Presidential 'shoot around' at Obama Classic to raise $3 million

(CNN) - President Obama heads to New York City on Wednesday night to participate in the long-awaited Obama Classic, a basketball fundraiser with current and former NBA and WNBA stars.

Originally scheduled during the 2011 NBA lockout when basketball fans had nowhere to see their favorite players play, the event was canceled after the lockout was resolved and rescheduled for this summer.

Oh brother. Here come the lead-paint-chomping GOP droolers equating this with "Obama doesn't do anything at all." Go for it Teatrolls...get it out of your system. Lord knows not a day goes by that you don't have to fill with hysterical brain-damaged rantings.

I wish to support this President in EVERY way, much better than the alternative. As a Blk man that has held jobs usually held by Wht men, i know that sometimes you have to shine extra bright just because you are different. I agree Obama hasn't been the best President to ever hold office, but i can think of 2 Presidents off the back that have done worse (and they both got re-elected). Keep fixing the last guys mess and Romney can run again in 2016 (if he can beat H.Clinton). If the Repubs hadn't have said from early in Obama's term that they would do whatever it took to make Obama a 1 term President, then maybe they would have a leg to stand on. But he got NO help at all, and our government needs 2 branches to effect most laws. Obama 2012

  10. he didn't make that basket

anybody actually scoring points will not get credit for them, just the 3-4 people that touched the ball before the score. anybody can put the ball in the hoop but it is really all the people that touched the ball before it happened that really count.

    welcome to socialist basketball.

@Tyrone ... Obama attended Reverend Wright's God Damn America, racist church for TWENTY YEARS !!! ... the same church which gave racist Louis Farrakhan a life time achievement award ... the same racist church where Obama swore to follow the "Black Values" policy ... which demanded allegiance to help Blacks before any other race. THAT'S RACIST !!!

Hey liberals.....Before you start trying to play the race card in regard to Romney and Ryan, you might want to do a little research...Because if you did a little research, you would find out.....That Ryan's lady love in college was a black woman. And, Ryan's sister-in-law is a black woman as well. Now, put away your "race cards" for another day.

If he and every other candidate and politician didn't need to raise money, this wouldn't be necessary.

The lack of insight in most of these comments are a bit scary. How should we demand that Politicos be honest and project integrity. The populace would rather waste time overlooking that the BB event is a fund raiser, and funds are required to run for reelection. The tasks before us to keep this economy rebounding demand broad attention and a deep compassion for all, the disenfranchised and the entitled. When truth about welfare and medicare are more widely known, then we can see the real spread in this election.
