Romney-Ryan raises over $7 million in three days after VP announcement

(CNN) - Rep. Paul Ryan's newfound spot, now only three days old, on the GOP presidential ticket has aided Mitt Romney's quest for cash with $7.4 million raked in since the announcement 72 hours ago, according to a tweet from Romney campaign Press Secretary Andrea Saul.

The campaign did not however hit the fund-raising mark reached by the 2008 Republican presidential campaign in the first three days after former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin joined the ticket.

Saul said that $3.5 million was raised in the Romney-Ryan ticket's first 24 hours, with approximately 1.2 million coming on Saturday morning in the hours after Ryan was introduced as Romney's vice presidential choice.

Late Sunday, Saul posted "$5 million raised, 70,000+ donations" since the ticket premiered at a Virginia event with the bunting-draped battleship USS Wisconsin as their backdrop. The fundraising numbers are all online donations.

In 2008, Sen. John McCain's campaign raised $4 million online in the first 24 hours after he announced Palin would be his No. 2. Over the first three days, their fundraising reached $10 million.

Romney's joint fund-raising committee - which includes his campaign and the Republican National Committee - brought in $101.3 million in July, their second consecutive month raising over $100 million and the third consecutive month out-raising Obama, who in July raised $75 million.

Obama's campaign also used the Ryan announcement to bolster their coffers, sending a web video critical of the GOP ticket and asking their supporters to "chip in."

Ryan attended two fundraisers on Monday evening in Colorado, his first fundraisers as a member of the GOP ticket. A Romney-Ryan campaign aide said that 170 people attended one fundraiser, where tickets ranged in price from $2,500 to $25,000, and 75 people were expected to attend a second fund-raiser.

Easy to visualize the high-rollers giving money to this pair. They'll protect those tax loopholes for the rich, like the ones Romney is hiding on the tax returns he won't show the American people. The Ryan budget won't only kill Medicare, it will exempt capital gains from taxation so Romney will pay much, much less than the low percentage he pays now!

Don`t you mean RYAN – Romney?

All the ideas, all the specifics are Ryan`s. All Romney has provided are "word salad" platitudes. To keep the TePaublicans happy, Romney will have to embrace the Ryan plan otherwise, they won`t vote for him because they don`t trust Mitt anymore than the rest of us do.

BTW, did Ryan vote with or agaisnt those idiot Tea Party member who EXACTLY a YEAR ago cost the United States it`s A-A-A credit rating?

Mitt Romney staked his first lead over President Obama in Gallup’s Daily Tracking Poll since July 18th today, 47 percent to 45 percent.

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Tuesday shows Mitt Romney attracting support from 47% of voters nationwide, while President Obama earns the vote from 44%. Four percent (4%) prefer some other candidate, and six percent (6%) are undecided.

Obama is not looking like a winner....maybe he should revive Hope and Change....do you think the people will fall for that AGAIN?

People who vote for the Republican ticket apparently want to put us back 100 years. I can't imagine that any thinking woman or senior, particularly, would vote for these two candidates. Romney flip flops so much he must get motion sick, and Paul Ryan is downright scary. He cares nothing for people who depend on Medicare and, from what I've read, doesn't approve of abortions even to save the life of the mother. So he'd rather have a motherless child...but let someone else take care of it. Republicans care tremendously about people...until they are born, then they are on their own! The Republicans MUST lose the election in November.

Romney should have put Palin on the ticket!! Romney is SUNK – He already embraced Ryan's Plan and now he is trying to distance himself from it. It's too late – Even if Romney tries to come out with his OWN PLAN – no one will believe him – Why? – Because he is an Etch-A-Sketch Flip-Flop Liar and you cannot trust what he says!!!

Under Romney/ Ryan taxes go down for everyone and loopholes go away. The wealthy will still pay much more than everyone else. Like now they will continue to carry the load. That's just the way it is and will continue to be.

And tell us how if seniors still have a choice to stick with the current system you can call it "killed"? You obviously don't get your information from anyone except your savior Obama. He tends to "embellish" facts during election years.

Ruin the party? These people aren't worried about us. They're not worried about anything. They're rich. No matter what happens, these people just keep applauding.

The Billionaires Bankrolling the Tea Party

Only the fat cats change — not their methods and not their pet bugaboos
(taxes, corporate regulation, organized labor, and government
“handouts” to the poor, unemployed, ill and elderly). Even the sources
of their fortunes remain fairly constant. Koch Industries began
with oil in the 1930s and now also spews an array of industrial
products, from Dixie cups to Lycra, not unlike DuPont’s portfolio of
paint and plastics. Sometimes the biological DNA persists as well. The
Koch brothers’ father, Fred, was among the select group chosen to serve
on the Birch Society’s top governing body.
In a recorded 1963 speech that survives in a University of Michigan
archive, he can be heard warning of “a takeover” of America in which
Communists would “infiltrate the highest offices of government in the
U.S. until the president is a Communist, unknown to the rest of us.”
That rant could be delivered as is at any Tea Party rally today.

Remember voters these elitist are getting their millions from the Adelsons,Kochs and Wall Street vultures, not like the thousands that contribute to the Obama campaign.Millionairs no matter how much they donate are considered only as one vote which is much less than the incumbents followers, numbered in the millions which is more than suffice in an election as large and important as this one. Your futures and well being depends on it,don't be foolish vote Obama/Biden2012..

2 GOP bozo's with no chance. Their big platform: keep trying to repeal healthcare, cancel Medicare and give old people a bunch of vouchers for health care (never mind how hard it is to figure out how to use a voucher system when you are in your 70's and 80's). Then they want to cancel SS program. Then probably take on Roe v Wade. Both ot them are completely lost for a strategy. Mindless boooobs.
