Former Obama campaign co-chair introduces Ryan in Virginia

(CNN) – Artur Davis, the former four-term Democratic congressman from Alabama who co-chaired President Barack Obama's 2008 campaign, introduced the running mate of Obama's Republican challenger in Virginia Friday.

"Are you ready to meet the next vice president of the United States?" Davis asked at a rally in Springfield, Virginia. It was Ryan's second event of the day. He held a rally outside Richmond on Friday morning.

In his introduction, Davis pointed to Ryan's age – he's 42 – as having energized the GOP. Davis is 44.

"Remember a week ago, some of our Democratic friends had the illusion that we were kind of an older party. That were the party of the last generation. One week later I'm the oldest man on this stage right now," Davis said. "What a difference a week makes."

Davis, who said in May he was switching parties from Democrat to Republican, said he had only disagreed with Ryan on one subject: the status of Led Zeppelin as the "#1 band of the modern era."

"I questioned you as you said it. As a Genesis man, I questioned it," Davis said.

He also praised Ryan's willingness to advance a House GOP budget that included sometimes-unpopular cuts to programs in the name of cutting the federal debt.

"President Romney is going to have a vice president who believes, in a town where no one takes responsibility for anything, Washington D.C., this man wrote a budget with tough, hard, necessary choices. He put his name on it," Davis said.

Davis unlike most democrats realizes that the democratic party has been hijacked by the far left with the election of Obama in 2008.the democratic party under Obama has become hateful and violent,OWS is a prime example.

California Gary – you mean like California? Your state – which is coached in terms like the next Greece of America, the new Detroit of the US, hurtling into bankruptcy?

Your state is $17B in debt – $20B projected, it's economies is in ruins (2nd highest unemployment in the nation, ranked dead last for business opportunity due to over-regulation/taxation), and holds a third of all welfare recipients in the Nation (and where 40% of your population is on welfare).

Not a single blue state is prospering, they're all drowning in debt with expanding poverty/welfare rolls – while not all red states are, there's a number that are (the Dakotas, Texas, etc) with surplus'.

Nor let us forget that California takes in more than it puts into the pot ($1.50 – Senator Barbara Boxer and California Budget Bites "Does California get it's fair share of federal funds?").

Ya, you're a shining example why California ranks 46th in the states for an educated populace (Statesmaster dotcom rankings on education by state).

During this election season, realize that there are armies of professionally paid campaign trolls prowling the online sites to post comments that blast their opponents or lift their candidate(s).

California Gary.... research Maine's t/p Governor, remember the Wisconsin (R) Governor recall embarrassment, AZ's Gov basically gave D.C. the finger today, Perry's not listening to him and 45,000 volunteers (VOLUNTEERS) signed on since Ryan hit the spotlight.. The VA (R) introduced Romney in Norfolk and the Conservative train just left the station.

The V.P. debate looms and Biden was behind the woodshed yesterday. The staff ordered to muzzle him. Stand on your laurels, or step aside.

Now to answer you question, Obama isn't paying enough in unemployment and Food you guys have to straighten out the poverty program. The (R's) know how to run business and will be back.

Good to see the lefty leftist coming apart at the seems when someone of color wants to leave the Democrat plantation for a chance of bettering themselves.

Arthur Davis had better be ready for the wrath of OBAMA.

I applaud his courage to go up against the Chicago machine. They are tough and hateful. If you don't agree you are tarred and feathered.

Welcome aboard, when you are finished helping Romney/Ryan come to Chicago and help us get rid of Rahm & Barack.

Nice to see this gentleman, like Governor Wilder standing up to Obama/Biden. You know, Governor Wilder (first elected black governor since Reconstruction) who was dismissed today by Carney...who said Governor Wilder's comments berating Joe Biden's comments on putt'in y'all back in chains...had no point.

Anyone that uses the term "Uncle Tom" to describe a person that shows independence is a total and true racist. What ever the left can do to keep Black Americans on the Democrat Plantation.
What are the 3 letters at the end of:
    Republican – Can
    Democrat – Rat

Some folks just don't know when to say when.... Davis' political career is over so he's hoping to jump on the money train. They'll use him as long as they need him, then toss him under the bus. Poor sap.

It's time to wake up Libs. Your old and tired tactics of crying RACIST at anyone who doesn't agree with a certain political policy and your pathetic ways of dismissing Conservative Blacks as being Uncle Toms or "not really black" are useless. We are a more informed world now with the ability to fact check more thoroughly than ever before.

