Ryan heckled at Iowa State Fair

Des Moines, Iowa (CNN) - Rep. Paul Ryan was met by a small group of hecklers Monday when he tried to deliver a speech during his much-anticipated first solo stop since becoming Mitt Romney's running mate.

Speaking to a crowd from the soap box at the Iowa State Fair, Ryan had his remarks disrupted by activists, one relentlessly shouting "Stop the war on the middle class." Two women tried to climb on the platform next to the congressman, and both were carried off by police and other officials.

Ryan acknowledged the protesters before continuing on with his stump speech.

"It's funny because Iowans and Wisconsinites like to be respectful. These ladies must not be from Iowa and Wisconsin," Ryan said.

As one woman was being carted out, Ryan added: "Like I said, she might not be from Iowa."

Candidates have been heckled before at the state fair's soap box–where traditionally anyone with a view can speak but is a must-stop for many politicians. From the same spot just over a year ago, Romney also confronted hecklers as he campaigned for the GOP presidential nomination. It was there that he said a line that opponents now use to criticize the candidate as "out of touch."

"Corporations are people, my friend," Romney said, responding in a testy exchange. "Everything a corporation earns ultimately goes to people."

I don't get the uproar over Ryan as VP. VPs have no power. Romney is using him to satisfy the right wing highrollers backing his campaign. IF he gets elected, Ryan is off to funerals and ground breaking ceremonies. Romney will never let Boy Wonder show him up. Stop with all this about Ryan and his policies. He is neutered as soon as the election is over, one way ot the other. He won't even have a congressional seat if /when they lose.

Democrats are so, so desperate. Ryan could have really stumped this idiot had he asked her to give an example of his war on the middle class. This broad ain't middle class anyways. She has no class.

@mogran...the only thing missing from your post of cliche's is "Unga Bunga...Obama Bad...Romney Good"

Not a single unique or original thought, it was like that comment was emailed to you by the Romney/Ryan campaign newlstter and you just cut and pasted it here.

THAT is what is destroying the "American way of life." Btw...what does that even mean?

Where was this very smart budget hawk during the Bush years...was he asleep or just being the reb hack he's always been. Hey Paul it would have been nice if you oould have stopped the unfunded Perscription Durg plan and how about answering why you didn't push to put the cost of the two wars on the books.

I can't hardly wait till the debates begin...let Ryan put 'em in their place...he cannot be snowed by Biden/Obama liberal rhetoric...gonna be fun to watch!"

More fanboy nonsense, as if all fiscal irresponsibility was at the hands of Democrats.

The S & P downgrade report said (quote) "an atmosphere of fiscal irresponsibility perpetrated by both parties over several years".

So cut the fanboy crap-o-la, OK?

The Bush tax cuts were enacted in 2004 to create jobs. 8 years later, where are the jobs? First it was the "trickle down effect," now it's "job creators." Either way billionaires run this party and zealots support it. Do the Koch brothers really have it that bad? How much is enough for these people? According to the bible greed is still a sin.

No doubt the two ladies were taken to jail and will pay a big price for speaking out. Free speech? Not here/now any longer.

It is sad and pathetic to read comments like thost posted by 'mogran', stating the Democrats nearly destroyed the US/with their lack of fiscal responsibility, etc. How difficult is it to count or add 2 plus 2? The destruction started prior to Pres. Obama even taking office, the 'trickle down' effect worked for th GOP, only it was to harm, not help. Do so many people really think that the current fiscal mess was Obama's fault when it was clearly underway during the Bush/Cheney admin? Even if they don't accept those FACTS/TRUTHS, how do they explain the multiple failures that would have needed time to actually fail could have happened OVERNIGHT? How would Pres. Obama's fiscal acts have caused a failure withing 24-hours of his taking office??? It took years for their bad loans to fail, years for their irresponsible acts to took the deregulation and removal of any oversight, courtesy of the GOP, for the failures...THINK!

Romney is correct. Corporate earnings are passed on to individual taxpayers unless it is a C-Corp, then there are two taxes assessed on the income it earned. One by the Corp and one by the shareholders.
This is not right wing ideology, its how the IRS taxes corporations.
