Obama team: 'We feel good' about Wisconsin

(CNN) - A day after a CNN/ORC Poll showed President Barack Obama and Mitt Romney in a statistical tie in Wisconsin, a spokeswoman for the incumbent Democrat's campaign said they felt good about their chances of winning there.

"We know this race is going to be decided in a handful of states. We feel good about our campaign in Wisconsin," Obama campaign traveling press secretary Jen Psaki said on CNN. "We've had a grass roots organization there since the president ran the last time. We have a great group of supporters there. We're going to be spending some time there I bet."

On Thursday CNN changed Wisconsin – which carries 10 electoral votes – from a "lean Obama" rating to a "toss up" on the CNN Electoral Map. The move came after Mitt Romney, Obama's Republican challenger, named Rep. Paul Ryan of Wisconsin as his running mate. While Ryan's announcement did not dramatically alter the presidential poll numbers in Wisconsin, it did change the way both campaigns viewed the state of the race in the state.

The poll, which was conducted entirely Ryan joined the GOP ticket, indicated 49% of registered voters in Wisconsin say they back Obama, with 45% supporting Romney. The president's four point advantage over Romney is within the survey's sampling error.

Two other polls conducted last week, before the Ryan announcement, indicated the president holding a single digit advantage in a state he won by 14 points in the 2008 presidential election.

Psaki said voters in Wisconsin – and around the country - were still waiting to hear a plan with substance from Romney.

"We know also that the people in Wisconsin are concerned about the same issues that people across the country are," Psaki said. "I still can't name three things they're going to do. Why are they opposed to providing access to affordable health care to the American people? Why is their tax plan extending benefits to the highest income and letting it bear the burden on the middle class? These are questions people in Wisconsin have as well."

A Republican has not won a presidential election in Wisconsin since 1984.

CNN's Kevin Liptak and Paul Steinhauser contributed to this report.

A federal election does not belong under the control of U.S. states. The presidential election is a federal election and no state deserves the responsibility of 10th Amendment rights to control who votes and when they vote in a federal election. This election needs to be federalized across the nation making it easier for Americans to vote – not harder.

The only way the GOP can hope to win this election is by massive nationwide voter suppression, which, they are successfully doing.

What do you say America? Time to take back our country from the Oligarchical Lords of Treasure, Oppression and Suppression, don't you think?

Romney has made lots of money and can buy pretty much whatever he wants to have. he is bored by being just wealthy. He is looking at the President realizing that is what I want to be/buy, but he forgets that you need to be qualified. He is a man without courage, without vision, without any clue about international affairs. His experience in business is just using the same template over and over again, with only one goal: more money. People are completely secondary as it is with most Republicans. With Ryan on the ticket comapassion went out the window and Social Security on it's way to Las Vegas.

  3. ThinkAgain: Under the Ryan Plan, Romney Pays 0.87% in taxes

The debates will clinch it for President Obama.

That said, the GOP is doing everything they can to suppress the vote, from changing voter registration deadlines to exclude college students, to demanding photo ID where none were required in the past. It is absolutely necessary for every Independent, Democrat and thinking Republican to GET OUT AND VOTE FOR PRESIDENT OBAMA in November 2012.

    Obama/Biden 2012 = The only sane choice

"I have a better one, how about we tell President Obama to put back the $716 billion dollars he took from Medicare to pay for Obamacare and find money somewhere else to pay for Obamacare and leave our Medicare money alone or we can loan it to Obamacare and Obamacare can pay each one of us an interest."

You should come live with us in a world where people use numbers, math and facts to support arguments. Politifact independently has checked this information and even Romney uses this source.

"While the health care law reduces the amount of future spending growth in Medicare, the law doesn't actually cut Medicare."

  5. Obama - Ending the American Dream as We Know It

Unemployment continues to climb, the debt continues to grow at record pace, the economy slides into recession again....

Bye, bye Obama. Time for some COMPETENCE and EXPERIENCE at the helm of this country. The American people have seen the leftist control bring the country to the verge of bankruptcy and constant high unemployment.

REAL Hope & Change is coming in November. Romney/Ryan.

It can't get here soon enough.

