Romney huddles with advisers in Wolfeboro

Wolfeboro, New Hampshire (CNN) – Mitt Romney enjoyed a brief respite from the campaign trail Sunday and Monday, though the presumptive GOP nominee still managed to squeeze in work sessions with his team.

The presumptive GOP presidential nominee spent part the day Monday huddling with senior advisers, many of whom made the two-hour drive from his campaign headquarters in Boston to meet with Romney at his property on Lake Winnipesaukee in central New Hampshire.

Romney will spend the rest of the week on the road, including stops in Illinois and Iowa Tuesday, and an event in Des Moines on Wednesday.

He has yet to announce his vice presidential running mate, but Romney is stirring speculation by appearing with some possible contenders on an upcoming bus tour, which was first reported by CNN's Peter Hamby.

The GOP candidate will stump alongside Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell, Florida Sen. Marco Rubio and Ohio Sen. Rob Portman on the tour, which begins Saturday and also includes a visit to North Carolina.

Monday was also the first day the Romney campaign worked with a protective press pool, which covered the candidate's movements in a similar way the White House press pool covers President Barack Obama.

In the morning, a small group of reporters was part of Romney's traveling motorcade when he ventured into town to pick up items at a hardware store, a grocery store and a Rite Aid Pharmacy. Once Romney returned to his home, the protective poolers were kept miles away, leaving them unable to see who was coming and going.

A campaign aide confirmed the GOP candidate was meeting with senior advisers, which usually includes campaign manager Matt Rhoades, Eric Fehrnstrom, Peter Flaherty, Beth Myers (who is leading the V.P. search), as well as strategists Russ Schriefer and Stuart Stevens.

CNN was not sequestered like the protective pool and spotted Stevens arriving in the late morning. By 10:30 a.m. ET there were seven vehicles parked on the cul-de-sac near Romney's driveway. They were gone by 3 p.m. ET, meaning Romney met with many of his advisers for at least four and a half hours.

Many of the same cars were parked outside Romney's house when the candidate was in Wolfeboro on Saturday, July 21, when CNN saw some of the same advisers arriving or departing. Romney met with a number of the same aides the week of July 4, when he was staying in Wolfeboro with his extended family.

In addition to fabricated accusations from a dirty liar, like Harry Reid, Romney has to overcome a biased mainstream media who is in the tank for Obama. Thank God most Americans are finally waking up to the truth.

Sad that there is not a single qualified candidate on Romney's list. Independent and moderate voters will be turned off by his selection.

Romney can try all the different ways to beat the President he wants. Bottom line is he just doesn't have what it takes to be POTUS. All the people working for him and his campaign and all the advisors & well known political figures can't be up on the World Stage platform when the 1st Debt takes place. Guaranteed, he's not going to get a good grade. He does not talk about things he doesn't want to. And that is exactly when he has NO choice. TAXES ??? Anybody ?????

A Cuban on the ballot means nothing to the general population of the
Hispanic community. Most Latin Americans don't like Cubans

Cubans have enjoyed a status not accorded to any other immigrant group over time. In this work,Illegal Immigrants from Cuba: Preferential Treatment

Of course no republican will say anything about this as most cubans tend to vote republican

He also went to a hardware store. When a member of the press asked what he bought, Robmey replied, "hardware stuff". I guess Robmey has no plan for anything, including shopping needs.

Any politician with half a brain (and, most have proven they don't even muster that much) should run in the opposite direction of Mitt the Twit. This guy is a walking trainwreck and is gonna drag everyone else down who is associated with him. His disdain for women and working class americans is alarming; but his foriegn affairs prowess is disturbingly poor. Combine that with his nepotism for mormons and you have a disaster trifecta. Run, run far away....

In my opinion, his continued secretiveness is reason enough not to vote Romney.

So now he is seeking the support of women?
He is touring the new confederacy rising state of Virginia with the internal va ginal probe governor.
Does he realize that women and men protested against this back to the 50s governor who is agains women's rights.
I still wonder what Virginians were drinking when they elected this guy. His campaign commercials were of his boys going to work and the girls gonig to grandmas to bake cookies!!! Yes, that's what the rethugs think of women. Barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen and you better drop those babies when I say so.

    Where are those taxes?
Romney you have yet to answer to a lot of conflicting claims and issues concerning your professional life as a business man and politician that are very disconcerting. And it behoves me to the point that I am compelled to pose the question as to why half of this country and news media seem to turn a blind eye to getting to the bottom of the old bait and switch game. From congress to the so called journalist, no one seem to be doing their jobs. This country is going to the dogs and we the people are being taken for a car ride on the roof tops of lies locked in a cage.
