Romney: President's jab is a bunch of 'Obamaloney'

(CNN) – The political puns won't stop.

After being labeled "Romney Hood" - Robin Hood in reverse - by the president Monday, presumptive GOP nominee Mitt Romney fired back with his own wordplay Tuesday, calling President Barack Obama's jab a bunch of "Obamaloney."

"He is serving up a dish that is in contradiction to the truth," Romney said in an interview with Fox News.

Romney's lunch meat rebuttal came the day after Obama, speaking at a campaign rally in Connecticut, railed against Romney's tax proposals, saying they amount to "Robin Hood in reverse."

"It's Romney Hood," the president added to loud applause from 500 supporters in a Stamford, Connecticut ballroom.

The comments were in reference to a recent report from the non-partisan Tax Policy Institute that claims Romney's tax proposals are likely to result in a net tax increase of $2,000 for middle-class wage earners while cutting hundreds of thousands of dollars from the tax bills of the country's most wealthy.

"He'd ask the middle class to pay more in taxes so he could give another $250,000 to those making more than $3 million a year," Obama also said at the event. The Romney campaign has disputed the study, arguing that the analysis was flawed because it did not account for additional revenue that would result from a reduction in the corporate tax rate - another part of the candidate's plan.

Romney spokesman Ryan Williams responded to the president's remarks in a statement Monday night, calling the attacks false.

"President Obama recently said the biggest regret of his first term was not telling better stories. He's trying to make up for it now, but his stories just aren't true," Williams wrote. "There's only one candidate in this race who's going to raise taxes on the American people – and that's Barack Obama. While he's used taxpayer dollars to grow government and reward his donors, middle-class Americans have seen fewer jobs, lower incomes, and less hope for the future. Mitt Romney has a plan for a stronger middle class – and, unlike President Obama, a record of accomplishment behind it."

CNN's Alex Mooney and Kevin Liptak contributed to this report.

Robin Hood stole from the government to give to the people. Pres Obama takes from the people to give to his cronies. Pres Obama fits the role of the Sherriff of Nottingham much better than he fits the role of Robin Hood.

  4. What is Mitt Hiding?

Ever notice tha Mitt the twit only gives interviews or rebuttals to FOX news? Notice that he has made a deal with them that as long as they don't ask him hard questions, and keep allowing him to go on and on without being questioned, he will give them the exclusive. Here is my question. What is Mitt Hiding?

We are sure in a world of hurt. It is certanly a time when we will be required to pick the lessor of two evils. They are actually so much alike that it is amazing. The only difference between the two is who they blow for all the money needed for their elections. Nothing is happening in support of the working poor and middle class and both sides are attacking some segment of the other side. For the record, the folks that don't work in this country just barely outnumber the super rich, neither of them is paying taxes. Everyone knows what we need, we need to revamp the tax system and insure that everyone is invested by paying a fair share. Instead what we get is "no taxes on the rich" from the GOP and no taxes on the poor from the Dems. When will the majority of us, the real tax payers stand up and say STFU and legislate for our good? Based on all the partisan crap I see on CNN, my guess is never but I sure can't understand why it is that we let the minority lobbyists from both sides bribe our lawmakers, while we continue to get hammered.

Obama's health care bill has more hidden tax increases in the form of payroll taxes, energy taxes, and small business-crippling taxes that are going to be felt by the middle class more than anything Mitt Romney would ever dream of unleashing.

To even pretend that Romney wants to tax the middle class more than Obama is to say that the sun is blue and the sky is red. Flat out lie, or flat out insanity. Take your pick.

How is it that Obamas people can say whatever they want about Mitt (slander, lible, etc) even if it's not true. Tying him to a steel workers death. Saying he hasn't paid taxes in 10 years? etc. The scariest thing is many people are eating it up without any substantiation or proof. Does that not bother anyone on the left??? WOW.

How does cutting corporate taxes add money to the government coffers? What if corporations don't do anything but pocket the saved money from their tax break – just like they've done with every break they've gotten in the last 30 years? Thje deficit will balloon and we'll be stuck with it through cuts to our Social Security, Medicare, our children's college tuition and grant money, etc. Romney's tax plan is the thing that's balogna.

So... The Democrats tell a lie so they can get at the truth? What happens if Romney does show that he has paid taxes. Even though it would prove the democrats lied Ihey would then just start with another. Anything to keep us from paying attention to Obama's record and our current economic situation. I think Romney would be a fool to provide any additional tax info...

Bold move by Harry Reid! Reid has nothing to lose by saying that Romney paid no taxes. Romney is now in a real bind. He will have to release his tax returns, and that spells damage, damage, damage...
    --------–

I disagree, Harry Reid telling this lie makes me wonder how many more lies has he told the American people to get his way, for example, he was trying to get a bill passed that had to do with Green Energy in Nevada and I read his sons and the law firm they work for were going to get a kick-back and so was Harry Reid. The law firm is Lionel Sawyer & Collins. I think Harry Reid has lost a lot of voters with this lie he is telling, now if Reid produces his source of information than things would change. I think Reid should turn the person over to the IRS or FBI and let them find out if this person acquired the info on Romney's taxes legally, if it is true by evidence.
    ____________________________________________________________________

You believe what Harry Reid is saying Myviewis because you are responding to it. I learned a long time ago that you can't DENY anything without ACKNOWLEDGING it first. Your guy is finished and YOU know it just like I do.

What about his tax returns? What is he hiding that he's willing to sustain all this damage to keep hidden? 10 years of not paying taxes?

And what about his tenure at Bain Capital? When did it end? Do you think the SEC would recognize the existence of such a thing as "retroactive retirement"?

A better one would have been "Obamalarkey" for two reasons: One, it's more clever and rolls off the tongue better. Two, malarkey is a phrase from the 1950s, just like Romney's views on women.

The only difference between Obama and Romney is that Obama has a WAY better sense of humor. Obamaloney does not have the same comedic punch as Romneyhood.
