Romney: President's jab is a bunch of 'Obamaloney'

(CNN) - The political puns won't stop.

After being labeled "Romney Hood" - Robin Hood in reverse - by the president Monday, presumptive GOP nominee Mitt Romney fired back with his own wordplay Tuesday, calling President Barack Obama's jab a bunch of "Obamaloney."

"He is serving up a dish that is in contradiction to the truth," Romney said in an interview with Fox News.

Romney's lunch meat rebuttal came the day after Obama, speaking at a campaign rally in Connecticut, railed against Romney's tax proposals, saying they amount to "Robin Hood in reverse."

"It's Romney Hood," the president added to loud applause from 500 supporters in a Stamford, Connecticut ballroom.

The comments were in reference to a recent report from the non-partisan Tax Policy Institute that claims Romney's tax proposals are likely to result in a net tax increase of $2,000 for middle-class wage earners while cutting hundreds of thousands of dollars from the tax bills of the country's most wealthy.

"He'd ask the middle class to pay more in taxes so he could give another $250,000 to those making more than $3 million a year," Obama also said at the event. The Romney campaign has disputed the study, arguing that the analysis was flawed because it did not account for additional revenue that would result from a reduction in the corporate tax rate - another part of the candidate's plan.

Romney spokesman Ryan Williams responded to the president's remarks in a statement Monday night, calling the attacks false.

"President Obama recently said the biggest regret of his first term was not telling better stories. He's trying to make up for it now, but his stories just aren't true," Williams wrote. "There's only one candidate in this race who's going to raise taxes on the American people – and that's Barack Obama. While he's used taxpayer dollars to grow government and reward his donors, middle-class Americans have seen fewer jobs, lower incomes, and less hope for the future. Mitt Romney has a plan for a stronger middle class – and, unlike President Obama, a record of accomplishment behind it."

CNN's Alex Mooney and Kevin Liptak contributed to this report.

Will Mittens ever be man enough to come out of the Faux News bubble and talk to the 99% who aren't brainwashed by the likes of Hannity, Beck, Limbaugh, Coulter, Palin etc?? Of course, he's probably the fakest of them all so he's right where he belongs – maybe after he loses Fox will hire him like they did Palin!!

What I want to know is, the original tax cuts that are in place today that included EVERYONE, was implemented back when W was still president before Obama was even the democratic nominee... Now supposedly with those tax breaks to the wealthy they would be able to create more jobs...

So, after all this time with these tax breaks, where are the jobs, and how can they justify using that for the reason to continue the breaks or give even more to the wealthy... They haven't used them to create any more jobs, they have just scurried away the money and used it to increase their own portfolio...

So, how can anyone who claims to have any brains at all be for extending the tax cuts to the riches people, especially when they are suing the same reason that hasn't worked for going on 6 years???

Also, the reality is that the majority of the people posting on here have no real concept of taxes anyway or how they actually work... Mitt Romney's main source of income is capital gains... Gapital gains is among the lowerst tax there is... Add in deductions (like 77K for a horse) and it is very possible to end up paying no taxes or even getting a refund... I work a one of the major tax companies and I know how it works... Romney has until the 15th of October (6 month from the April 15th deafline) to get his 2011 taxes in... That gives him plenty of time to tweak the number to make them look more presentable...

So, when you take into account the fact that the rich have not created any jobs with the tax breaks they have had, and with all the loopholes and deductions available to people with enough income to take advantage, you can basically pay less the the average family making less than 100K a year...

Those are FACT people... So anyone who think the rich deserve the break and that they are paying more than the average person are just plain ignorant when it comes to taxes and tax law when you figure the percentages they pay... Usually 15% or less on average...

I am sorry, but Romney campaign is so like a bunch of high school or even elementary kids. Could not even come back with something a little different. Copycat, copycat is what we said when we were little. Romney does not have an original thought and plan for this country. He is controlled by too many with $'s and if he is elected there will be many paybacks. Obama has been trying and he does care for the middle class and this country so he gets my vote. The republicians should have found a better candidate to run. Romney will make the rest of world laugh at us. He thinks he can buy respect like he has everything else. All the money is the Swiss bank accounts will not get that for him. Romney really acts like a child sometimes – very silly. Cannot wait unti the debates. If this campaign has become toxic guess where it began.

