(CNN) - Presumptive Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney will announce his vice presidential candidate Saturday at an event in Virginia, his campaign said.
Romney called several of the Republicans on his vice presidential shortlist on Friday evening to tell them he has selected a running mate and to thank them for assisting with his campaign, a Republican familiar with the calls told CNN.
Romney did not indicate who he selected as his running mate, according to the source.

Romney is moving up the date of announcement because of desperation. Not one name on the list will be a game changer. It will please the conservative base but do little to attract moderates and independents.

nobody will be watching – brilliant – and this is the guy you want making decisions as President?

If he dare pick Rand Paul, in an attempt to hijack the Ron Paul youth vote, I can promise him, it will not work. Ron Paul supporters don't waiver in their belief and moral systems, unlike Obama and Romney supporters, because in the end, Romney and Obama are the same candidate, who stand for nothing, who will continue the same policies, especially the misguided U.S. foreign -war -all -the- time policy. Both Obama and Romney will continue the invasive U.S. security laws, both will continue Obamacare and things will only worsen under either of them.
Who cares? Maybe he will pick Palin or Huckabee?
