(CNN) – Mitt Romney, in remarks at a fund-raiser Tuesday, took a jab at President Barack Obama's campaign one day after financial filings revealed the president's re-election team had spent more money than it raised in July.
"We're a little wiser in our spending of dollars than the other side, apparently," Romney said, according to pool reports. "I'm not managing their campaign for them, but we're going to spend our money wisely. We're going to spend it to win."

The presumptive GOP presidential nominee made his comments while speaking at a private fund-raising event in Houston–one of two events in Texas for Romney on Tuesday. He later heads to Midland for a reception at the Petroleum Club. Combined, the events are expected to yield $6-7 million, the campaign said.
Obama's team took in $49.2 million in July but spent $59 million, according to the campaign's monthly filing with the Federal Election Commission released Monday. The campaign reported finishing the month with $87.7 million in the bank, down from $97.7 million at the beginning of July.
Reports also show that when combining the Obama campaign's haul with that of the Obama Victory Fund and the Democratic National Committee, the Obama re-election effort had about $124 million in the bank. The amount is considerably less than that of Romney's campaign and allies, which announced they had $185.9 million in the bank at the end of July.
The former Massachusetts governor also told the crowd, which included energy executives such as oil tycoon Harold Hamm, that he would be laying out a "comprehensive energy plan" in New Mexico by the end of the week. Romney, who said the plan would focus on "fossil-based fuels," asked the audience for input as he decides on the final details of the plan.
"I have a different approach, I think, generally to the role of government as it relates to energy, as well as other aspects of our economy," Romney said. "And it flows from a growing perspective I have throughout my life and frankly, during this campaign, about the power of individuals as opposed to government, individuals pursuing their interests and dreams."
Sen. Rob Portman of Ohio, Texas Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst and Senate candidate Ted Cruz of Texas were also at the Houston event.
Romney continues to rave that he willl take our country back to the place in the world it should be...that our presiident hasn't done....I wonder if he means as he did in Massachusetts where they were on the bottom of the heap job wise when he left his governorship before his term was over???/He says he spends money more wisely than our president...interpretation..........he has an elevator for his cars in his garage!!!! This man can barely finish a sentence when he rambles on about how he'll make eveything work better ....the little people and midddle will be better off...of course .don't touch that millionaire tax break..... I'v come to the conclusion that he goes on and on like this because as folks used to say" he likes to hear himself talk"" Now... if he would just listen to himself...he might learn something!!!!!!
Of course romney has more than the obama administration, he's rich! If we took all his offshore accounts and cashed in all his houses and cars, we could fix the deficit the US has because of the bush administration!
Romney is too full of himself.....He would be a terriable leader.....He only cares about the rich .......besides that he's a mormon.....really?
Release your tax returns and your list of donors with amounts and let US decide how "wise" you really are.
Ever hear the term we's rich, we spend more than you make,
In 200 years I can not find a job, they owe me.
We are up side down on our loan....so are most driver when they drive off the car lot...
Glorify the poor, and damn the rich.
No wonder every one love to be poor, who needs to plant a garden...Food banks will feed you..
That's the GOP way. Spend more money for less results. Release your taxes to show us how "wise" you really are!!!
"We're going to spend it to win." Sounds like you are trying to buy the Presidency. Release your taxes.
So he has elevator for his cars and he says he used his money smarter? REALLY?
Romney has a lot more experience handling money, especially in shipping cash to offshore tax havens.
Reagan and Carter were close up till the end....then it was Reagan in a landslide! and I recall that Obama WAY outspent McCain in 2008–and that was just fine with Obama and the democrats....now they complain that Romney is fundraising more than them and spending his campaign money more wisely. This is what we need in this country, for someone who's smart and compitent to be wise with our taxpayer dollars and not flush them down the toilet. For the love of God can we get a balanced budget? and NO, raising taxes will not get the deficit down....it will barely scratch the surface and cause the economy to either slow even more down if that's possible, or crash.
If Romney spends better than Obama, he would have more middle class people working for him. In Ohio, Obama's OFA's grassroots campaign has lots and lots of paid position in counties all over Ohio. Romney has one office in one county. Looks like Obama has people working. Every office has one paid position and several of those office have one paid person over seeing those counties. In our area we have one paid person working two counties. Again Obama would rather pay people to work, than Romney. Maybe Obama doesn't have as many ads, but those ads are real and about him. I'll vote for Obama this November.
