Washington (CNN) - In an effort to create more jobs and improve transportation, the Obama administration announced a new "Use It or Lose It" program Friday, making nearly $500 million in unspent earmarks available for states to use on so-called "shovel ready" infrastructure projects.
From 2003 to 2006, Congress set aside $473 million in earmark transportation funds that have never been spent.

But the GOP has an anti abortion bill that will create jobs.
Well,we know gov Scott in fl,is to stupid to use it,he already turned down millions for job creating high speed rail and numerous federal funds for education and healthcare that will cost us more later ,just so he can tow the Gop bafoons party line .the only way the Gop can win in Nov ,is by fixing the election ,all bets are off if that happends!!!
Spend it!!! Put these construction workers back to work while it's still the season for it. In my city of NN, VA, we've got a STIMULUS project kicking off on Monday. We're building a much needed road that will ease traffic conditions in my growing, congested city. This road also consist of a bridge. An estimated 75-100 workers now have some work to do thanks to the STIMULUS.
Remember after Bush was asleep at the wheel, and we were attacked on 9-11? Remember how everyone feared for their safety from terrorists, while the Bush/republican economy cratered? Thanks to our current president, we have been kept safe, and if the anti American obstructionist GOPers in congress would vote to put Americans back to work, we could kiss the republican near depression "Goodbye."
But the GOP has an "In God We Trust" bill that will create jobs.
Nice, shovel ready part 2. Throwing more taxpayer money at the unions to buy votes.
The only thing 'shovel ready' is what's spewing from Obama's pie hole.
How about getting dirty harry to pass a budget...aww guess they went on recess...oohh should be a good time to appoint some czars
What is Congressional Republicans contribution to the nations infrastructure.....Vacation. I think we should thank them for all their help by voting them out
Wasn't this a Republican Congress under Bush? "From 2003 to 2006, Congress set aside $473 million in earmark transportation funds that have never been spent." Which means under Obama's theory that you didn't build that, this would fall under Bush and the Republican Congress so the credit goes to Bush and the Republican credit because they did it not Obama.

I wonder how many rethug governors will refuse, like mcconnel who would rather see a bridge closed than fixed, a couple of years ago.
Money means jobs. Oh wait, that's the problem. Gawd forbid that the unemployed find work!
That is sooooooooooooo unteapublikkkan!!!
@bb – looks like the clown car is making it's rounds with the Teatrolls here today too. Can't wait until Ron Paul pulls the rug out from under the most divisive, mean, lie-filled R&R campaign at the RNC circus in Tampa.
It won't matter the R&R team will be taking permanent R&R come Nov 7th !! Hahahahaha

The article says... "From 2003 to 2006, Congress set aside $473 million in earmark transportation funds that have never been spent." Wouldn't this have been done by the GOP since Congress was Republican at that time? GOP set aside $473 million dollars???? correct me if I'm wrong.
Ryan co-sponsored a “personhood” amendment, an extreme anti-abortion measure
The Bush Tax Cuts (increasing the deficit by $1.7 trillion over
the last ten years) Medicare Part D (increasing the federal debt by
$395 billion between 2004 and 20013) The Wars in Iraq and Afghanistan
(increasing the deficit by $1.47 trillion over the last ten years)
Increased defense spending and more tax cuts like the capital gains cuts and inheritance tax reduction (Hundreds of billions more in increased defense
spending, and tens of billions more in tax cuts) TARP (initial cost
of $700 billion, but reduced by subsequent payments)
Ryan had sought stimulus funds for local energy conservation groups from the Department of Energy in late 2009, and a 2010 Wall Street Journal report indicated he sought funds for another local group from the Labor Department.

Wasn't Congress back in 2003-2006 Republican? If yes, should Obama say thank-you to the Republican Congress for setting aside $473 million that now Obama can spend on jobs???????
Republicans,if they turn this or any jobs bill down they're toast, the president will use executive order to sign it into law and screw the hypocritical republicans. He should have done this sooner, jobs are down because piblic sector jobs are being scrapped and republican governors are responsible for it,remember Walker,Scott and the other republicans they're killing us in the name of Romney, they'll see after November,I bet money on it!!
I am sure some of the republicans that want government out of their lives will have their hands out.
Oh. Just what we need. MORE SHOVEL READY. Tell the unions to open their pockets – here comes the taxpayer dollars.
