Ryan heckled at Iowa State Fair

Des Moines, Iowa (CNN) – Rep. Paul Ryan was met by a small group of hecklers Monday when he tried to deliver a speech during his much-anticipated first solo stop since becoming Mitt Romney's running mate.

Speaking to a crowd from the soap box at the Iowa State Fair, Ryan had his remarks disrupted by activists, one relentlessly shouting "Stop the war on the middle class." Two women tried to climb on the platform next to the congressman, and both were carried off by police and other officials.

Ryan acknowledged the protesters before continuing on with his stump speech.

"It's funny because Iowans and Wisconsinites like to be respectful. These ladies must not be from Iowa and Wisconsin," Ryan said.

As one woman was being carted out, Ryan added: "Like I said, she might not be from Iowa."

Candidates have been heckled before at the state fair's soap box–where traditionally anyone with a view can speak but is a must-stop for many politicians. From the same spot just over a year ago, Romney also confronted hecklers as he campaigned for the GOP presidential nomination. It was there that he said a line that opponents now use to criticize the candidate as "out of touch."

"Corporations are people, my friend," Romney said, responding in a testy exchange. "Everything a corporation earns ultimately goes to people."

Romney/Ryan = Bush/Cheney Puppets for the neo-cons who want to bury this country in war and debt. Stand up for the soldiers. No more wars to serve the selfish interests of the neo-con elites.

Nooooo, Democrats constantly have said that they are completely against heckling. How much did Democrats pay these ladies, actually at least they made some money so getting paid to heckle is good for the economy.

What evidence do you have that they were Democrats?
    --------–

If they had been Republicans or Independents hackling Ryan it would have been all over the news by now.

Dude, conjecture does not equate fact. You fail. Cite your evidence, otherwise it's just your opinion you're spewing. Moron.

Bring it dems...Romney/Ryan will win in November...both are good for the country...the dems have nearly destroyed the American way of life with their lack of fiscal responsibility and I don't see that changing if Obama is reelected. I can't hardly wait till the debates begin...let Ryan put 'em in their place...he cannot be snowed by Biden/Obama liberal rhetoric...gonna be fun to watch!

Romney/Ryan = Bush/Cheney More neo-cons in power = more war and more debt for the American people. Stand up for our suffering soldiers and stop the warmongering politicians. Bring our boys home and no more wars for the selfish interests of the neo-con elite.

Wow, she might not be from Iowa? THAT is how you handle a heckler? Because everyone in Iowa automatically thinks like you do, Ryan?

The fact that gay marriage is legal in Iowa shows that some people in Iowa wholeheartedly DISAGREE with you, Ryan.

"It's funny because Iowans and Wisconsinites like to be respectful. These ladies must not be from Iowa and Wisconsin," Ryan said. What Ryan means is I will tell you when to talk so shut up and sit down like the nice little second class citizens women are in the eyes of the Romney/Ryan team.

Paul Ryan is the man to get things done! He's authored two bills in thirteen years that have passed. Can any of the rest of you claim to have done more in thirteen years??? That's right, hang your head in shame on what you have done in comparison to the two things Ryan has done in thirteen years!

Paul Ryan is basically Obama Jr. He voted YES for Obama/Bush Bailouts, continued Obama war funding, Obama domestic surveillance policies, Obama extension of the Patriot Act.
At least we now know what Romney believes in his selection of a VP candidate with an extensive voting record.

Vote for fiscal sanity... Vote for Gary Johnson 2012!
