Romney talks energy as polls show little change

(CNN) - Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan hit the campaign trail on Thursday to pitch energy policy and defense spending, as new polls showed President Barack Obama maintaining a slight lead in three key swing states after Romney named the conservative House Budget Committee chairman from Wisconsin as his running mate.

Four days ahead of the Republican National Convention, certain presidential nominee Romney sought to build momentum with a continued focus on his economic policies mixed with attacks on Obama's handling of a stalling recovery.

  3. Say No to Willard Romney Hood and Personhood Ann Ryand

Willard needs to start talking about Dr. Willke, the medical expert who advised Akin about non pregnancies as a result of rape. The same Dr. Willke that was a RMoney surrogate during his latest failed political run. Willard was all for the personhood ammendment when he was yapping his gums on Huckleberry's program. Akin = Romney = Ryan = wrong for America.
    Release the tax returns, Willard!!

  5. 8.3% unemployment - Over 8% 42 Straight months and the Obama Jobs DEPRESSION continues unabated

Obama and the Democrats have refused to exploit this country's massive energy reserves. They have done everything they could to stop or shut them down. The negative affects will not be immediate but will be huge down the road as it takes years to develop these resources.

Obama is a liar and a fraud when he claims energy production is up because of his adminstration. These increases are the result of the Bush and the Republicans did years ago and are now coming on line.

Mr. Romney, it takes honesty and integrity to be the President of the United states of America. Your peers and constituents have repeatedly requested certain tax documents to which you have repeatedly denied. All Americans know you are hiding something. You sir do not have the honesty or integrity to be the President of the United States of America..........Romney and Ryan...... Laurel and Hardy of the 21st century

I do not understand why Obama will give money to Brazil to help develop their oil production... but do nothing for home. Decrease in drilling on public lands, mothballing Keystone pipeline (even after environ changes made), EPA standards that will hamper electrical production via coal in 2014... is not an energy policy that will promote oil independance, and keep energy costs down. I cannot support this energy policy from Obama/Biden.

Romneys numbers will drop once people hear about his energy independence scam, and that is exactly what it is a SCAM. Its been done to death with Republicans and most people with a fifth grade education know it is a scam

The Obama campaign seems to be playing "rope a dope" with the Romney campaign. Romney has told quite a number of lies lately, and there is plenty of video tapes of him saying the opposite, the truth. It should make for some good campaign ad material come September and beyond.

Ryan, meanwhile, will talk about military spending at a defense industry roundtable in Fayetteville, North Carolina.

The event comes a day after a new CBO report outlined the potentially dismal impact of the impending "fiscal cliff" that includes the expiration of the Bush tax cuts and mandatory reductions in government spending, including defense outlays.

The scheduled automatic cuts - known as sequestration - came about as a result of a compromise budget measure passed into law after congressional negotiations failed to agree on a deficit-reduction plan last year.

Ryan voted for the compromise, saying at the time that it represented "a victory for those committed to controlling government spending and growing our economy."

Now, he and Romney call the looming "fiscal cliff" an example of Obama's failed leadership. Democrats, however, blame what they call Republican intransigence in opposing Obama's push to extend the Bush tax cuts only for income over $250,000 a year for families and $200,000 a year for individuals.

So Ryan voted for this, claiming voctory. Boehner said republicans got 98% of what they wanted. And this is Obama's fault?

I changed my mind. It might be better if you guys did forget how to breathe.

I wish I was running Obama's campaign. I would have a commercial up right now about how the Keystone folks admitted that the number of jobs resulting were exaggerated and that the oil would be put on the world market, thus doing nothing for our oil independence. Then, I'd put up another commercial showing republicans voting down a law that would require that the oil being pipelined thru our country remain here. Which would have actually done something for our oil independence. Then watch as R&R try to dance outta yet another goof.

ghostriter, under the labor laws of this country, any defense contractor who knows of defense cuts and thus has to layoff employees is required by LAW to inform those employees 60 days in advance. Now we know how this administration is about laws, the labor department issued notice that those contractors who WILL layoff on or about Jan. 1, 2013, don't have to abide by the law because that would put notices on or about November 1st and this administration just can't have that. Besides they can fine them later.

ghostriter, you might also tell the people that if there is more oil on the WORLD markets it reduces the price, don't worry about the Keystone pipeline anymore, CHINA bought the company and is building their own pipeline in Canada. You might also like to explain who come we are PAYING BRAZIL for their Offshore exploration and drilling, so we can become their best customer, according to Pres.Obama, apparently he NEVER had the ambition nor told the truth about making America ENERGY INDEPENDENT.

I think President Clinton meant to say in the ad that in 2008 Senator Obama had a plan to rebuild America from the ground up, investing in innovation, education and job training and we are in 2012, Obama became President and it didn't happen. How can Clinton say Obama "has a plan", he already had the plan and failed at his plan. And another 4 years is not going to do it.

The hypocrisy is amazing. Isn't it? The Tea Party raucous blames Pres. Obama for "out of control spending", despite the fact that all spending originates in the Tea Party controlled House.

It seems a lot of folks don't understand what a global market is. Any production anywhere has a downward impact on price everywhere. Any increasing demand anywhere puts upward pressure on prices everywhere. The only exception to this rule is for oil rich nations that have nationalized production (Venezuela and Iraq under Saddam are examples).

We cannot drill our way out of this problem for two reasons. The increasing demand, especially in China and India, will overwhelm our production increases and OPEC will reduce production as needed to maintain the price. Therefore, if we increase production, we will only depleating our oil reserves to feed global demand, while OPEC reduces production, gets the same price now and even higher prices later when our diminishing reserves force us to reduce production.

The President is doing the right thing by promoting energy efficiency and investing in the development of alternative energy. It is the only long-term solution to this problem. Of course, for that he gets nothing but grief and resistance from the Conservatives.

You've been listening exclusively to the right wing propaganda machine. Everything that you wrote is based upon cherry=picked "facts." Domestic oil production is way up. We are exporting more than we import, which makes no sense to me at all. [why are we both exporting and importing at the same time? ???]

The EPA decision was politically motivated to appease the right wing with red meat. There is actually no such thing as "clean coal." The coal industry simply wants a different set of relaxed rules for coal fired plants, instead of being subjected to the same rules as everyone else. The rules have not been tightened, either. They are simply being enforced, instead of ignored as they were under Republicans.
