RNC chairman chides TV networks over convention programming

Tampa, Florida (CNN) - Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus suggested Friday that the big three television networks were declining to broadcast portions of next week's GOP convention out of political bias.

Priebus specifically questioned the decision by the broadcast networks to not show any GOP Convention programming on Monday evening, when Ann Romney is supposed to speak.

"I am pretty disappointed with the networks for not covering us on Monday, but we are getting good at dealing with the mainstream media," Priebus told CNN.

Priebus said its been an uphill battle negotiating with the networks over broadcast time.

ABC and CBS will each air one hour of prime time convention programming on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights of both the Republican and Democratic conventions. NBC will mirror the other networks in coverage of the RNC, but at the DNC, will air one hour of primetime programming on Tuesday and two hours on Thursday.

But unlike the Democrats, who have no events on the Monday before their three-day convention, Republicans have four days of podium action and a full slate of speakers for Monday night. The networks are not taking any of that nights programming live in primetime.

"Listen, I think the media has an obsession with distractions, they havent been focused on the economy, jobs and the promises that Obama has failed to deliver," Priebus said. "Again, we getting used to getting our message out in spite of the mainstream media."

CNN will carry live coverage of the all four nights of convention activities.

Ha ha Priebus. It's not like Anne was going to sway any of the women voters anyway or tell us anything new about her taxes and Swiss bank account: You people have all you're going to get.

  2. the obvious truth, liberal bias rules the airwaves

The American people know how biased the networks are towards liberals, Democrats and especially Obama. Fair and balanced coverage is not even expected anymore. It can ONLY be gotten in one place, Fox News.

So what? I already heard Ann speak. She said "you people have gotten all you're gonna get from us". That was all I needed to hear.

Hooray for only three nights of propoganda instead of four. I would rather watch America's got talent than either sides convention. Quit disrupting my TV viewing with your do nothing chatter.

It is not the media's job to carry water for their campaign of mostly lies. When most of your big talking points are out of context mischaracterizations "you didn't build that" and outright lies "Obama is eliminating work requirements for welfare", then you are going to get the media coverage you deserve – fact checking and condemnation.

The major media has not done a good job chronicling the hundreds (literally) of lies Mitt Romney has told over the past 9 months. Is the Obama campaign whining about it? No. But the spoiled brats in the GOP – Williard, Rience, Ryan, and the usual cast of characters are doing enough whining for everyone.

Once Isaac washes out the convention, Priebus will have something to really cry about. Until then give us a break and shut up.

Three nights 1 one hour each for both Dems and Reps...

Reps call it bias, no wonder they don't feel the rich should pay more? what they get as long as it's equalled to yours, it's not enough.

Give me a break!! He spends months bad-mouthing the quote "mainstream media" and now wants SPECIAL treeatment. Evidently, the media is serving the Republican Convention and the Democratic Convention alike - 3 one hour shows each night, but this yokel wants 4 nights for the Republicans. Not to worry though, FOX will cover all of it right down to who turned out the lights. Give me a break!!

Whatever Reince. Your party is not going to televise much of the convention, where no one in the press is allowed. Typical bs, Robmey shuts down most of all press with no questions. Just yesterday one of his staffers told 4 press people there would be no questions around abortion or Akin. Duck and Dodge all the way.
Oh, and love how Robmey said he would make the US sustainable with our gasoline resources by 2020. I wonder what pipe he is smoking. Check in with a geologist their dirt bag.

The networks are not being fair and balanced because they're not airing MORE of the Republican convention! That makes sense in Crazy World.

I have one way the RNC would GUARANTEE live coveraga by all networks, even Nick at Night. Just show Romney's tax returns on the screen above the stage. Start with 1999 and go from there. Give us something interesting to look at while Anne is talking about how wonderful a person her husband is.....

Ann Romney is not exactly gonna spike up the tv ratings ya know. Why would the networks waste their time on her. This is from a pure capitalist perspective, something Mitt should be familiar with.

To be fair, Uncle Priebus, there's only so much the American people can take of the Goon Show in Tampa. After all, we've been subjected to a year of your idiot presidential candidates. Now that you've whittled them down to one Rich Old White Guy, can't you just give us a break and do your dirty work in private?
