(CNN) - Asked Thursday what Mitt Romney wants his running mate to say about the presumptive GOP nominee, the candidate said he's looking for someone with "strength of character."
"I don't think I have anything for you on the VP running mate," Romney said in an interview on NBC News. "I certainly expect to have a person that has a strength of character, a vision for the country that adds something to the political discourse about the direction of the country."

He continued: "I happen to believe this is a defining election for America, that we're going to be voting for what kind of America we're going to have."
With less than three weeks left before the Republican National Convention, speculation over Romney's potential vice presidential nominee has picked up momentum among the political establishment.
But Romney and his campaign have remained tight-lipped, with only the candidate, his wife, Ann, and his adviser, Beth Myers, knowing the full details of the decision process.

LOL that the democrats would be talking about a VP candidate when they have "Mr Mic Slip" Biden. Obama's cabinet looks like a re-run of the little rascals and obama and biden are holding auditions for the third stooge.
►Romney wants running mate with 'vision for the country'◄
But they have to be BENEATH HIM so that the Romneys can stand out
They would also need to be able to attend his prestigious clubs and parties
So someone like Chris Christie is a NO NO – his manners are just a little bit too stout!!!
Obama 2012 – The Only Trusted Way Forward!!!
"Obama won because he was a 'Young Black Male Democrate! Condoleeza is a 'Young Black GOP Female'
What more can I say??"
I hope he picks Ryan. Stick a couple of bolts in Mitt's neck and they could run as the Munster ticket. Mitt with his Herman Munster laugh and Ryan with his Eddie Munster hair.
"A vision for the country"? Looks like he's going to have to look outside of the GOP for that.
In other word, "when I'm told who my running mate will be, I will let you know". Karl & and the Koch heads are very busy.
"You may think Romney is walking a tight-rope, but it's much better than hanging by one, like Obama."
Please oh please select Michelle or Sarah. The counrty needs a good laugh.
Funny...the blind leading the blind. Maybe Romney's VP pick will have paid taxes for the last 10 years.
Romney Hood wants a VP candidate with a 'vision for the country'. If he gets one, that would mean there would be one person on the Republican ticket with such a vision. Can anyone out there tell me what Romney Hood would do as president? anyone? Let's see, so far he has promised to repeal the Affordable Care Act (which of course he cannot do – only Congress can) and maintain egregious tax cuts for the wealthy. I think that is about it.
He wants a running mate with a vision for country becasue he doesn't have a vision for teh country
A vision, is just that...a vision. I have vision's of many things. Visions don't equate to reality. In order for your vision to come to fruition you need a plan.....something Romney still hasn't told us.
Romney wants a running mate with everything he lacks, vision and charactor. Rumsfield, Cheney, Rove or perhaps that Bolton. Wait a minute, we tried that, fool me once!
"I certainly expect to have a person that has a strength of character, a vision for the country that adds something to the political discourse about the direction of the country." ?????
Oh, dear – again he does not know what he is talking about. And if he is looking for “good” things (if he knows what that is..) in the GOP/TP, he is going to be very disappointed!
