Top Dems, Obama campaign seek to tie Romney to GOP anti-abortion stance

(CNN) - Top Democrats on Tuesday pounced on news that Republicans adopted as part of their party platform a call for a constitutional ban on abortion and sought to tie the controversial policy plank to Mitt Romney’s campaign.

In a conference call with reporters, Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz asserted that the measure, which does not provide an exception for pregnancies that result from rape and incest, “was written at the direction of the Romney campaign.”

So wait? How can the Romney and other republican congress/senate figures slap down Akin, have the FRC admonish the people who spoke out against those speaking out on Akin, Then have the GOP praise the planking that all abortions would be illegal which was a joint effort between Akin and Paul Ryan, then have the RNC remove funding for Akins campaign?

    What are you people doing??

It's the GOP platform and Romney is the lader of the party right now, so it shouldn't be too hard to tie him to anything the GOP says or does from here on out. This is the path Romney chose.

I wont try to stop the Republicans from trotting down the Romnye/Ryan/Akin Plank.

Yes, please enlighten me some more about limited government and how that's a core principle while selling me the point of new laws and restrictions on women's rights. Without being hypocritical. Go!

Romney/Ryan/Todd Akin's philosophy is abhorrent. The Republican platform to rape victims....your story is NOT LEGIT!!!!!

Romney knows and approves of this no abortion plan. He's just pretending now until he's the president, then he will dump it on women.

The GOP are doing their very best to ensure abortion rights get defeated. How do they do that? By adding personhood amendments to bills on the House Floor. HR 3 was the THIRD issue of the 2010 new GOP House. Included all of the reasons that a life begins at conception. The Personhood part of it would make it COMPLETELY illegal to harm that life. It's a little clever way to get around the abortion issue, just prosecute the woman for any harm done to the 'life".

I would suggest that the GOP abort Akin, but then again, the GOP conceived and gave birth to that abomination.

When did this happen???? "Debbie Wasserman Schultz asserted that the measure, which does not provide an exception for pregnancies that result from rape and incest, “was written at the direction of the Romney campaign". I haven't seen or heard that Romney's campaign did this. Then the article states "His running mate, Paul Ryan, has opposed exceptions for rape though the Wisconsin congressman now says he defers to Romney's position." Romney's position is what as off yesterday??????

Doesn't Mitt have to sign the platform, which voids his statement that "abortion would be allowed in the case of rape"?
MItt, leader of the Party, has just been undercut. Romney won't stand up for anything except when his wife
enters the room. I have never seen a candidate like Romney that wants a job so badly he will do, say, and pay
anything to get it, but offers nothing to the employers (the American people) that would help them decide to hire
him. He is a firm believer in "money talks, so he doesn't have to".

Romney has already said he would sign the Ryan/Akin personhood bill into law if he were president. This was during a Huckabee interview with Mittens.

Not much tying to be done. Akin's position on birth control and abortion are identical to Rayn's. They supported the exact same bills in the House. Give Mr. Romney a minute or two and he'll flip-flop as well.

They really don't need to work all that hard, Romney is the top name on the GOP ticket. But as you can see, once again their not on the same page. Romney's right hand man voted on the same policies as Akin did. Now they can't defend one of their own...So now do you think they'll DEFEND you & the rest of us 98% of Americans who they dont care about anyway. You make the choice.

  18. Say No to Willard Romney Hood and Personhood Ann Ryand

They don't need to seek anything. The facts are that Ryan is a personhood legislator. Willard would sign the personhood into law. The GOP platform is anti-abortion even in cases of rape/incest. It is what it is.
Reporting it accurately is not difficult, sheesh.

Question for the guys on this blog......

If someone would tell you that one of the candidates only participated in the glee club, pep club and the homecoming dance, but never played sports or held a class office in high school, ......then bullied someone because they were gay (bravado), then dodged the draft by going to France on a religious mission while his classmates were fighting the Vietnam War..........Would this be someone that you would ever consider voting for?

No, that hasn't been forgotten either. People are just taking a moment to marvel at the stunningly regressive nature of the GOTeavangelical party. Just more reasons not to vote for anyone with an R after their name.

Let's discuss and sepatate the real issues.
    Rape:
Rape is a personal violation. A child may be one of the results. Victims, the mother, potential child.
    Abortion:
Abortion is murder, An innocent, helpless, life, terminated, no chance to live it. Victim the child.
Both rape and abortion happen without the consent of the victim.
Do 2 wrongs make a right?
A rape victim can speak in their own defense.
Who speaks for an unborn, unwanted child?

then dodged the draft by going to France on a religious mission while his classmates were fighting the Vietnam War..
    ----------------------

President Clinton also dodget the draft and did not fight in the Vietnam War. What's your point??????? And Clinton stayed in the U.S., his boss, a Senator got him out of Vietnam and Clinton did not keep his commitment to join the ROTC in exchange for not going fighting in the Vietnam War. What's your point again?????
