Pawlenty in Michigan for Romney: 'We'll know soon enough' about V.P.

(CNN) – Former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty, who's rumored to be among the top contenders for Mitt Romney's running mate, campaigned for the presumptive GOP nominee in Michigan Wednesday and beat back V.P questions.

At a Romney campaign office opening in Jackson, a woman in the crowd asked Pawlenty: "Are you going to come back to Michigan when you're vice president?"

Senate battles head on to the general in Missouri and Michigan

(CNN) - Democratic Sen. Claire McCaskill of Missouri now has the Republican challenger she'd hoped for, but the first term senator still faces a serious fight to keep her seat in November.

It appears to be a different story in Michigan, where Democratic Sen. Debbie Stabenow's re-election prospects after Tuesday's primary continue to look strong against GOP attempts to defeat her in the general election.

Gingrich: Obama is the 'anti-Clinton'

(CNN) - Newt Gingrich had some biting words for President Barack Obama on Wednesday, bolstering charges made by Mitt Romney's campaign that the president is dismantling welfare reform.

The former House speaker, who worked with former President Bill Clinton to champion the welfare-to-work law in 1996, charged the Obama administration with using "radical" methods to alter the program as part of a liberal agenda.

Controversial pro-Obama ad hasn't actually run yet

Washington (CNN) – It's grabbing a lot of media attention, but a new controversial television commercial from an independent group supporting President Barack Obama's re-election has not yet run as a paid advertisement on TV.

The ad, announced yesterday by the pro-Obama super PAC Priorities USA Action, appears to blame Republican challenger Mitt Romney for the cancer death of the wife of a man who was laid off from a steel mill after the company he worked for, GST Steel, was shut down by Bain Capital, the private equity firm co-founded by Romney.

Welfare debate gets back to work

(CNN) - The debate over Mitt Romney's latest welfare claims against President Barack Obama continued Wednesday, with both campaigns releasing dueling web videos and spokespersons from each team holding their ground in the snowballing battle.

An independent fact-checking organization, PolitiFact, rated a new Romney ad as "Pants on Fire" Tuesday, following calls from the Obama campaign labeling the spot as "dubious" and "completely false."
