Palin makes brief mention of Ryan, Romney in V.P. statement

(CNN) - Sarah Palin, the 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee, had little to say to her 2012 counterpart in a statement released nearly twelve hours after Mitt Romney made his running mate announcement.

"Congratulations to Mitt Romney on his choice of Congressman Paul Ryan as his running mate," Palin wrote in a statement, which mentioned Romney's name only four times and Ryan's name only three out of over 1,100 words. The statement was posted on her Facebook page.

By the second sentence - and for the next 13 paragraphs - she focused her attention on President Barack Obama.

"Barack Obama's record is one of dismal failure, which is why he isn't talking about it," she wrote in the statement, which was posted Saturday evening. "He would rather spend his time demonizing his opponents."

To the current candidate's credit, she continued, "The simple fact remains that Mitt Romney is not responsible for the dire state of our economy or the corruption and incompetence of the current administration."

In a negative way, she said "Obama's vision for America will make the rest of the country look like California, minus the beautiful scenery and warm weather," citing the state's spending on a stalled train project, environmental policies, unemployment, taxes, and "endless budget shortfalls."

Palin has endorsed candidates in races for the U.S. Senate, but has not formerly endorsed Romney. She said she voted for former GOP presidential candidate Newt Gingrich in the Alaska primary, and encouraged voters in early primary states to support him.

"Please continue to focus on the presidential race and on helping Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan, but it's also imperative that we get involved in the nation's important House and Senate races," she wrote. "These candidates need our help to ensure that our next president has a responsible and ethical Congress that actually gets things done for America. Now on to November!"

Palin recently made headlines after former Vice President Dick Cheney said in an interview that McCain's selection of Palin was a "mistake" for 2008 GOP presidential nominee John McCain - a notion on which she strenuously pushed back.

– CNN's Gregory Wallace and Peter Hamby contributed to this report.

Jealousy is a green-eyed monster named Sarah Palin. She ruined McCain's chances with her vacuous person, blatant egoism, and ignorance and now she's pouting she won't be picked again and didn't even get picked ot headline the convention. I cannot wait for the media to forget her. Cannot come sooner.

    @Honey Badger
Just ignore her and maybe she'll go away....
    ----------------------
Wishful thinking. Remember the movie "Fatal Attraction" where the crazy broad says, "I won't be ignored, Dan." That's Palin. She will say and do anything to be noticed because she refuses to accept that she's not important.

Okay, bottom line. Palin is irrelevant. Stop wasting our time printing anything this woman says. It's just embarrassing to you as a news organization. Talk about real things.

The socialest progressive democrats are flapping their lips attempting to assinate ones character, it would appear yopu have a ring in your nlose and when your chain is jerked you bark very well. Governor Paliin can do much much more good as a freelalnce political operative than being weighted down by the republican party.

She is so cute and sassy, I just adore her! What about a Ryan/Palin ticket? They would be so cute...Romney is weird and doesn't seem to understand regular folk.

What's happening to Romney is the American People are seeing what this man is all about. He is known for being a coward, ran to France under the guise of his church. In many circles he is a good business man, in others he is a man who broke other men down by closing their companies, these men lost their insurance, lost their pensions and lost their income, to top it off the govt. had to step in with millions to save their retirement income they worked for so many years to save. and he keeps his money offshore and won't admit to what he's playing in taxes. Total CON ARTIST!!!!

Anyone in their right mind can't vote Romney.

George Romney resisted releasing a single year of taxes, arguing that it wouldn't present an accurate picture...but then he made a surprising offer: He would release the past 12 years of tax returns...That way, it wouldn't look like a stunt

The only credibility for Sarah Palin is with those over 65 and Sean Hannity. She may have her place on Fox. .but the GOP stallwarts give her NO credibility.

Translation: All Barack Obama can do is demonize his opponents! Barack is THE ANTI-CHRIST! AHHH!

    Pot, meet kettle.

Sarah Palin is just a word salad talking seeking media attention. If one attempts to listen to her, it appears that she is incoherent while putting just stringing a lot of words together that make no sense. Sly like a fox getting paid by Fox for talking crazy.

Palin embraces a solid conservative ideology but is a political lightweight. She is self-serving and has shot herself in the foot on multiple ocassions. She is not a significant voice in the GOP. There is no comparing she and Ryan. And it laughable to attempt to compare Biden and Ryan. Ryan adds considerable substance to the Romney ticket.

In the back of her mind(which is pretty much the whole thing) she just knew that the Party, in desperation, would reach out to HER to come to the rescue again Her lukewaem response is probably because she is just sure that at the convention her masses of adoring followers will be demanding that she accept the nomination for President.(at least VP?)

I just looked up "responsible" and "ethical" in the dictionary (a book that Palin has probably never cracked). It turns out that those definitions don't say anything about being obstructionist, or hypocritical, or about running on a platform of limited government and fiscal responsibility but then turning your attention to a hate-filled agenda about denying people their freedom of choice or the freedom for two people to marry each other. I must be voting for a different Congress.
