Group targets Koch brothers on cable ads

(CNN) – The liberal group Patriot Majority launched a cable television ad campaign Tuesday going after the Koch brothers, who are major supporters of conservative and libertarian causes.

Patriot Majority said it was initially spending $500,000 to air the ads, and expects to spend more than a million dollars by the end of 2012.

"Billionaire oil tycoons Charles and David Koch and their special interest friends are $400 million to buy this year's elections and advance their agenda. What's their payback? Politicians who will pass laws that benefit special interests but hurt the middle class," a narrator in the minute-long spot says.

The ad claims the Koch brothers' donations to politicians are prompted by a desire for policies that would help them financially, including lowering tax rates for the wealthy and changing Medicare to allow private insurers to compete with the government-funded health program on an exchange.

The ad says those policies would hurt the middle class while lining wealthy people's pockets.

"Don't let the Kochs use their billions to buy this election," the narrator in the ad concludes.

The Koch brothers are high-profile figures in the Republican Party who support conservative and libertarian causes. Backers of the group Americans for Prosperity, the pair of industrialists are expected to spend tens – if not hundreds – of millions on Republican causes this year.

In July, the Kochs hosted a fund-raiser for Mitt Romney in Southampton, which drew multiple protests from Occupy Wall Street crowds.

Patriot Majority, founded in 2005 by a Democratic operative, has received a large chunk of its donations from labor unions, according to FactCheck.org. The American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees gave the group $500,000 in 2010. The Service Employees International Union also donated to the group.

The misguided conservatives in this country believe the Koch brothers are only going to help make life better for everyone. These corporations already have most politicians in their pockets. If we force our goverment to change the current laws, the Koch brothers and the like will have no power. This will never happen because Faux news has these people brainwashed. 50 years from now it will be the many poor agaist the few rich. Who will win in the end?

It is a good ad and should run every corner of all states BUT the narrator reads so fast that I doubt seniors will be able to get all points said about Koch Bros.

Thank you for revealing the silent bidders for this years presidencial campaign, the Koch brothers ,Adelson, Carl Rove and others are the biggest contributors .They want their lapdogs in the White House at any price, they think its their year but its their arrogence that will be their undoing, people see thru their negetivity and their Swiftboat type ads,its really comical how bad they lie and how ignorent the republican party as a whole is to believe them. But its the voter supression laws in republican led states that'll change the way voters really care,if they have ID already,no big deal,if they're a minority, senior, disabled, infermed it'll be a challenge some won't or can't take just to have the freedom to vote, the republicans are hoping for the latter so they can keep their extremist reps on Capital Hill and a new republican extremist in the White House!!!

I have one simple question and that is where has Paul Ryan in all of this. All of a sudden he isn't in front of a camera speaking! He doesn't hesitate to open his mouth on everything else. Romney said a few words and Ryan just sat there like a monkey not saying a word. He can't speak up about this because he knows the country would turn on him for his disgusting beliefs. What kind of human being could associate themselves with Akin and start such a group as to categorize rape! He is a sick and scary person . People wake up and do not put these two in office. We are in BIG, BIG trouble with these two. Be very, very afraid and make sure you vote for Obama on election day.

The GOP politicians and candidates are the puppets and front men for the Koch Brothers, Sheldon Adelson, and Grover Norquist, big oil, and Wall St..They are not the people's servants. From taxes, to unions and collective bargaining rights, to the bogus voter fraud campaign,The Koch Brothers, and the others have funded initiatives that hurt most of America; and the rank and file GOP base are clueless.Koch and the others even bankroll the Tea Party.

Mitch McConnell supports the secret funding of right wing campaigns with no identification of where the money is coming from so that no one can launch a counter-campaign like this-it hurts right winger's feelings.

The Kochs netted over $26 billion in profits last year. Under the Ryan plan, they could save over $6 billion more in taxes. That makes $400 million small change.

Ruin the party? These people aren't worried about us. They're not worried about anything. They're rich. No matter what happens, these people just keep applauding.

The Billionaires Bankrolling the Tea Party

Only the fat cats change — not their methods and not their pet bugaboos
(taxes, corporate regulation, organized labor, and government
“handouts” to the poor, unemployed, ill and elderly). Even the sources
of their fortunes remain fairly constant. Koch Industries began
with oil in the 1930s and now also spews an array of industrial
products, from Dixie cups to Lycra, not unlike DuPont’s portfolio of
paint and plastics. Sometimes the biological DNA persists as well. The
Koch brothers’ father, Fred, was among the select group chosen to serve
on the Birch Society’s top governing body.
In a recorded 1963 speech that survives in a University of Michigan
archive, he can be heard warning of “a takeover” of America in which
Communists would “infiltrate the highest offices of government in the
U.S. until the president is a Communist, unknown to the rest of us.”
That rant could be delivered as is at any Tea Party rally today.

Now you are getting at the root of the evil. Let the public know products that are sold by the Koch Brothers, I would like to boycott them all. They stole oil from public lands, have funded climate change ney sayers. They fight any change from our adiction to oil. They are the Patron Saints of the GOP (Guardians of Oils Power).

The two party system is a joke! Instead of the individual running on their own merits, beliefs, and policies they simply label them selves DEM or GOP thus giving their real views cover to hide behind and dividing the nation between extremist views… I lean slightly to the liberal side because I fear those rooted in the GOP that would impose a theocracy upon the American people more then I fear the people that want to give us government provided healthcare.

I'm surprise CNN is telling us about this. CNN is so far right I would think they dont want to rock the boat with the repubs.
I look at CNN and MSNBC, however I can't stand to keep my channel on CNN to long, it's terrible how bias candy, wolf, and especially john king are he should just go to fox news king is terrible.

watch the next time the President and the r's are doing a campaign speech, CNN will not show the President, but you can bet you bottom dollar they will be all over the r's speeches, The ratings for CNN are proving me correct even though this post probably won't show here.

    Lemme See,
The liberal'a want to close the Barn Door after the Horse escaped. We already have enough Red Ink to last the next Hundred years, if we start using some Fiscal Responsibility now. The Liberal's and Democrats want to run the country but they want the Republicialn's and Conservatives to pay for it.

The Kochs support gay marriage and stem cell research. They opposed the Iraq war. Liberals should not hate them as much as they do.
