Obama camp reveals picks for Romney VP

(CNN) – They're not on most people's short lists, but Rep. Michele Bachmann and former Speaker Newt Gingrich would make excellent choices for Mitt Romney's running mate, a spokeswoman for President Barack Obama joked Wednesday.

"We all think Newt Gingrich or Michele Bachmann would be an excellent choice for Mitt Romney to choose," Obama campaign spokeswoman Jen Psaki said aboard Air Force One as the president traveled to a campaign stop in Colorado.

Psaki continued, "No, obviously, the campaign is - we are closely watching. We don't know any more than you do about the day and who it will be."

No matter which name Romney chooses, Psaki said, the Democrats would be prepared "to tell you why that person may be a bad choice for middle-class families."

White House Press Secretary Jay Carney, also speaking Wednesday on the president's plane, said Obama hadn't revealed a preference on who should join his challenger on the GOP ticket.

"I can just say, in conversations I've been a part of, I've never heard him express an opinion about who that might be," Carney said.

In July, Bachmann did not deny whether she was being vetted for the job of Mitt Romney's running mate, saying "Whoever it is that he chooses to bring in as his V.P., it will be a highly competent person."

Pressed further by CNN's Piers Morgan if she was being considered for the gig, Bachmann, whose name has not been frequently mentioned as a potential contender, left it up to the presumptive GOP nominee and his team to make a comment.

"Well, that's something for the campaign to answer on," she said. "That's not for me to make that decision, and that announcement."

Gingrich, however, has been more forthcoming.

"You have known me a long time," Gingrich told CBS's Bob Schieffer in May. "Would you pick me to be a vice presidential nominee? It would be inconceivable."

CNN's Kevin Liptak contributed to this report.

Romney's 'advantage' was being born in the end zone and thinking he scored a touchdown.

@Mark "And this is a story because what?"
It is a story because demonstrates how politicians (Obama in this case) uses "jokes" and "side comments to create news and rumors. They know that the average stupid voter will take this story as fact, not "joke" and they have created a reality in which the stupid people think it is really happening.

Politicians Dems & Repubs USE people.

Four and four MORE. President Obama has gotten into rMoney's head and he continues to spin out of control. rMoney will now say whatever stupid thing that pops into his empty head. I really don't understand how Americas continue to fall for his crap-o-la. Oh, now I know, they dislike President Obama so much that they'd go down to John just to prevent his reelection.

To all the GOPers posting – The statement from Psaki was sarcasm. Everyone knows that horse-Mitt is going to lose, so it doesn't matter who he chooses.

It seems alot of people are doing one of two things I can't understand. Either one: they are repeating things they hear without any individual thought. Or two: they are saying something often enough to hope it becomes accepted as fact.

examples: "Obama is the worst president ever". First of all, thats an opinion; and a pretty crazy one at that considering we just recently endured eight years of G.W.. There is no proving this because its not based in fact, its an opinion (and, worse yet, its Bill O'rielly's opinion and he has mass minded it via faux news.)

second: "no matter who he picks it'll be better than Biden." C'mon... you mean to tell me a career senator called upon to act as 2nd in command is the worst possible choice? Insanity, Biden has done an admirable, diligent and commendable job as a V.P. Whether you agree with the agenda or not, Biden has been an adequate v.p. at the least, can't take that away from him.

and third: "why do liberals hate women so much?" uhmmmm... well, they don't..... the fact that this is even a thought someone put to words is simply because they have been overexposed to propaganda attampting to dissuade people from making the observation that today's GOP seems to gender biased, antiquated, and concerned about money more than people. So, in the most basic form of diversion, you accuse your opponents of the same thing (first seen on the playground with such brilliant stratagems as "I know you are but what am I?" and "I'm rubber and your glue, what you say bounces off me and sticks to you").

Impressive folks, please think for yourself. The people thinking for you are doing a very poor job.

Ah, the thinking of the Obama campaign. No matter how terrible the economy becomes or how ineffective Obama's policies work out, they'll just refuse to acknowledge the problems and say that Obama is doing great.

mitt romney is nothing more than an evil faced liar regarding most everything he SAYS... I STILL WANT TO SEE HIS INCOME TAX RETURNS JUST LIKE EVERYONE ELSE WHO RAN FOR PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES. HE'S A CUNNING SCAM ARTIST. AND IF YOU REPUBLICANS CAN'T SEE THROUGH THIS YOU ARE BUNCH OF STUPID DOPES. HE AND HIS CRONIES ARE TRYING TO BUY THIS ELECTION AND ARE LETTING HIM GET AWAY WITH THESE HORRIBLE ADS THEY PUT OUT. HE HAS NO MORALS. IN MY BOOK, HE IS A MISFIT ALL AROUND.

Lets see Obama's college transcripts just like everybody else's. Lets see Obama's Master's thesis just like everybody elses's. Lets see the inside details of the Rezko relationship. Lets get to the bottom of 20 years with Wright and not being influenced. Lets find out why non -union Delphi employ pensions were cut 4% and Union pensions were made whole with federal money during the GM bailout and Geithner's Treasury signed off on the deal and then committed perjury to Congress saying they did not. A clear violation of federal law. Lets see some transparency in this opaque Obama presidency.

Wow – pot, meet kettle. For the party that foisted Joe Bumblin Biden on the country, this is rich. Ole Middle Class Joe – who makes more renting out a shack to the Secret Service than most people earn in a year. Ole Joe – "Stand Up, Chuck!".

One or two more gaffes by Romney, and these would be the only people that might accept a spot on his ticket. For anyone that hopes to have a future in politics, getting on this ticket would be the worst move they could make......only the deadenders who have nothing to lose would be interested.
