Reid's Romney tax claims put GOP in a bind

Washington (CNN) - Republican sources say they're in a Catch-22 situation on how to reply to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid's claims that GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney went 10 years without paying taxes.

They understand that they're taking Reid's bait and that responding to his unsubstantiated claims against Romney to keeps alive the issue of Romney's refusing to release his tax returns.

It's funny the one thing Robmey is sticking to and not flip flopping about is releasing his taxes. I'm not saying he didn't pay, but there is definitely a reason he won't do what all other candidates have done. Whether Reid's source is credible or not, all Willard has to do is comply. But he won't. He's a bigger crook than Nixon.

    OBAMA 2012!

The GOP is in a bind over Reid's innuendoes!?
Only for those who think innuendo passes as fact..., like Dana Bash.

We should naturally believe Romney since he has such a long history of truth telling (insert laughter here). Also, the GOP is well know for their ethics, Watergate, Iran Contra, Tea Pot Dome Scandal, Jack Abramoff, Duke Cunningham, etc. Whatever is in those tax returns must be very damaging for Romney to take this kind of heat and still refuse to release his returns. If they have not been released by the election, President Obama wins.

It is not all about taking the bait, it is about doing what is sensible and what is right for the people to know. Romney claims he released 2 years Tax Returns. What was that for? And why did he do so??? And he released them to whom?? If he will answer these questions, he will come to the conclusion that he is wasting peoples time, at the same time testing how people think.

It is Romney who is keeping this issue alive by not being open and honest with the American people by refusing to show his tax returns. It is not a matter of releasing what is required by law, it is a matter of revealing a presidential candidate's level of honesy, integrity, moral judgement, and sense of fair play. It gives America a snapshot of Romney's true character.

There is no bind. Romney can end this controversy by releasing his tax returns. Unless, of course, Romney has something to hide.

  9. 92 Days until Obama is RE-ELECTED

If there's no issues with Mittens taxes, then RELEASE THEM and the problem goes away....!!
But if there ARE issues that would show the American people how the 1% have tax loopholes and opportunities that the 99% don't have, then the problems continue, and Willard will have to ADMIT that he has no clue how the real wold lives (but we already knew that, don't we!).

I actually hope he doesn't and continues to dig his feet in. People that didn't trust him before, definitely don't trust him now. I think there is more to the Bain thing too. He says he left in 99, but he is listed as sole owner and shareholder until 2001? Stevie Wonder could see through his lies. Keep lying Willard, the truth shall set us free!

    OBAMA 2012!

The cowardly Willard could make Reid out to be a liar if he would show the returns....that is unless Reid's source is correct on Mitten's tax-dodging ways. Then Willard would be very unpatriotic, hiding his money overseas when our troops could have used that money to uparmor some humvees and get more body armor.
Bottom line is Willard has already tacitly admitted that his returns contain a whole bunch of ammunition for our POTUS when he said that releasing his returns would just give President Obama more material to attack the bishop. Makes me wonder just how much dirt is contained within those returns.
Be the man your father was Willard, show us your papers! As you and your campaign said in prior election contests in MA, "What is he (Willard) hiding?!?!?"

The irony is that Democrats are so worked up by this tax return distraction. Pathetic that Obama/ Biden 2012 has gotten to this point. Think about it. Who gives a hoot what Mitt Romney paid on his taxes? I really don't. Because if he has been able to satisfy a variety of American tax incentives which reduce the final tax due from his gross income then he is doing with his income exactly those things that the federal government is encouraging through tax law. He is putting his money to work for ways that create jobs or he is making charitable donations. Whatever, The most important part is that he is adhering to American tax law. And certainly he is.

So now when is Obama/ Biden 2012 going to talk about the economy, jobs, national debt and what they have done to help the middle class in the last over 3 1/2 years? These are the issues and they will not go away. Romney 2012. By a huge margin.

Romney is hiding something so damaging to his campaign, that he would rather face the fallout he's seeing now from refusing to show them. Is that the kind of person America wants for President? Really??

Reid's Romney tax claims put GOP in a bind

    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Not at all – unless mittens has something to hide. He could clear this up in 30 seconds AND make Harry Reid look really bad at the same time. His continued obfuscation on the matter is a pretty good indication that Harry's right!

The GOP is not in a bind; the democrats have another Anthony Weiner moment; we have the majority leader in the Senate lying to the American people; another Democrat that will stand there and lie thru his teeth to achieve their agenda no matter what it costs or affects. When does the Harry Reid ethics investigation start?

Regardless what Sen. Reid says, Romney needs to release his tax returns as the majority of Americans, including independents, think he should do.

Don't trust what Romney is hiding.

. Harry Reid is a bold faced liar and should never have been elected to represent the great state of Nevada. Shame on you. Fool me once but not again. Didnt he have to swear in as well? Well, he will go where all bold face liars will go...too bad we elected this guy with 0 integrity and 0 ethics and 0 morals. He must not be an Eagle Scout.

Harry is playing hardball and winning....republicans like successful outspoken winners who have worked their way up to be somebody.....they should love this man and sing his praise!!! I think Romney needs to follow his own advice and "put up or shut up"!!!

So easy to solve the problem: release the tax returns! Is there something like the deal for Seat Pagine Gialle that shouldn't be seen?

Trust Romney as President with Tax Policy when he won't come clean on his own?

Hiding behind Senators and political hacks, political attacks, anything but be honest to America.

What does the American voter think? We'll know come November.

Reid has to be insane to think anyone running for President would not have kept his taxes paid. If I recall right Pres. Obama had some things he did not want us to know about. (Not talking about birth certificate) things he would not disclose to the public. President Obama has a lot of things stuck away in the closet, if he wants a open book, be the leader as he should be and lay his laundry on the table also.
