Romney: President's jab is a bunch of 'Obamaloney'

(CNN) – The political puns won't stop.

After being labeled "Romney Hood" - Robin Hood in reverse - by the president Monday, presumptive GOP nominee Mitt Romney fired back with his own wordplay Tuesday, calling President Barack Obama's jab a bunch of "Obamaloney."

"He is serving up a dish that is in contradiction to the truth," Romney said in an interview with Fox News.

Romney's lunch meat rebuttal came the day after Obama, speaking at a campaign rally in Connecticut, railed against Romney's tax proposals, saying they amount to "Robin Hood in reverse."

"It's Romney Hood," the president added to loud applause from 500 supporters in a Stamford, Connecticut ballroom.

The comments were in reference to a recent report from the non-partisan Tax Policy Institute that claims Romney's tax proposals are likely to result in a net tax increase of $2,000 for middle-class wage earners while cutting hundreds of thousands of dollars from the tax bills of the country's most wealthy.

"He'd ask the middle class to pay more in taxes so he could give another $250,000 to those making more than $3 million a year," Obama also said at the event. The Romney campaign has disputed the study, arguing that the analysis was flawed because it did not account for additional revenue that would result from a reduction in the corporate tax rate - another part of the candidate's plan.

Romney spokesman Ryan Williams responded to the president's remarks in a statement Monday night, calling the attacks false.

"President Obama recently said the biggest regret of his first term was not telling better stories. He's trying to make up for it now, but his stories just aren't true," Williams wrote. "There's only one candidate in this race who's going to raise taxes on the American people – and that's Barack Obama. While he's used taxpayer dollars to grow government and reward his donors, middle-class Americans have seen fewer jobs, lower incomes, and less hope for the future. Mitt Romney has a plan for a stronger middle class – and, unlike President Obama, a record of accomplishment behind it."

CNN's Alex Mooney and Kevin Liptak contributed to this report.

It's clearly obvious that Hussein Obama can't even accuse Romney of not paying taxes himself. He has Buffoon Reid do it for him.

Be a man Obama and accuse him yourself instead of having others do your Chitown dirty work.

This is when you know the Republicans are in trouble. You can also tell by reading these outlandish comments posted by the low information anti-Obama crowd. Reid scored a body blow with this one.

The whole Democratic party is spewing Obamaloney as a diversion to the the main issues, and a smoke screen to the fact that, for the past 3.5 years, NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE. Has ANYONE'S life-situation improved during Obi-wan-obama's presidency ? JOBS...? Yeah, right !
    -------------–
And even less has been done during the past 18 months when the Tea Party House promised the American people that they would create jobs and save the country. How do you explain that?

@myviewis. Obviously you're paying attention to the Democratic sound bites. Just remember that 92% of people wanting employment have jobs. For those trying to refinance their homes, they should have listened to all the warnings being given about high risk mortgages. I'm excited that home prices have dropped so low and mortgage rates are near zero! Great time to buy a house!

Sorry media pimps, but the old deficit dog won't hunt anymore. You are embarrassing yourselves when you bring this up because everybody knows the media and least of all republicans cared anything about the deficit for eight long years and in fact rabbit mouth chenney said openly several times that deficits didn't matter so find another tag line, this one doesn't work any longer. Bottom line is, people have made up their minds and have shut you people out because you are no longer creditable or relevant especially CNN and NBC! Thank goodness, for a while I was actually worried that you might influence some people but again Americans proved themselves to be a lot smarther than what I had given then credit for and I was the one being fooled by the media with their sensational headlines and selective comment posts.

  7. To Pam @ 2:44 who seems to think that if there was a "problem" with Romney's taxes the IRS would have done something . . .

Romney hired the best tax accountants, financial advisors and tax lawyers so he could "legally" pay nothing in taxes. do you think that's what we want in our President? Someone who uses high-paid professionals to game the system? . . .

Mitt will release his tax returns if Obama releases his school records that no one has ever heard of. How is it that no one in colombia had ever seen this guy or heard about him? There is a guy investigating this and i am hoping soon they will be able to prove that Obama has a complete different agenda in mind and does not care for any of us or our country.

Wow, what a quip. Romney should win the Presidency on his witticism alone. Johnny Carson would be proud. To quote Rickles, Romney is a hockey puck.

I just find it amazing that both sides critize and insult each other for doing the same thing. This is just ridiculous and why we cannot get anything done. Just like a bunch of spoiled brats.

Just so you know, my 'life-situation' has improved in the last four years. I've gone from contracted positions with no included benefts, to a full time career position (w/ 401k, insurance, ect) paying over twice what I've made previously.

So, yeah. I *am* better off than I was four years ago. Thanks for asking.

Lowering the corporate tax rate isn't going to result in any measurable revenue increase. How would you accurate gauge that? It's impossible. More likely, it will give big companies tax breaks that will end up in the pockets of CEOs.

avd: I'm not sure how the President's college transcripts in any way relate to Romney's Tax returns. Honestly, you can see and talk to Obama and judge for yourself if he is smart, knowledgable or ignorant, stupid. But we have no idea about Romney's honesty (in fact he's already lied once about his tax returns when he ran for Gov.) and what he has done with his money and how he will cut his own taxes. And come on, the GOP has not voted for anything that Pres. Obama has proposed. He even couldn't get them to vote for a GOP health care act that was created by the current GOP Presidential candidate. And frankly, he has made plenty of offers that the GOP refuse to budge on.

Romney, you haven't had a job in over 10 years, what is your plan?? You are about as outdated as a 10 year old phone. Why so secret? What are you hiding? What do you not want Americans to know? Off limits, Romneys religion, Romney's governorship, Romney's money, Romney's record at Bain Capital. Romney's Israli campaign contributor. Did you really agree to drop the Justice Dept. case against your contributor "Sheldon Adelson"? Did you agree to release Israli spy Jonathon Pollard? What did you really promise to Israel in the form of tax dollars and American troops to Israel in exchange for that $10 million campaign contribution? That kind of money has to be paid back.
    WHO ARE YOU, MITT ROMNEY?????

Bottom line for me. I can not vote for Mitt until I see the tax returns.
he has off shore accounts and then tells us to trust him, there is nothing in his tax returns to worry about. he talks about the loopholes he'll close but never identifies them, a non-partisan think tank says his plan will cost middle class $2000 a year in extra taxs while reducing taxs on the upper tier. I see nothing but empty promises. I won't waste my time trying to promote Obama but don't waste my time promoting Romney to me. Until he shows me otherwise he is still the rich guy who pays 18% while I pay 30%

Obamaloney: How creative? He takes the suffix from his own last name (Robmey).

This guy ran away from military duty to go do Mormon in France. 5 sons, none has served. Taxes: don't ask him to pay them. Where is the patriotism Mr gov? Placing money in Swiss Banks has been a practice by Third World dictators. Now a man halfway to the White House is no better! Show your tax returns sir so that we are sure you did not rob America and you may save whatever left of your character.