But I'm sure as we progress into the campaign season your ilk will continue to demonize, demagogue and assassinate characters as you have nothing left of your Hope and Change fraud to re-capture the "magic" of '08. It's over.

Here is one of the few Democrats who can actually think for himself instead of being fed his talking points from Obozo, Pelosi, Reid, ect. He dares to tell it like it is and liberals here become unhinged with racist hatred. As far as red states go, tell me why those states have all the job and economic growth, not to mention population growth? Low taxes, less regulation, and business friendly governments, that is why. As far as poverty goes, individuals need to take responsibility. That and recognize that liberals are the kings of creating poverty and keeping people down. You do not solve poverty by taking from those that have. You solve poverty by lifting others up. Economics is not a zero sum game, nitwits.

Only a racist would use the tired "Uncle Tom" tag. I say this man can choose for himself which evil to represent.
I'm amazed that it seems so many of you can't see that Democrats and Republicans are 2 dirty wings of the SAME vampire bat.

It's the blue AND red states that have record poverty and joblessness because of Bush, Obama, and THE FEDERAL RESERVE. look it up. learn what it does. learn who controls it. look at how it began. THINK THINK THINK. if you think the way out is a centrally planned economy by a central government then you've never learned from history.

Obama is downright toxic to any politicians future.... How many democrats have declared they weren't going to the DNC convention? 23?

When Obama makes a campaign stop in a swing state, the house democrats of that state mysteriously are absent from Obamas appearance...... If Obama was such political gold his supporters think he is these congress critters would be lining up and jumping all over themselves to get a photo op.... Its the exact opposite, these democrats can't run any faster in the opposite direction..

    Obama is toast.

The deranged, depraved, psychotic, racist liberal bigots are out in force on CNN with their "uncle Tom" comments. No suprise that they congregate here, at one of the few media outlets remaining that still toes the useful-idiot ruling-class-leftist party line.

I LOLLED out loud especially hard at the wit who suggested "red states" are the ones that are poverty-stricken. Yeah, those liberal states like Michigan, California, and New York are really showing the rest of us how it's done. Especially in the the more heavily Democrat regions like Detroit. Texas and Idaho (not to mention North Dakota) better take notice! Bwahaha.

So he actually expected to win a gubernatorial race in Alabama? So then he figures if he jumps across he aisle to the dark side, he can change labels and win. He should consider it monumental that he has achieved what he has. There's a question I hear, on the minds of many. "Did he change sides due to ideological shifting or because he feels that he can win a governor's race more aptly as a Republican?" The answer: How pathetic is this whole charade? Sorry. The answer is in the form of a question.

If "comments are not pre-screened" then why are comments automatically "awaiting moderation"? Typical hypocritical liberal media and their fake "discussion."

What a nice guy this is from Alabama! I would like to shake his hand! The Republicans will "use him and put him in his place?" That old put down to a black man is soooo last century! Grow up, you little babies. Maybe in about twenty years you will understand a smidgen about politics! Any person who can support Obama after all the lies he has told, and the pedestal he has tried to mount from day one as if he were some sort of a king or a tyrant stabbing his finger at people all the time, has to have some sort of mental block. Do you really want servitude for yourself and your children??????

isn't it funny how the only people who even mention race on here are the libs, who insult this man by name calling?

you want to know when we will truly be post-racial in this country? when a black man can be a Republican without anyone questioning his "authenticity." and when we can criticize a black president (who happens to be a really awful president) without being accused of racism.

There are Democrats defecting all over this country from the radical agenda of the Obama administration. Americans love their country first and foremost. The extremists that worship the Obama agenda hate America and seek to destroy it are domestic enemies of this country and should be treated as such. There is no longer such a thing as a moderate Democrat any longer. In fact, the Democratic Party is chasing them out as they did with Artur Davis along with the other blue dogs. You Democrats can thank Obama, Pelosi and Reid for destroying the DNC brand for years to come in just 4 years. America has had enough of Progressive Liberalism and its' Communist roots.

So great to see this change and turn around in Artur Davis. Welcome to the Republican Party, Artur! This is one of the most awesome events I have heard of. The actual 2008 Co-Chair endorses Romney/Ryan 2012 and actively campaigning for the comeback team. Obama and his team must be devastated. So many promises broken by Obama/Biden in 2008. So disappointing for people like Mr. Davis who have seen the failures of Obama and his honest rebuttal of his own actions in 2008. Glad to see in 2012 he has the vision and belief in America that Romney/Ryan are promoting to save America.