I cherish our constitution ... as I swore to uphold and defend it, when I served in America's military.
Even though Obama NEVER served, he too swore to uphold and defend our constitution, only to break
that oath on numerous occasions. Obama's knowledge of our constitution is only used as a tool to work
around , and violate our constitution. Obama also ignores our seperation of powers, and demeans the intent
of our founding fathers ... as well as all the American traditions our brave patriots have fought and died for,
over the past 236 years !!! Unfortunately, Obama dishonors our right to free speech, because you use this right to lie.

tie in Wisconsin BS! President Obama and the Democrats feel confident like they did before the 2010 election, like before the recall election in Wisconsin for Governor Scott Walker. President Obama and the 23 Senators up for election in 2012 better understand their jobs are on the line, they will be replaced.

I am so surprised about that poll...I thought Romney added Ryan in the ticket , then Wisconsin should be in their control. Unfortunately, it still leans to Obama and they will vote for Obama....Sad news for GOP and Romney....They are poor at math....they jumped out from the winning ship in Florida and came in the losing boat in Wisconsin...now they losing Florida......They are panic now...haha...Romney campaign manager are poor management and calculations...They underestimated Obama .....Romney should fire them all....to save his campaign...

Higher than 8% unemployment, bad economic news and all Obama/ Biden 2012 talks about are tax returns. Mitt Romney's plan helps create 12 million jobs in his first term. Americans are ready for better results. Romney/ Ryan 2012.

There's no question that Romney & Ryan want to change medicare and send Social Security to Wallstreet to manage. Paul Ryan and George Bush tried this in 2005. It was crushed by Republicans & Demacrates both. The whole issuue is People getting Medical Treatment FREE. They do that when they go to the Hospitals for their medical problems. The Aforadible Care Act stops that. Now people have to buy Health Insurance through Medicade. With everyone paying for their health care it lowers the threat of medicare being broke. The 700 million used from medicare strenghtens medicares base. It assures us that medicare stays solvent. Dismantelling Medicare and sending Social Security to Wallstreet will distroy this country period. Could you imagine if Ryan & Bush did do that back in 2005 ? The CRASH we all experienced on Wallstreet ? There would be NO Social Security or Medicare period.

Time to quit yelling at each other and start fixing the country. You all soundlike a bunch of losers... Obama is from Kenya. Obama spends more than any Prez ever did, Romney didn't release his taxes, Ryan listens to RATM. Why don't you discuss what each will do over the next four years? Will Obama fix the healthcare system; will R and R save our entitlement programs? I mean, we had a bipartisan Simpson and Bowles come up with a solution that was geared towards Obama's adminnistration and the Repubs. Get it out of the trashcan, dust it off, and implement it. That's a first step.

The only reason Obama is pushing Romney releasing the tax returns is to divert attention away from his pitiful performance at being president and a lot of people seem to be falling for it.

Have you seen what Governor Scott Walker's policies have been doing to Wisconsin's economy over the past year? The Obama campaign can feel good about Wisconsin because we have an example sitting right in front of us of how the extremist policies that Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan are pushing don't work. We are living the failure every day, and it's getting very clear where that failure is coming from. Hint: not from President Obama. Wisconsinites are very practical people and we like a government that works. The GOP has spent the last three and a half years trying to prove that they can make government not work. I think they have us convinced of their abilities to jam up the works, and of their intent to mess things up even further if they get the chance. Even with a Wisconsinite on the ticket Romney doesn't stand a chance here in November, and closer examination of Paul Ryan's political philosophy and economic proposals - combined with continued bad results from Scott Walker's reign of error - may very well set off a Democratic landslide. Even Tommy Thompson could go down, which would be something akin to the earth opening up and swallowing Mount Rushmore, as far as the Wisconsin political landscape is concerned.

reduces the amount of future spending growth in Medicare
    ----------------------------

Please explain how it reduces????? I read the article in Politifact which is pretty vague, is it hospital services, home health services, nurses services, medications. Will facilities cut back services to Medicare patients because their fees will be cut tremendously in order to pay for all those NON-Senior Citizens in Obamacare??????? Please explain.

Read Obama's comments about whether he will will the state or not. Can he ever just say "yes" or "no'? This would be amusing but it the reason he has broken many of his 2008 campaign promises. He talks at issues ambiguously in preppy corporate style instead of standing up and doing the liberal thing which people gave him their votes to do. He would be a great middle manager somewhere.

After the Colorado shooting there was lots of talk but what specific, concrete recommendation or mandate did he issue? The same as Romney: nothing.

"Higher than 8% unemployment, bad economic news and all Obama/ Biden 2012 talks about are tax returns"

One could argue that tax returns are what keeps this country running. Who knows? This could be a gold mine for the Romney campaign. A "why we are where we are" fiscal learing experience for all the you people who aren't as savvy as the Romneys of the world.
