Washington (CNN) – The controversy over Rep. Todd Akin's comments on abortion appears to have created a significant shift in public opinion on that issue, principally among younger Americans, according to a new nationwide poll by CNN/ORC International.
The Republican Senate nominee in Missouri and six-term congressman, who has deep ties to Christian conservatives, sparked a firestorm following comments in a TV interview Sunday when he said that a woman's body is capable of preventing pregnancy in cases of "legitimate rape" while explaining his stance that there should be no abortion exemption for rape or incest.

Washington (CNN) - With three days to go until the start of the Republican convention, President Barack Obama and GOP challenger Mitt Romney remain deadlocked in the race for the White House, according to a new national survey.
A CNN/ORC International poll released Friday also indicates Romney's favorable rating among those likely to vote in the presidential election is in the same ballpark as the president's, and the survey also points to a slightly higher level of enthusiasm for Republicans than Democrats.

(CNN) - Rep. Todd Akin announced Friday he will continue his run in Missouri for the U.S. Senate, despite having ignited a political firestorm with a comment that pregnancy resulting from "legitimate rape" was "really rare."

Tampa, Florida (CNN) - Boosted by a fund-raising appeal from Mike Huckabee, embattled Senate candidate Todd Akin has raised $206,000 online since his "legitimate rape" comment inflamed the political universe last Sunday.
Akin's web consultant Wesley Donehue told CNN that the donations came from 3,300 unique contributors online, and did not include checks that are "pouring in" to the campaign.

The rules change, approved Friday by Republican National Committee officials in Tampa, was an implicit response to efforts by Ron Paul supporters to secure delegates at GOP state conventions and overturn the results of various primaries and caucuses.

Tampa, Florida (CNN) - Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus suggested Friday that the big three television networks were declining to broadcast portions of next week's GOP convention out of political bias.
Priebus specifically questioned the decision by the broadcast networks to not show any GOP Convention programming on Monday evening, when Ann Romney is supposed to speak.
