama has been a total disaster so it is time for him to go back home to Chicago. They are missing you Obama so I am sure you will really get a great welcome back from them. Romney in November/12. Let us get America back on track with Romney at the helm.

People are stupid I tell you. Obama got the bankers money overwhelmingly in 2008. Now that Romney is the one getting it, its because that's bad for Romney. Grow up people!

The San Diego Union Tribune predicted a landslide by Mitt Romney in November, drawing clear comparisons between Obama: Romney and Carter: Reagan. It's shaping up well and the Republican victory in November will be decisive. It's getting time for Democratic congressmen to do what is necessary for saving their own jobs and distancing themselves from Obama. I believe this is what we will start seeing soon.

How sweet it is. Obama was bragging and trying to scare off any Republican running for president that he was going to be the first Billion Dollar candidate. All that did was rev up people who want to get him out of office.

Obama is coming in second in the money race and he will be second on election day too.

Mitt Romney cannot even fight his way out of a tax return paper bag. He's used to getting his own way, making his own rules, and his dumbfounded by the fact that no one is submitting to his will. Romney is either a fool, vain, arrogant, or all of the above.

Do you demwits really believe that Obama is getting his funding from small donors? Clooney, Sarandon, Penn, Soros, Wall Street, Insurance companies, etc. Obama is fully funded by the 1% you hate so much.

That's going to be tough to pull of after Romney's October surprise, the refusal to release his 2011 tax returns before Election Day. He filed for an extension, and promised to release them two weeks prior to the election. Anyone with half a brain knows that releasing his returns that close to the election is unwise. But, that is the promise that Romney made to The People, and it is a promise that he will break. I cannot wait to see him lie his way out of his promise.

You can't fool everyone all of the time, but you can fool some people some of the time. Obama has duped $75M out of the less observant portion of the country. Don't be fooled again in 2008-Obama has failed our economy.

Romney understands the economy and can at least make government more efficient.

Obama/ Biden 2012 has realized they are outgunned by the support for Mitt Romney so now it's time to unleash the cheaper campaign method... like having Harry Reid spout off unsubstantiated cheap cuts against the opponent and let him take a little heat for the good of the Washington DC Democratic political machine.

Obama has more fundraisers as president than the last 5 presidents COMBINED. Is anyone else curious what he is doing at this time in office.

Romney is the best candidate in 2012.
