Romney: President's jab is a bunch of 'Obamaloney'

(CNN) - The political puns won't stop.

After being labeled "Romney Hood" - Robin Hood in reverse - by the president Monday, presumptive GOP nominee Mitt Romney fired back with his own wordplay Tuesday, calling President Barack Obama's jab a bunch of "Obamaloney."

"He is serving up a dish that is in contradiction to the truth," Romney said in an interview with Fox News.

Romney's lunch meat rebuttal came the day after Obama, speaking at a campaign rally in Connecticut, railed against Romney's tax proposals, saying they amount to "Robin Hood in reverse."

"It's Romney Hood," the president added to loud applause from 500 supporters in a Stamford, Connecticut ballroom.

The comments were in reference to a recent report from the non-partisan Tax Policy Institute that claims Romney's tax proposals are likely to result in a net tax increase of $2,000 for middle-class wage earners while cutting hundreds of thousands of dollars from the tax bills of the country's most wealthy.

"He'd ask the middle class to pay more in taxes so he could give another $250,000 to those making more than $3 million a year," Obama also said at the event. The Romney campaign has disputed the study, arguing that the analysis was flawed because it did not account for additional revenue that would result from a reduction in the corporate tax rate - another part of the candidate's plan.

Romney spokesman Ryan Williams responded to the president's remarks in a statement Monday night, calling the attacks false.

"President Obama recently said the biggest regret of his first term was not telling better stories. He's trying to make up for it now, but his stories just aren't true," Williams wrote. "There's only one candidate in this race who's going to raise taxes on the American people – and that's Barack Obama. While he's used taxpayer dollars to grow government and reward his donors, middle-class Americans have seen fewer jobs, lower incomes, and less hope for the future. Mitt Romney has a plan for a stronger middle class – and, unlike President Obama, a record of accomplishment behind it."

CNN's Alex Mooney and Kevin Liptak contributed to this report.

I get the biggest laugh out of the rebaggers that post about Obama and his jobs record, maybe they should read or listen to something other than fox and whatever conservative blowhard that is on the air. They may find out that the party than ran on jobs in 2010 has done nothing other than trying to repeal AHC and tell women what they can do with their bodies. These idiotic post from so called conservatives makes a sad statement on the reading comprehension levels in this country, do some independent research and get the facts and not someones opinion.

Until Romney releases his tax returns whatever he is saying about Obama or Reid is just a slander.

Mr.Romney, we as american tax payers have tax taken out of our hard earned monthly income. To be president you need honesty and integrity. You sir will not show your tax records for your offshore business dealings. You do not have what it takes to be the President of the United States of America. No honesty or integrity.

"Mitt Romney has a plan for a stronger middle class." He's been saying this for months...So what exactly is your plan Mitt? We're all dying to hear your wonderful ideas for moving this country forward; but of course, you never get into specifics because you don't have any.

Is this guy for real? We know that "Romney Hood" plays off "Robin Hood" and the reverse thereof.

What the hell is Obamaloney supposed to mean? Is he against the lunch meat lobby? Or maybe he's more well endowed than Willard?

Can you imagine this guy Romney as the POTUS. And I thought GWBush was bad.

That is the best Romney can do? " oh yeah , well you're double cant think of anything first so I have to just use what The President just said about me and turn it right back at you " So Far- the President is methodically beating you in this political chess match- except for when it comes to the fundraising- Obama just has to start pandering more

Obamalonely? Really? The last time I checked, Obama wasn't lonely. No, he was Obamamajority. That's why he's in the White House. Obama/Biden/Roberts 2012!

  20. Really?

@Thomas – Things DO go better with Koch. Yeah, let's do shake the etch a sketch and get this country back to prosperity with Romney. No one really gives a hoot about his tax returns; it's all a feeble attempt to distract people from Obama's dismal record...and Carter is going to put HIS two cents in? What a joke!

Obama has a record to stand on as president and proven leader. What does Romney stand for? He shifts his positions as the shifting sands. Is this what we want the presidency built on? Or do we want a foundation rooted in experience and proven leadership.

So when it comes to this independant agency that reviewed his tax plan, Romney both praises and thinks they are baloney! He is for and against Gun control, both pro choice and multiple choice, created the health care plan he now objects to. etc....... Multiple Choice Mitt !

Well, isn't this an interesting development, debating differences of opinion through name calling, what's next poopy head and butt face? Resorting to the level of 8 year olds, is not inspiring any degree of confidence in either of these candidates. If it were not for the seriousness of our current crises, it would be laughable.
