Ryan heckled at Iowa State Fair

Des Moines, Iowa (CNN) – Rep. Paul Ryan was met by a small group of hecklers Monday when he tried to deliver a speech during his much-anticipated first solo stop since becoming Mitt Romney's running mate.

Speaking to a crowd from the soap box at the Iowa State Fair, Ryan had his remarks disrupted by activists, one relentlessly shouting "Stop the war on the middle class." Two women tried to climb on the platform next to the congressman, and both were carried off by police and other officials.

Ryan acknowledged the protesters before continuing on with his stump speech.

"It's funny because Iowans and Wisconsinites like to be respectful. These ladies must not be from Iowa and Wisconsin," Ryan said.

As one woman was being carted out, Ryan added: "Like I said, she might not be from Iowa."

Candidates have been heckled before at the state fair's soap box–where traditionally anyone with a view can speak but is a must-stop for many politicians. From the same spot just over a year ago, Romney also confronted hecklers as he campaigned for the GOP presidential nomination. It was there that he said a line that opponents now use to criticize the candidate as "out of touch."

"Corporations are people, my friend," Romney said, responding in a testy exchange. "Everything a corporation earns ultimately goes to people."

why do these repo make it sound like heckeling is from democrats only how short their memory is. maybe the ladies had a valid point but getting carried off by the repo thugs did not let them have their free speach. I guess it is only good when calling the president a lier or a muslim. Vote all repos out stick it to them in November. Over half the people in this country voted for this president what makes you think you can just insult the majority of people because you dont like him. Forward 2012

I honestly love it when people from the far right whine and complain about how Dem's are being uncivil then turn around and use names like "Obummer" when referring to the president. Seriously people; grow up and realize that your group uses the same tactics.

To those who think you have to hire someone to heckle Paul Ryan........if you were to take the time to read up on his plans for your future, you would be right in there with them and paying to join the hecklers!!!!! .......It puzzles me how many people really don't take the time to read nor listen to understand just what each political party stands for!! Are they out for themselves? or the people.....,which they should be. It takes work and time but it's worth knowing what you're voting for!!!

Normally, Ryan, the little sissy from WI would go to Fox foreign owned media, and call people whose lives were destroyed by the republican economy, demagogues.

Were they wearing tri-cornered hats and white powder wigs? Were they packing "heat"? Did they have signs calling for someone's death? None of those things? Then I guess they weren't GOP or Tea Party folks. Must have been either Dems or independents.......probably concerned about those evil programs like Medicare and Social Security.......how dare they speak up on those issues........not from Iowa or Wisconsin he says? I guess they must be "foreign"......

    REPUBLICAN ARE THE GREATEST

Liberals have fun with your loser of a President for the next 3 months, as he will be defeated in November and then we will get a real President in President Romney.

Yeah, that's pretty much the level of dialog I've come to expect from the tighty righties. Thanks for not disappointing!

Corporations are people? Do they ever go hungry, do they get sick & need medical treatment, do they get blown up in wars, do they struggle to put their kids through college ? Then why do they get all of this special treatment. Corporations are a LEGAL FICTION used by the 1% @ the expense of the 99%.
