Tax returns, Medicare dominate campaign focus

(CNN) - On a relatively quiet Friday on the campaign trail, President Barack Obama's team grabbed the attention with moves that spotlighted Republican challenger Mitt Romney's tax returns and his Medicare proposal.

With neither candidate making any public appearances, their advisers and surrogates kept up attacks in the contentious battle to frame the candidates and major issues less than three months before the November election.

When we have a job, GOP threatens to take it away by making it easy for corporations to outsource it overseas.

When we become unemployed, GOP threatens our livelihood by seeking to take away our unemployment benefits.

When our banks and Wall Street firms play wild games with money and threaten global financial health, GOP says it is a good thing that the free capitalist markets are at work even though millions lose their jobs.

When our kids get into the best private colleges after working their buts off, GOP threatens to make it impossible for them to actually enroll and finish colleges by taking away loans and financial assistance.

When our kids manage to finish and get their degrees with huge debts to repay, the jobs they apply for disappear and go overseas, thanks to people like Romney and his Bain Capital.

When GOP gets their way with medicare and medicaid, our parents will no longer support themselves financially in their older age...

And while we go and file for bankruptcy, our super rich counterparts are becoming super super rich, sipping champaign at one of their many super luxurious vacation homes, laughing and congratulating themselves on their fortunes, singing "The rich get richer and the poor get children..."

    Thanks Romney/Ryan.

Isn't it amusing that GOP is now advocating for social programs? They now want to leave Medicare, Social Security and Medicaid without any changes according to Myth Dumbney. Myth and Ryan are now changing positions faster than the speed BOLT ran in the Olympics. Little do they know that they have contradicted and setup themselves. The American people now have 2 swishy-washy GOP candidates who are denying having positions on any issue. Even Ryan doesn't know when his own budget will balance. HILARIOUS!

I was just watching a campaign ad on TV about Medicare and when it starts I could swear that it's a Democratic ad then it goes into the continued lie that the President has used $740M for something or other.
That is a downright lie and NBC should NOT be allowed to continue to lie just because they are a corporations are people. It's disgusting and downright right wing zealot bs!

    FDR said of republicans:

They will promise you more, bigger, and better and it won't cost you a dime.

Reps have been trying for 40 years to shrink medicare to the size of a tub and then drown it. (Norquist and Rove brag about it publicly).

    Do I trust republicans? NO

Tax returns is ruling this debate. We have a candidate who can't be forthcoming with us and want us to just take him at his word. We already know that R&R want to end Medicare as we know and privatize it. No news there. The news is TAXES!!! RELEASE THE RETURNS!!!

Another post filled with Obama talking points, Romney's taxes and raise the taxes on the incomes over 250K.
How about some information about Obama's plan to solve America's problems.
None to be found. There is none. Just hate and division.

Actually the correct amount is $716 billion dollars Obama has taken from Medicare to pay for Obamacare. You can confirm it with Democrats. The problem is that Obama took our money from our Medicare to pay for Obamacare and Obama does agree with Ryan that Medicare will end in 2024 if something is not changed so now the changes is what people are disagreeing about along with the $716 billion dollars out of Medicare.

Silly, the IRS can and does look at everyone's tax returns, including Romney's tax returns, they know exactly what is in there. Do you really think the IRS has no idea about his monies??? We are talking about the IRS.

"Actually the correct amount is $716 billion dollars Obama has taken from Medicare to pay for Obamacare."

Nothing was "taken from" Medicare, you liar. They reduced the hospital reimbursement and subsidization rates, implemented additional measures to reduce fraudm, etc. The ACA has expended prescription drug coverage for seniors and expanded Medicaid in ways that cover gaps in Medicare that seniors frequently fall through. STOP LYING.

Moreover, Ryan's own budget, that the GOP/Teatrolls passed TWICE and Mittens promised to sign if it landed on his desk as POTUS, includes the same savings. So STOP BEING HYPOCRITES.

Gov. Romney is not presidential material, nor is Paul Ryan vice presidential material. The Vulture/Voucher candidates want to kill the middle class and throw my 89 and 85 year old father and mother off the cliff. Not only are seniors against Ryan/Romney but their children as well who are the bulk of the baby boomers.

Sniffit- Seniors know better and Obamacare is responsible for the stripping of $716 Billion from Medicare. Even the truthful Democrats admit that.

apparently repos are really stupid they think the president took 717 . billion from medicare. They either lie or are idiots. Listen to the nonsense they spew. Show us your taxes mitt tell us why you keep your money overseas. Ryan tell us how you didn't take stimulis money when you did. Rvan signed for it then blamed it on an aid. Two lying loosers and none of rhe repo clowns can defend them instead they say show us the presidents college transcripts. What a bunch of clowns. Lying about taxes will effect every american and we need to kow what kind of policy mittens will initiate. Is the middle class going to foot the bill? If ryan plan goes into effect we will.
