Akin imbroglio is bad news for Republicans

Washington (CNN) - If there is any silver lining for Republicans from the Todd Akin imbroglio, no one seems to have found it yet.

Election forecasters have downgraded the Missouri congressman's chances of winning the U.S. Senate seat held by Democrat Claire McCaskill because of his incendiary comments on rape and pregnancy.

The problem for the GOP is that it is not just one wacko. It's a big chuck of their delegation, especially in the House. Paul Ryan, their VP pick is right there on this issue. AND, it's part of their party platform. This isn't one wacko, it's a whole party full of them.

Republicans simply need to use this as an opportunity to shake up the election. You know- be honest, let your hair down and tell America what YOU REALLY are all about. Be a little crazy. When we sum up who the GOP opposes (the poor, children, the elderly, women, the working middle class), what they stand against (voting rights, civil rights, workers rights), and who they are for (ummm, well just the rich and those odd people "corporations") we rapidly see they are unelectable.

The only way out? Embrace the crazy, ain't it cool?

Just a lot of BS and diversion from the Democrats and MSM. All will be forgotten when Akin wins the Senate seat. McCaskill is toast no matter what.

I was amazed when Brittney Spears, shaved her head. She looked a lot like my uncle George. Same goes for all these candidates. They make it look attractive to get elected, then the hair comes off, and all bets are off. Regardless of who gets elected, the unemployment rate will stay high. The fact is employers don't needs warm bodies. They're happy the way things are. Productivity high, burden costs kept low. Employees are considered burden.

It's clear that Akin is not seaking for all in the GOP. Ryan & Romney have both stated numerous times Akin needs to resign. It's like the nonsense around Biden and his mouth. This to will go away and sonner or later the dems will have to talk issues, you know jobs, deficit.

Please my fellow Americans: I do not expect you to take my word for it. Please read the Republican platform. See for yourself what they want to do to the nation. It is like they are setting out to prove once and for all that "government" is the problem. It will be if we elect them.

When McCaskill wins her Senate seat back, I hope she remembers who reallly went after her in this election cycle and stops that damn "Blue Dog" democratic voting and behavior of hers. She needs to remember who supports her for real. This stupid jerk Akin just gave her a tremendous gift...

This guy is the Poster person for the whole current Republican Party. A bunch of Old, White, rich, Rednecks that still believe in Mythology and spread it around like fertilizer for the masses of like-minded knuckle-draggers they preach to!

The Republicans will never recover from this fall until they repudiate these has- been, out of date frauds like Akin and Ryan!
They live in a past Century and shouldn’t be allowed to be involved in the Current Legislation Process.

@hesea: 1) this 'distraction' was instigated by your Republicans, not the Democrats. Further, all this faux outrage is NOT over Akin's words or beliefs. It's entirely because he let the cat out of the bag and now the Republicans can't just sneak their anti-choice, anti-woman, anti-anyone not rich, white and Republican platform planks through on Monday. I esp. love this remark: "this is the Republican platform, it's not the Romney platform." Romney is the presumptive LEADER of the Republican Party (although we all know it's actually Rove, Norquist, and Limbaugh). What's Romney's platform, the Romulan platform???? This all would be funny if they weren't capable of destroying the country.

Don't you dare give up, Akin – keep doing the GOP talking points and beliefs parade. I am enjoying it.

Typical rebublican, reads something he likes, doesn't bother to check facts and starts spouting it out like it's rock solid fact. Best republican is one that can't read.
