Former Obama campaign co-chair introduces Ryan in Virginia

(CNN) – Artur Davis, the former four-term Democratic congressman from Alabama who co-chaired President Barack Obama's 2008 campaign, introduced the running mate of Obama's Republican challenger in Virginia Friday.

"Are you ready to meet the next vice president of the United States?" Davis asked at a rally in Springfield, Virginia. It was Ryan's second event of the day. He held a rally outside Richmond on Friday morning.

In his introduction, Davis pointed to Ryan's age – he's 42 – as having energized the GOP. Davis is 44.

"Remember a week ago, some of our Democratic friends had the illusion that we were kind of an older party. That were the party of the last generation. One week later I'm the oldest man on this stage right now," Davis said. "What a difference a week makes."

Davis, who said in May he was switching parties from Democrat to Republican, said he had only disagreed with Ryan on one subject: the status of Led Zeppelin as the "#1 band of the modern era."

"I questioned you as you said it. As a Genesis man, I questioned it," Davis said.

He also praised Ryan's willingness to advance a House GOP budget that included sometimes-unpopular cuts to programs in the name of cutting the federal debt.

"President Romney is going to have a vice president who believes, in a town where no one takes responsibility for anything, Washington D.C., this man wrote a budget with tough, hard, necessary choices. He put his name on it," Davis said.

If you ever wondered who the REAL racists in this country are just read the comments here. I have not heard Mr Davis say anything not classy about Obama and the Dems. Y'll ought to be ashamed of yourselves.

Perhaps he just sees a winner, as he did in 2008, and wants to re-hitch his wagon...

Thank you, Mr. Davis – for having the courage to change parties when you realized that today's Democrat Party policy's would destroy our nation if allowed to continue!

@ California Gary- Tennessee (red state) deals with its poverty by finding them better jobs, help them aspire to reach for higher education, and keep taxes low for all of us. In California you will spend your life's savings trying to feed a man for a day off the tax payer's back rather than teach him how to hunt a job (and provide the necessary business climate for job creation). You nor your state really have no room to talk. #out of touch

A toast to the Democrats and Republicans, who together have nurtured discord and contention as a means to deflect attention away from their slight of hand. Let us bicker uselessly among ourselves as these politicians of every ilk shamelessly pick our pockets.

LOL. Poor Obama sheep. Things just keep getting worse for the sheep. Time to use a dead cancer victim to attack Romney. Time to tell African Americans that Romney will put them in chains. Now calling Davis an Uncle Tom. Poor pathetic sheep.

Hey California Gary, Before you start attacking Republicans for the conditions in the red states, you might want to stop and look at who has been running almost every bankrupt and decaying city in the country for the last 20 or so years. Oh, Surprise! That would be the Democrats. By the way, How's that Hopey Changey crap going out there in the land of the loons?

Understand Artur Davis lost the election in Alabama 2 or 3 years ago.. he has since moved to virginia and has his eye on a redistricted seat in a Republican district. He wants Republican Party support for a run for that district seat. That's it.. a pure politician... he doesn't care what the folks in Alabama think .. he's left that show behind. He's angling for his next career slot and all other things, including Barack Obama, are a distraction. If you want to punish him.. then you'll have to start playing the game as hard as he is!

Actually, California Gary, the opposite is true. The states with the highest unemployment and highest crime rate happen to be governed by Democrats.

Many of the post in this thread prove that the Democrats are the party of rasicm. The Democratic party has always been the party of anti blacks and all the post in this thread have proved that they are still pushing this theme. They only care about blacks if the those said blacks are voting for their agenda. Screw these racist. They are anti-American and need to be delt with.

He is a Willie Lynch, he was the cause he did not win his position. He was not fulfilling his people needs and this is why he was rejected. Now when Mitt and Ryan does not win keep him from becoming a Dem again we do not need people like him in our race.

No, wrong. He's actually one of the very few Democrats who is honest. He has called out this fake president and his fake government. What's wrong with that? Obama IS a total fraud, after all. What's wrong with saying it??

We all need to start a protest against Mitt and Ryan refusing to release their tax records and all these liars he is telling. He wants to cut Medicaid and Medicare with a voucher, privatize people SS and he has passed this budget in 2012. All these GOP Republican bexcept 10 did not vote for this and the majority of them was black. We need to hold all them account GOP. He voted against funds for Parent Planhood, Pell Grant, Women amnd doctor be charged with a crime if they have or perform an abortion. He voted against food stamps and funding for kids education, also 37 times to repeal Healthcare Act. Now he want to lie about him voting. He also voted against the job act.

The black man has left the plantation and now the Democrats him back in chains. Seriously, where was the outrage when Jim Jeffords switched to the Dems from being a Republcan? Pot meet kettle. Has anyone ever considered that the Democrats are the reason black people are chained to the teat of government dependence? After all, Robert KKK Byrd was a Democrat hero. The Republicans believe that minorities are just as capable as everyone else and don't need special help. Democrats are bigots.
