Palin makes brief mention of Ryan, Romney in V.P. statement

(CNN) - Sarah Palin, the 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee, had little to say to her 2012 counterpart in a statement released nearly twelve hours after Mitt Romney made his running mate announcement.

"Congratulations to Mitt Romney on his choice of Congressman Paul Ryan as his running mate," Palin wrote in a statement, which mentioned Romney's name only four times and Ryan's name only three out of over 1,100 words. The statement was posted on her Facebook page.

By the second sentence - and for the next 13 paragraphs - she focused her attention on President Barack Obama.

"Barack Obama's record is one of dismal failure, which is why he isn't talking about it," she wrote in the statement, which was posted Saturday evening. "He would rather spend his time demonizing his opponents."

To the current candidate's credit, she continued, "The simple fact remains that Mitt Romney is not responsible for the dire state of our economy or the corruption and incompetence of the current administration."

In a negative way, she said "Obama's vision for America will make the rest of the country look like California, minus the beautiful scenery and warm weather," citing the state's spending on a stalled train project, environmental policies, unemployment, taxes, and "endless budget shortfalls."

Palin has endorsed candidates in races for the U.S. Senate, but has not formerly endorsed Romney. She said she voted for former GOP presidential candidate Newt Gingrich in the Alaska primary, and encouraged voters in early primary states to support him.

"Please continue to focus on the presidential race and on helping Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan, but it's also imperative that we get involved in the nation's important House and Senate races," she wrote. "These candidates need our help to ensure that our next president has a responsible and ethical Congress that actually gets things done for America. Now on to November!"

Palin recently made headlines after former Vice President Dick Cheney said in an interview that McCain's selection of Palin was a "mistake" for 2008 GOP presidential nominee John McCain - a notion on which she strenuously pushed back.

– CNN's Gregory Wallace and Peter Hamby contributed to this report.

ALL you have is petty insults of the most baseless school yard type.

The reality is that 'you' are simply filled with corrosive animosity as a form of projecting your own failings.

Sarah Palin was (Governor of a State) – while Obama was just a Senator (us)
Sarah Palin was( Mayor of a City) – while Obama was just a Senator (state)
Sarah Palin was (Twice City Council) – while Obama was was in school
Sarah Palin was (Running a Business) – while Obama Community Disorganized

Get over the stale Katie and Gibson interviews as the only reason to hang your biased, bigoted, or hateful hat on. Do you speak Austrian, know of 57 States, or consider Joe Biden 'worthy' of #2?

Conservative Governor Sarah Palin is the King Maker in American Politics today with nearly 75% of her endorsements BEATING the Establishment hacks in both parties ...she is transforming our political system right before your eyes.

Obama was "elected" president of the United States – While Palin dumb downs the GOP as evidenced by you.

I think I'm actually pleased with CNN's bias on the headline here ("Palin's lukewarm on Ryan", or something like that) because a lot of people will be glad they love Ryan and disagree with Palin because they think she's a raving lunatic. The reason it's a biased headline is based on the fact Palin's focus being on Obama's abysmal record doesn't equate to her disapproval of Ryan. You could say she's lukewarm for Romney on the same premise for only mentioning his name once more than she mentions' Ryan's.

The headline should read "Palin rips Obama for failed presidency".

  15. GOP puts "$" in "chri$tian" since 60% of the GOP believes they should not care for those less fortunate!

Ayn Rand of whom Paul Ryan is a disciple, wrote a tome on how "Selfishness is a virtue"!

Not too worry Seniors, elect him and see!

Predictable response. I think she was hoping that the GOP establishment would think she was still relevant, and pick her for VP.

She then supported her claims with references from several newspapers such as – – Oh wait, she can't name a newspaper.
Face it – really – this person was claiming she was qualified to be President of the United States of America and she couldn't give the name of one single solitary newspaper. She was unfamiliar with how a bill becomes a law. She was confused about the role of the Vice President, the job she had been chosen for. She's got some social skills, I'll give her that; but if she had been Vice President and then become President, it would have been a total disaster and you know it. They would have ended up having to impeach her for incompetence.

Romney couldn't find someone just a bit more mainstream that staffer from Capitol Hill?

    Let's see ....

He voted for two wars without making the "hard choices" of how to pay for them.
He voted for the seniors prescription drug benefit in Medicare ... without making the "hard choices" on how to pay for it.
He voted for every tax cut for the rich .. without making the "hard choices" on how to pay for it.

Romney Ryan: Two rich white fratboys only the rich could love.

@Jersey George: Here's what the Quitta has done.

    – She hired a lobbyist while mayor.
    – Left Wasilla in debt
    – Quit the Oil/Gas Board of Alaska
    – Qquit the governorship after 30 months
    – Used the Governor's office to settle personal scores instead of creating meaningful policies.

Can anyone point to a single accomplishment in her years of public experience besides getting the oil companies to double the subsidy check?
Are the schools in Alaska better?
Is the state less dependent on the Federal Government than before?
Is there anything that could be remotely described as a " Palin Doctrine" on anything other than self-promotion?

She does a disservice to conservative women by never finishing any job she has started, and by her reveling both in the limelight and a limited ability to display what she knows, an ironic situation for a one-time Communications major.

    Pain = Quitter, Liar, Mooch
