Todd Akin gets online fundraising boost

Tampa, Florida (CNN) - Boosted by a fund-raising appeal from Mike Huckabee, embattled Senate candidate Todd Akin has raised $206,000 online since his "legitimate rape" comment inflamed the political universe last Sunday.

Akin's web consultant Wesley Donehue told CNN that the donations came from 3,300 unique contributors online, and did not include checks that are "pouring in" to the campaign.

Donehue, who helped South Carolina Rep. Joe Wilson raise an ocean of online cash after the infamous "You Lie!" flap of 2009, said the money is "a signal that grassroots supporters want him to stay in the race."

A late Thursday email blast from Huckabee urging conservatives to donate to Akin's campaign has sparked a "dramatic uptick" in donations, Donehue told CNN.

It really makes you wonder how many people are doing this so that he can continue and will eventually lose to the incumbant. I have to worry if people think that he is correct when he said that women have a way of preventing pregnancy from rape. Akin was referring to women getting a gun and shooting themselves because that easier than getting the uterus removed when you have no health insurance.

Mike Huckabee helping to raise funds for Todd Akin. It is clear where those Conservatives stand on the issue of rape.

Wow! So the complaints from Republicans about the "Akinization" of the election by Democrats suddenly loses all credibility. Evidently biological ignorance is a part of the Republican party platform.

The seniors will need it when they run out of health care dollars.

Good.. The GOP's knee-jerk reaction to all of this was just insane... I'm glad Akin is staying in and fighting back against the GOP, they had no right trying to oust the MO voter's nominee, in the first place... Now, you see some claiming it's really the democrats who are financially supporting Akin... Oh, of course, the GOP doesn't want to admit they made a mistake and are now looking like a Pride of Toothless Lions....

Stay in please Akin, Hugs and Kisses from all the women out there. Mothers, sisters, daughters, nieces, grandmothers, aunts. You have no chance at all. But by staying in you keep the war on women front and center.

No more good ol' boys club! No Romney for me!

Hey read Vanity Fair August 2012. Page 86.

Also zoom in on page 90. Should we all pursue tax friendly trusts in Tartola, BVI?

Do we really want a president that knows how to beat the system with his best friends. Why not disclose how to get rich outside the US to the rest of the country so we can all reap the rewards.

Or better yet, bring the dollars back to the US where it belongs. I'm just sayin' ...

I hate to tell you but recently I was approached by Scientologists, they gave me literature to read, I got some books on my own to read on it and Scientologists from what I read are right up there with Akin's thinking about abortion, rape and the body having the power to take care of itself. Scientologists are not pro medicine or abortion.

It's sad to know that there are enough bigots and racist in the US to support such negative and divisive representatives. It's a shame think that we are the "leaders of the free world".

Fortunately the rest of the world seems wiser than us.
