"The Obama Campaign has reached a new low," declared Mitt Romney campaign Press Secretary Andrea Saul in a Tuesday statement battering Vice President Joe Biden, who at a speech earlier Tuesday said Romney would deregulate the financial sector and "put y'all back in chains."
CNN: Ryan: 'Excited' for a campaign about budget
Rep. Paul Ryan answered questions about his past budget proposals in a Tuesday interview by saying he has "joined the Romney ticket" and is "excited" for a campaign in which the budget proposals of each campaign take a central role. His proposals have overshadowed Mitt Romney's own less-detailed proposal in the days since Republican presidential candidate Romney introduced Ryan on Saturday as his running mate.

Evangelist Billy Graham was released from the hospital Tuesday after a two-day stay and returned to his North Carolina home, Mission Hospital said. Pulmonologist Daniel Fertel said doctors caught his bronchitis early, a vital factor in his quick recovery. "Despite this illness he remains remarkably healthy for a 93-year-old man," the doctor said in a news release issued by the hospital.

An bomb attached to a diesel tanker exploded behind a hotel housing U.N. monitors, state-run TV reported Wednesday. Three people were wounded in the blast near the Dama Rose Hotel, but the observers tasked with monitoring the situation in Syria are safe, state media reported.

Egyptian President Mohamed Morsy appointed three new commanders Tuesday, just days after he shook up the country's powerful military leadership. He tapped leaders to head the navy, the air force and the air defense force, Morsy spokesman Yasser Ali announced on state TV.

CNNMoney: Ryan's controversial Social Security plan he doesn't discuss
Representative Paul Ryan has long wanted to let Americans invest part of their Social Security taxes in private investment accounts. After legislation he co-sponsored in 2005 went nowhere, Ryan included a detailed plan to privatize Social Security in his budget proposal in 2010. Under that plan, he would allow workers to funnel an average of roughly 40% of their payroll taxes into personal retirement accounts.

Greece is seeking a two-year extension of its latest austerity programme aimed at improving the country's debt sustainability and prospects for a return to growth, according to a document obtained by the Financial Times.