Really? Romney comes back with a term for the President because he came up with one for him? What, we are children now. How infantile.

He is a corporate assassin, that's all i need to know.

BTW, as I recall Romney was asked a while back if he evr paid less than 14% and he was going to check and get back to us... A few days later his campaign said they decided not to respond to that after all... HMMMMM, kinda makes ya wonder just how low it was if they wouldn't answer after they said they would...

It is a sad day when the most powerful men on earth resort to name calling... Both candidates should focus on real issues, tell the truth, and put the American citizen ahead of their special interest groups. Unfortunately, we live in a two party system where money and special interest groups get you into office, not merit, values, or vision. Instead we have smear campaigns, and this horrific crap of an article to help sway our decisions at the polls... it is time for something new. I am not sure what it is, but this can't be as good as it gets.

I'll give it a B- for effort, but a D for actual staying power. Sorry, Romney Hood, but Obama beat you to the punch in the nickname game and hit far harder.

These guys are starting to sound like children.
All the money in the world isn't going to buy secrecy for Romney's tax returns.
Either he shows them or he loses.
It's that simple and he knows it.

It's what I've said all along. If Romney is elected President, America will become a country run by the rich, for the benefit of the rich with the middle class, the poor and the elderly picking up the tab. You don't think all those donors of hundreds of millions of dollars are going to go away without putting their hand out for a thank you do you?

Willard believes the baloney of the mormon cult. Yeah Jesus Christ was a polygamist, yeah Jesus Christ preached to the American Indians, yeah Indians are the 13 th tribe of Israel(can be proven to be wrong by DNA), Joseph Smith the polygamist and bank fraud con found gold tablets given to him by some angel moroni in ancient Eqyptian that he translated(his translations of papyrus has been proven wrong), Brigham Young who had 56 wifes was a holy man. I wonder what Brigham Young thought of his 19th wife who divorced him. I wonder what the men and children Brigham Young massacred in Utah thought of him. They were killed because they were not mormon. Yeah the Garden of Eden is in Missouri. Yeah where North St Louis. Mormon cult would not allow black priests until 1978. Yeah polygamy was fine until 1890 and Utah became a state in 1896. Maybe a link there ???? Non-mormons can't go into temples. More secrets. I can walk into the Vatican or Cantebury Cathedral. Mormons believe that only mormons go the the planet kolob their heaven. Where in the King James Bible is this ? Mormons hiding polygamist all over the western states like FLDS and their hero Warren Jeffs. Here is the baloney. Willard wants to be president. What a joke. Mormons need to get educated and find out all the stuff in their cult stolen from freemasonry. Don't tell me it is can act of faith. Baloney !!!!!

Rudy, you are technically correct, there have been no tax increases. But, you leave out the fact that the deductions have changed, i.e. been reduced, which a normal person will see as a "tax increase."
Come on you and the other liberal schills on here, tell ALL the facts, or as Paul Harvey used to say, "the rest of the story."

    – Wilson please explain what deductions have been reduced. Under the Obama's presidency, the Making Work Pay Credit was extended. In fact, the president fought and tried to make the credit permanent. He also temporarily reduced the payroll tax for every employee by 2% and extended the Bush tax rates.

You have to gaggle When the liberal Dems say, we the 99%, criticize and do not support Romney, it is more like the 1/2% because 100% of small business owners in this country are part of the 99% and they want noting to do with Obama – or as Mitt would say Obamaloney - and the job creators of the nation would say Oblamo and the many independent would say Oblah blah

Obamalonety is gonna need 3 or more teleprompters this campaign becasue he is talking out of so many sides of his mouth at the same time it is hard to keep up with him

@Nametold – "Reagan disclosed only one year of tax returns, McCain disclosed 2 years."
Not sure about Reagan but since McCain's been in the Senate for upteen years he has released returns for all of them so all were released before running for the presidency. Mittens is definitely hiding something that would cost him the election and if people are stupid enough to vote for him may God bless us all! Funny how all you Repub/Tea Partiers claim Obama lied about transparency yet you'll accept this from Mittens – really????
