Obama raises $75 million in July, outpaced by Romney

(CNN) – President Barack Obama's re-election effort raised $75 million last month, his campaign announced Monday on Twitter.

The July haul falls far behind Republican rival Mitt Romney's fund-raising team, which raked in more than $101 million–the third month in a row in which Romney outraised Obama.

While last month's total trails that of Romney, it nonetheless marks an uptick in fundraising over the previous month of June, when Obama and the Democratic National Committee–known as the Obama Victory Fund–brought in $71 million.

Team Obama said of the 761,000 people who donated in July, 201,000 of them were new donors who had previously not contributed in this election cycle or in 2008.

Since April 2011, a total of 2.7 million people have pitched in, according to the campaign.

"Every bit helps," the president's Twitter account read on Monday.

The campaign also said 98% of contributions last month were $250 or less, with the average donation totaling $53.49.

While Obama's team did not report its cash-on-hand amount, Romney's campaign said it had $185.9 million in the bank.

When looking at money raised by the campaigns alone, however, Obama actually raised more than Romney in June, according to the Federal Election Commission (reports for July are not yet filed).

Obama for America, excluding the DNC and other state parties, raised $28.1 million in June, whereas Romney for President, excluding the Republican National Commitee and state parties, took in just over $23 million in the same month.

Why have so many 2008 donors decided not to donate to Obama in this election, and why are democratic congress men and women distnacing themselves from the government?

  2. You People Aint Seeing Our Tax Returns

When will Romney start leading in the polls?

All the money in the world would not make him likeable while hiding his taxes.

Job number 1 of a community organizer – find something/someone to blame and organize people to blame them. How's that working out now, economy still in the tank but were out $6 trillion. Should have saved the $6 trillion and we still would have been better off.

Job number one for a salesman is to make profit for himself. Mitt Romney is a salesman, not a statesman.

Barack Obama may have been a "community organizer", but at least he understood real people with real problems. He was helping people find jobs, find medical care, find legal advice, etc. You know. Love thy neighbor. That sort of stuff.

That's going to be tough to pull of after Romney's October surprise, the refusal to release his 2011 tax returns before Election Day.

Sorry Rudy, but the issues for American Voters in 2012 are a little bigger than tax returns. ( What, you think there are 140 million IRS Agents in America?!?! )
No, Americans are still looking at The Economy, jobs, national debt and how well Obama has performed for us all from 2009 to 2012. Obama's best bet is to continue trying to divert, but seriously that is not possible anymore.

Four and the Door, I think tax issues are relevent, especially when Mitt insists on lowering his rates. Might be worthwhile to see if there is any possible gain for the man.

So, 761,000 people donated to President Obama's campaign while approximately 632,200 donated to Rmoney's. Looks like Obama has more support. Remember, you still only get one vote, no matter how many $$$ you contribute.

Americans are still looking at the economy. When they compare Obama's vision to Romney's vision, it doesn't make much to see the differences. Romney wants to give himself tax breaks and givethe middle class tax increases, while increasing the annual deficit by $500 billion. Obama's plan does the exact opposite on all counts.

Romney is funded by Israel and it's supporters. Will we really allow a foreign government buy our highest office? I don't believe that Obama has been good for America, but I know that Romney will be a disaster. And Romney has already sold us out to Israel.

I am sure a good piece of that came from all the Green investors buddies of his that he has thrown deals the last 3.5 years. Of course his big donor from Solyndra he let him get out from under the loan so us taxpayers could eat it. There is more double dealing and rewarding of major donors in this white house than all 5 previous Presidents put together.

Wanna bet? Those tax returns are important NOW and they will become even more important in October – because each time he refuses to make them public, he draws MORE questions, but keep telling yourself this issue will go away if it helps you sleep better.

Instead of the dollar amount, let us see the number of people who donate. Koch Bros, Adelson, Trump, Cheney, Rove only count for 7 votes total, no matter how much they give.

That's exactly right, Obama was a "community organizer" organizing ways to protest such as voting, etc....this is why he is the wrong man for the job of president, because he never dealt with budgets, taxes, permits, jobs, finances, water and garbage, education, safety,etc.... and on top of that he didn't take any academics to prepare him for the job of president in such courses as public finance, economics, state & local finances, international trade & finance, strategic management, administration, etc... you get the picture, don't you?
