Reporter: Romney campaign didn't allow abortion questions

(CNN) – While the campaign did not deny the restriction was given, a spokesman for Mitt Romney's presidential campaign pushed back Thursday against a report that a television reporter was instructed not to ask Romney certain questions in an interview.

In response to the charge, a Romney campaign official told CNN, "This is not how we operate. The matter is being addressed."

The reporter, Shaun Boyd of CNN affiliate KCNC in Denver, Colorado, said she conducted a five-minute interview with Romney earlier Thursday. The station's news director, Tim Wieland, told CNN that the Romney campaign offered the interview but said the candidate would not discuss abortion or Rep. Todd Akin, whose controversial comments landed him - and his party's stance on abortion - in the spotlight.

"The one stipulation to the interview was that I not ask him about abortion or Todd Akin," Boyd said in her report. "He's the Missouri Republican who created a firestorm after saying women's shut down in a legitimate rape to prevent pregnancy. I did ask him about health care, the female vote, and energy."

Romney was in New Mexico on Thursday and delivered a speech on energy.

Video from the interview was posted on the station's website and highlighted in an email to reporters from President Barack Obama's campaign.

  1. The GOP need to pack up and leave

Of course they wouldn't allow certain questions. How quickly people forget the squashing of freedom of speech under the Bush regime. Romney's just copying his illegally selected predecessor.

Mr. Mittens put one of the most extreme thinking anti-abortionists on his ticket and now he (Romney) doesn't want to talk about it? Clearly this is not a man who is able to contemplate how his own actions do affect others. Certainly not a deep thinker; nor, I think, a good candidate to become a future President of a very diverse thinking America. I'm getting a very clear impression that this man has no idea how to run anything, including his own campaign. For the media to try and paint it otherwise is a slap to America and to the millions of people living throughout the world who depend upon a stable mindset in all United States Presidents. Mitt has shown only one thought process ... how to advance Mitt Romney.

And for all you anti-abortion Republicans: Don't agree with abortion – don't get one. It really is that simple. Trying to stop others from getting one is neither your business or your right.

Obama sucks" is what the bumper sticker reads. I guess he sucks because he lead the mission to hunt down and kill Osama Bin Laden the monster responsible for killing thousand of innocent Americans. I guess he sucks because he truly believes that no American should be without health insurance. I guess he sucks because he feels no son or daughter should see that their Mothers or Fathers denied coverage due to preexisting conditions. I guess he sucks because he rescued an iconic American company and industry. I guess he sucks because he feels all women have the right to decide what's best for her and her body. It's amazing that we allow lies and misinformation to distort the truth. What we are doing is creating a new philosophy that will create a new way that elections will be ran in the Future. No longer are election based on facts and accomplishments. They are based on lie and we the American People are to blame. Trust me in back war rooms were all the planning is done they are keeping a sharp eye on how we the American people can be easily manipulated. They know the exact number of times the need to tell a lie before we run with it as the truth. This is sad and very sad, it is not long before those that have you believe that Obama Sucks, will have you beleive that you daughter was not raped because she became pregnant. They will soon have you believe she lust to have this animal on top of her causing her pain for if she did not then how could she have become pregnant.

this is exactly how the GOP and Romney operate.
If they do it – it is okay, when the democrats do it – well it signals the end of the world as we know it.
    pathetic.

  9. lies from the right - and mostly hate

This is precisely how the Twit's campaign is orchestrated. Has been since day one. Anyone who believes that the media is NOT given "suitable" questions to ask by these bozo's prior to an interview is drinking the cool-aid. BOTH sides do it. It seems to be more of an issue with the right wing tho.

I support Obama but I'm not about to let my ol' lady drive my income off the rails by having an abortion. I need those tax dollars! Obama will make sure you pay your fair share and then make sure I get it.

Just what we need. A President who only allows questions he has either been prepped to answer, or questions he has a talking point for. How do you think that is going to play out on the world stage? If this man wants to be president, he needs to be ready to answer any question asked him. Further proof that he is not ready for prime time!!
