Romney-Ryan would target federal workers

New York (CNNMoney) - Federal workers' jobs will be under fire if Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan win November's election.

Both Romney and Ryan have made it clear that they think federal workers are one reason the nation's deficit is too high, and have talked about shrinking payrolls and cutting benefits.

Obama has cut the amount of Federal employees dramatically from the Bush administration don't be fooled by this malarky they want to do away with all of the Federal agencies and that is not good for anyone but the wealthy. More BS from the party of half truths and lies.

Nobody is judging them. We just can't afford all of them. Nothing personal. It's just simple arithmetic. Unfortunately most liberals flunk it in school.

Why are democrats ignorant to the fact that Obama has increased taxes on the middle class?
    --------------------------–

Because they are just as ignorant that Congress was run by Democrats for 2 years of Obama's presidency and they did not approve a Cost-of-Living increase to Senior Citizens. And Senior Citizens still have not seen a Cost-of-Living increase.

So the Calli democratic towns that are going bankrupt because of firemen and police offices making over $100000 a year some sergeants making in excess of $300000 a year retiring at 50 with the same paycheck and generous benefits makes sense to the liberals and democrats.
Hiring over 5000 new IRS agents to look at your personal life, makes sense to liberals and democrats. Having SOME teachers that are supposed to teach English and Math, but have no clue themselves makes sense to liberals and democrats alike.

How arrogant! Who are they to judge federal workers? Most of Ryan's career has been in federal government and I'm sure he never questioned the amount of money he earned. Perhaps it is him who is over paid.
    -----------------------------–

Excellent point, Ryan has been working in federal government long enough to know that these employees are getting paid way to much for doing pretty much nothing. You are correct, Ryan would know, he has seen it first hand I'm sure.

    Arithmetic:

Fixed expenses + huge reduction in revenue (Bush tac cuts) = major deficits and skyrocketing debt.

It's a revenue problem, junior, not a spending problem.

Instead of cutting wage earners positions how about we cut the defense budget to bare bones we need more weapons like we need a hole in the head. Continuing to build weapons makes the warmongers trigger fingers itchy. While we are at it how about paying Congress for actual days worked and make them have to pay for their insurance just like me. Better yet pay Congress for performance make them make their earnings and sources of income available to the public. Term limits anyone? Hey, Supreme Court get busy getting Citizens United over turned!!

"If you want to know what draconian spending cuts, especially reducing federal payrolls, will do to the economy, you only need to look at Europe over the past 4 years."

Indeed. They want precisely what Greece got, which is why they're trying to do precisely what Greece did. Shrinking the middle-class to nothing by impoverishing as many people as possible creates a create incentive for people to take crappy salaries with no benefits.

Sorry......but the biggest problem with the defect is the unfunded tax cuts, wars, and new GOP favored policies that Paul Ryan voted for....he only became a "budget hawk" AFTER his party lost the White House......

Sorry Paul....but your reputation....as well as your voting record....precedes you......

"Why did Obama take $700 Billion from Medicare essentially destroying it?"

Setting aside your mischaracterization of what the provisions actually do, why don't we ask this:

Why did Paul Ryan's Pathology of Plutocracy budget incorporate the EXACT SAME $700B in Medicare savings and cuts as are in "Obamacare"?

Why did the GOP/Teatrolls vote en masse to pass it?

Why are GOPers/Teatrolls convinced that nobody sees the rank hypocrisy they are spewing by criticizing the Medicare savings and cuts when they actually voted for the same thing?

dang overpaid public sector jobs! They have to be the first to go. Who cares that many of them like firefighters, police nurses and even teachers put their lives on the line everyday. Plus all the holidays they get..and we know that educators only work 9 months a year and get summer off every year. Have to put an END to this foolishness . And since we want to cut federal workers jobs, doesn't CONGRESS consider itself to be a federal job? Hmmmmm....talk about some cutting needed to be done

Ryan has been in the federal government longer than these Tea Party crazies. He was there when enacting tax increases not only stimulated strongest sustained job growth period in history, he also saw how it balanced the budget.

Then, Republicans have control of both chanbers of the Congress and the White House. Suddenly, we have deficits have tens of billions, and then hundreds of billions as a result of "temporary" tax cuts to "stimulate the economy." Suddenly, we have income deflation, millions of manufacturing jobs lost overseas, greater and greater annual deficits, with ominous predictions of trillion dollar deficits within a decade.

And, now here we are. All of the trillion dollar deficit warnings, which mostly came from conservatives, have come true. And, now here we are again. The Republicans are looking for control of both chambers and the White House. Nope, no thank-you. There has been enough of that to last us for generations.

To "Thinkagain" As for laying off federal workers effect on the economy: Minimal since they never create any wealth but rather just take from producers in our economy. ALL government workers are a net drain on the economy. We CHOOSE to hire government workers to perform duties that are necessary for a functional government and infrastructure. THIS election is choosing how MUCH we are willing to spend on them. Threatening economic hardship to the economy by reducing the federal workforce thus reducing the drain on producers shows your lack of understanding of basic economics. Cheer up as Obama has the same lack of understanding since he spent a great deal of the stimulus propping up government jobs. Either that or he is just a socialist.

$70,000 for a fed worker as apposed to $50,000. Sounds to me like class warfare.

Their pay was negotiated in good faith. Why are you guys against that? Isn't that the way of the world? Or least how capitalism works? Instead of getting mad, why don't you go back to school? Oh that's right, that is considered snobbish by conservatives. And Paul cuts funding for student loans.

Conservatives say that $250,000 isn't a lot of money, but $70,000 is. Only broke and not too bright conservatives can fall for the banana in the tailpipe time after time.

As you said, Ryan ought to know all about getting paid way too much for doing pretty much nothing. He has himself been nothing more than a freeloader for the past 13 years with very little accomplishment for the "job" he's performed.
