(CNN) – A year ago in Des Moines, Iowa, Texas governor Rick Perry worked the Midwest crowd, glad-handing his way to voter approval for his own 2012 presidential bid. Saturday, Perry will do the same but for his former opponent Mitt Romney.
Texans for Rick Perry announced Friday that the former Republican contender would campaign for the current presumptive GOP nominee at the annual Iowa State Fair.

Perry will also speak at the FAMiLY Leadership Summit on Saturday afternoon hosted by two Iowa caucus winners in 2008 and 2012: former Governor Mike Huckabee and former Sen. Rick Santorum, according to the organization's website.
Last August, Perry visited the fair with much fanfare as a part of his "Get America Working Again" bus tour as a Republican primary presidential candidate. Perry faced mediocre numbers in the polls before the state's early January first-in-the-nation caucus, bringing in only 10% of Iowa votes on the Republican primary election night.
Perry dropped out of the presidential race in January, endorsing then-candidate and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich. Perry then threw his support behind Romney in April following reports that his chosen candidate would soon end his presidential run as well.

Way to go Perry. Glad to have you aboard now start rowing! Ignore all that fog, it is just the usual Obama smoke blowing by.
25% of Texans do not have health insurance or access to affordable health care. Maybe Mittens could show him how Romneycare would help his state.
Romney must be making some big promises to get all these men that said he wasn't qualifiesd to back him now.
Oh wait! they're politicians – they lie and have no morals, so what the hell.
Cant wait for the group photo – Santorum- Perry – Gingrich -Trump and Bachmann all knealing in from of St Romney.
There are only THREE people Mr. Romney should seek endorsements from for the Presidency: Former Vice President Dick Cheney; Former Presidential candidates Newt Gingrich, and..... and.... well, there are three guys..... no, not him. It's.....Ummmm.
RIck Perry said he balanced the state budget while keeping taxes low, without dipping into emergency money. However, he did it by taking big money from Washington. Back in June of 2009, when Governor Perry was signing the state's 2010-2011 budget, Texas was $6.6 billion in the red.
Here answer the letter he wrote to President Obama, quote, "Please allow this letter to certify we will accept the funds in H.R.1, the stimulus, and use them to promote economic growth and create jobs in a fiscally responsible manner that is in the interest of the Texas taxpayers."And in that letter, the governor did say he opposed the stimulus, but he took the money. Yet, months later and right up to this day, he continues to speak out against federal money and the state officials who take it. RICK PERRY
Rednecks for Obama"
Romney is running with a lot of losers like Cheney, Gingrich, Santorum, McCain, Bachmann, Palin, and even old GWB. If it wasn't bad enough he's also keeping company with the Republican house Ryan, Boenher, McConnell. His donors are even notorious Koch brothers, blood money El Savadorians, and Sheldon the Pipinaire. None of the people have any feelings for the middle-class works and the contempt of hatred of the poor is ghastly.
Mittens has lost his base, and needs to bring back the primary opponents he spent millions trashing to save his elitist butt.
Rick Perry is as dumb as they come!!! And I live in Texas....wow he must be related to Sarah Palin!
I hope we are not paying for Perry's little jaunts to Utah, Iowa, and wherever. He is already drawing two salaries,
and he cost us a bundle for his "protection" while vacationing, I mean, running for President.
...Does that picture look awkward, or what?
Texas is a mess and offers the worst health care in the U.S. As a Texan I'm deeply ashamed of what the Republicans have done to our state. Governor "Oops" is now sucking his way back into the Republican fold after saying he thought Romney should release his tax returns.
All I can say is hypocrisy at its best!!!!!!!!!!!
Perry is a career Government employee aka welfare queen whose never held a private citizen job in his life and yet he thinks Government is too big. Perry has a big smile on his face because the Texas Governors Mansion just completed restoration at the cost of $21.5 million, the heck with healthcare for Texans who have the highest number of citizens without healthcare.
Old buddies huh. Looks like they buried the hatchet (in Perry's head). Two half-wits do not make a Twit.
Must be getting really desperate now, bringing back the bottom feeders..
STAY THERE PERRY!
Perry is a worthless governor. Stay in Iowa Rick. Oh wait, we the taxpayers will have to foot the bill.
This just shows that Romney is still worried about the base. He is losing the independent, Hispanic, African American and women vote. His only sure block are white males.
Keep pandering to the base Mitt.
Hopefully, he will not forget the name of the candidate he is campaining for, or his Bain activities.
Pompadour Perry seems to have lost his wedding band and in it's place, I see his college graduation ring?
Could this be a "Brokeback Mountain" moment?
Just precious, they make such a cute couple!
Dumb campaigning for Dumber! What a combination. Pathetic!
Class, was Perry using makeup to camo that bulbous honker?
That thing takes up his whole face and what is that knob on the end?
Maybe he is just excited that he can actually "smell the money"!
I can't help but wonder if he is there to work off part of that $10,000 bet.......
Easy Perry, Mittens owns a "gay prancing pony" and it could be contagious!
so our 'guvner" here in Texas is now a lover of the "vulture capitalist"? I have to admit when I saw this picture I threw up in my mouth a little.
