Romney still faces conservative doubts as convention approaches

Washington (CNN) - Like a lion trained on its prey, conservatives are tracking certain Republican nominee Mitt Romney for any gaffe, policy shift or other signal that shows he is really the moderate they fear instead of the right-wing ideologue they want.

The continuing distrust of Romney by some on the political right will be one of the most interesting dynamics at the upcoming Republican National Convention that will formally anoint the former Massachusetts governor as President Barack Obama's challenger in November.

Another viral video: 'Romney Girl' goes for a 'fantastic' ride

(CNN) – Parodying the '90s top 40 hit "Barbie Girl," a new music video titled "Romney Girl" has hit the internet mocking Mitt Romney's offshore accounts and undisclosed tax returns with the familiar Democratic refrain that the Republican candidate's wealth makes him out of touch with the average American.

On Tuesday, a video parody of Gotye's recent hit "Somebody that I used to know" generated buzz with a video harping on Obama for not fulfilling the promise of his 2008 campaign.

Ryan, a seven-term House member from Wisconsin, has won praise from many on the right for his budget plan which calls for major reform of Medicare, and emphasizes the need to cut the federal deficit and proposes major tax reform.

Romney ad hits Obama for 'war on religion'

(CNN) - After weeks of attacking President Barack Obama's economic record, Mitt Romney took a sharply different tack Thursday in his latest television ad, going after the president for policies the Republican challenger amounts to a "war on religion."

In the spot, which also features footage from Romney's trip in July to Poland, an announcer says Obama's heath care law forces religious institutions to "go against their faith."

Bobby Jindal, and Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan – five men considered likely names on Romney's list of potential running mates.
